I've been member of National Dance Clubs Brentwood location for several years now and I have not experienced anything but a well run dance studio. The staff is courteous and helpful. The managers are nice too. I have taken many lessons over the years with several different teachers, all well trained, and, on occasion, I have just maintained my membership. Either way, I am treated warmly and with respect. I have had regular contact with other customers and teachers from the other locations and we all seem to have a great time together.

I get to dance with different students of all ages and abilities and if I ever have a concern I talk to my teacher or one of the managers. I like the fact that I know what I am learning and the my teachers have a plan for each lesson. The practice parties are so much fun and I really do learn a lot.

If you are looking for quality dance instruction in a professional and friendly atmosphere, I cannot recommend this business more highly. I actually like that they offer lots of different options for using the lessons, but I have not taken advantage of extras, yet. I just know I want to keep dancing and there is no place I would rather do it.

So, here's the rundown... They get you in for some cheap advertisement. Then, there'll be some small ""Get you hooked"" package. After that, the prices go to about $1800-$1900 for 10 more private lessons and group classes. IF you can afford that, they'll try to hit you up for THOUSANDS of dollars more in dance lessons. If you have the audacity to tell them that you can't afford that, they will be totally rude and treat you like you are dirt. The studio is fairly nice, but WOW are they high pressure and WAY OVER PRICED. The instructors are mostly (fake) nice, but all are young and inexperienced. I had thought to myself that maybe they just placed an ad in the paper and hired them off the street. Then, I saw an ad on Craigslist where they were doing that exact thing! The negative reviews about NDC that are all over the internet are absolutely dead on

NDC employs high-pressure sales tactics and takes advantage of lonely elderly people. These folks are very fake and plastic, kissing up to these seniors. This is the set-up for the hard sell. These clients do not have any family member present to look into what is being foisted upon these gullible elders.
Some prices for you: NDC sells 'lesson guides' of about 90 lessons, at the cost of over $10,000. The 'competition club' costs $10,000, and when a 'member' takes a trip with 'the club', the price is outrageous: one example is over $10,000 for five days in Florida. The student pays for his expenses and that of the instructor. Unconscionable! For that amount of money, an entire family can have a very nice week-long vacation!
NDC has 'sucked in' an elderly member of my family, and when I have tried to intervene, they would not discuss the details with me, all but telling me that it was none of my business. They don't care about their 'relationships' with their students. The only thing they want a 'relationship' with is the students' bank accounts!
NDC's business practices are suspect at best. Avoid these people like the plague! Your wallet will thank you.

I have been dancing at NDC Brentwood for a little over a year now. My experience there has been nothing but wonderful. I have learned to dance, lost weight and have met some great people along the way. This investment in a hobby for myself will last me a lifetime and has been well worth it! My instructor as well as all the other instructors are very professional and encourage you to learn as much as you can. There are always opportunities that are presented to do shows, competitions, or trips, but I have never felt pressure into doing any of them. I do have to say that dancing is a expensive hobby but it is a great activity to learn to dance, exercise without realizing it and meet some great people. My time at NDC has been worth every minute. There are some negative reviews on here about NDC. In the time that I have been taking lessons I have never seen any of it. I attend just about all the parties and outings and the staff has always kept a professional manner and appearance. NDC Brentwood is like an extended family, everyone knows your name and greets you as soon as you walk in the door! There is no other place I would rather invest in dancing than NDC Brentwood!\r\n

I am usally Leary of places that dont have written policy and pricing readily available for you to review and compare. I took the free introductory class, everyone is so friendly when come there.I enjoyed it,next I was offered a first time dancer package of 5 private lessons and 5 group classes for $240.00. I figure thats not to bad,and take the classes.when these are over you get invited to nthe managers office to purchase yet more classes. Then things arent so friendly anymore as theese managers I will equate to used car salesman are telling me 10 private lessons and 10 group classes are now going to cost $1600.00 if you pay it now or $1800.00 in 4 instalments of over $400.00 a month !!! If they would print these prices and policies Im sure nobody would walk through their doors! and although I did take the next block of classes because i was having fun learning to dance.I also know I will not sit down with another manager to purchase a used car for my next group of lessons. going to look somewhere else!

I was invited to NDC as a guest over a year ago. At first everything was wonderful then, as soon as I slowed down on the number of lessons I took a week and didn't do the shows any longer because of the expense (once you get past your first set of lessons which is only a couple of hundred they run over $10,000 for a book of about 100 lessons!!), everything changed!! They no longer danced with me on Friday nights unless it was a slow night, I was the last one called to book in lessons then was frequently bumped for other students who were doing more than I was and was told I would lose what I had learned (muscle memory) if I did not continue at the same pace I had been previously. All in all it ended up making me feel horrible and that I had simply thrown my money away! I also agree with the other comments here about the alcohol and drug abuse. I saw it as well especially at the Friday parties. My instructor would drink before the parties and you could smell it on him!! I'm glad I learned to dance but am happy I left before they got my life savings!!

Pros: Live bands Fridays

Cons: Pushy instructors, must sign contracts

The staff and other members are very nice and a lot of fun. The instructors are very patient, polite and professional. I have only seen good things at NDC Brentwood. I have been a member for more than 2 years and continue to take lessons. Each person is treated with respect and is given the opportunity to know what extra events are coming up to allow them to choose if they want to participate or not. I have always been given the opportunity to say yes, or no to the events and never been pushed into anything. We dance to a live band at Friday night Dance Parties occasionally bringing food to share. It's a GREAT place to go! JazzyJ

If you want to learn to ballroom dance invest your time and money elsewhere!! This studio, while being one of if not the biggest in our area, is way overpriced for what they offer. The average teacher has been there for a year at best and is still trying to learn themselves. On top of that, the majority of teachers there have an alcohol problem which is evident every friday night after the party when they pile up in the managers office for a margarita or some other drink of choice to ""start the evening off"" or Tuesdays during their destination unknown parties where they drink both before and after the event. Teachers will show up for lessons hung over or reaking of smoke both cigarette and pot. As if this was not bad enough, they say no contracts yet everytime you get ""low"" in lessons they take you into the office to sign what they call an ""agreement"" for more. This ""agreement"" has legal terms in it just like a contract and must be signed for you to continue taking lessons!! They also use high pressure sales tactics to get your business and when you can't afford it they continue to push causing some students to leave there in tears while others go home and max credit cards and home loans just to be a part of their group. It is a high pressure, low professionalism environment. Beware what lies behind the smoke and mirrors!

If you want to learn to dance AND use your dancing even if you do not have a partner, the National Dance Clubs is a great place. Really impressive service. The problem is I never knew they were there! They are hidden behind Williams Home Place...\r\n\r\nWe were happy that they offer so many chances for us to use our dancing for fun with other students. The Friday and Saturday night parties are wonderful and we also really enjoy the nights out to the Wildhorse and BB Kings.\r\n\r\nMy husband and I have lost weight and met a lot of wonderful people. Great fun!
