I, as well as my brother and sister went to Camp Joy in the 1960 era. It was the most wonderful time anyone could imagine. I had never been away from my parents before this magical time. I especially remember a counselor named Willadean Ledford, she made a lasting impression. I wonder today where she went from there. Horseback riding, swimming, dodge ball, campfires, songs and overall wonderfulness. Thank GOD for this experience.

A meaningful part of my summer memories. I attended Camp Joy from age 9-14, then went back as a Counselor at 16. I loved it. This was 26 years ago. I hope that you get a chance to experience the camp and have great memories too. The cabins have been renovated. The swimming, horseback riding, soft ball, tether ball, and overall camp experience is great for the price... Free...except the spending money on extra snacks. Most important to me was the love and friendship found from my counselors and remained friends with some of my cabin friends for many years to follow. The Christian environment is superb. The camp passages are still deep in my heart today and I can recall the first one I learned in "rhythm" style. I would definitely recommend Camp Joy.

When I attended Camp Joy, ten or so years ago, I had a great time. The camp really emphasized physical activity, specifically swimming and horse back riding. All of the children really enjoyed playing tetherball, as well. The camp food I remember to be mediocre, but I don't think many cared. The staff was comprised of young counselors, aged at least 16 who cared for a cabin of girls. The cabins were being renovated then, and more than half had air conditioning. Now, I'd imagine most do. The best thing about the camp is that it's free. The only cost is spending money for extra snacks during the week.
