All three of my children attended Walters State and I can vouch that it's a great college. One became a nurse and, like most of her classmates, passed the state exam on the first try and had her choice of jobs. The other took two years then transferred to a university to finish her degree. She did well and felt that the courses at Walters State were better and tougher than the ones at the university. Classes are small and professors get to know you on a first-name basis. It's a great college.

A lot of people think a community college is not a great place, but they're wrong about Walters State. The classes are very small and you have a chance to get to know your professors. The professors are very knowledgeable - where else are you going to take basic anatomy from a Ph. D. who actually knows your name. They offer a lot of different programs and have articulation agreements that make it easy to transfer. The college also has a lot going on. You can join clubs or work part-time at the college. The cost is the greatest thing. By going here, you'll probably be able to avoid going into debt your freshman or sophomore years. I loved my time there.

PROS: Cost, Size
CONS: None
