My husband ordered my Valentine's Flowers from Gil & Curt. He asked for an early delivery which was accepted by them they were to deliver to my office which closes at 5pm. When 5:00 started approaching and I had not received the delivery

My wife ordered flowers for her recently widowed mother who is experiencing her first Valentine's Day, 6 weeks after losing her husband of 50 years.

Be warned: Gil & Curt online uses Telefloral. Telefloral takes your order, puts a charge (pending hold or not) on your bank account and then Gil & Curt charge you again. Whether one of these charges comes off later or not, who knows, it is bad business practice. I made my bank remove the extra charge immediately, which is only right.

I called to talk to someone at Gil & Curt about this. First I'll say, I've used them before and usually (but not always) their arrangements are amazing and fresh and last a while, but they are not cheap. And I have no problem with someone who runs a local business trying to do so in an efficient, cost effective manner, but at times their attitude has been palpable. I don't care how fabulous you think you are, if I'm the customer it's your obligation to prove it to me and make me comfortable through the whole process.

After calling about this issue to express my concern, I will never use them again. Gil & Curt & the folk they have answering the phone seem to care only about making money and getting as many orders out as possible & damn the follow up customer service or any attempts to make a wrong right, or to at least re-assure a customer and attempt to keep them.

Success Miss Cartwright & Miss Hodge, you've lost a repeat customer, his entire family (still in Chattanooga) and any and all of his friends who care to know about my experience.

Sorry Ron S. As we told you, we had only charged you once according to our only records. We were told by Teleflora that your bank held your funds until we ran your charge through at the time we processed your order. We did not stop trying to figure out what had happened even at that. It took about a week for us to discover that the website charged and credited cards once we accepted the order. That has been corrected. We really appreciate the fact that you brought it to our attention. We would never have known.

Pros: 75% of the time you get a top notch floral design

Cons: BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE & attitude... pretentious

Gil and Curt did my wedding when they first went into business. They still amaze me with the flowers that they get in and with the designs they make from them. They have definitely improved with age!

A friend had ordered flowers from another state to be delivered to us (North Shore). The flowers were supposed to get here on a Saturday and still have not been delivered four days later. To straighten out the matter, they were called and we were met with nothing but a pompous attitude and horrible customer service. We were blamed for the problem even when the delivery driver admitted to delivering to the wrong address. They've lied to us and told us a number of different stories all the while not accepting blame nor offering to return our friends money.

They 100% lie on their website when they say "We guarantee 100% satisfaction", all they guarantee is that they will take your money, deliver to whomever they choose, blame you for the problem, then be nothing but a horrible human being on the telephone. Save the money, its not worth the trouble at all.

These people deserve to be reported for stealing and horrible business.

If you want to pay more and get less, then Gil and Curt's is the place to go. While they benefit from a great location in North Chattanooga, they certainly lack in customer service and proper order execution. I have had two experiences with them and I will not be back for a third. The first experience left me with dead lucky bamboo, part of a $100+ arrangement, and they only offered care advice once I approached them with the problem (no care instructions included). They didn't offer a store credit, replacement, or even an admission of a lack of instruction, just a snooty decline. Let's just say the replacement bamboo that I bought at IKEA has done much better.
My next experience involved a botched arrangement order. While the arrangement was admittedly quite nice, it wasn't at all what had been specified. They would not correct the order, even though we offered to return the first one. Incidentally, some of the flowers began to wilt a day later. I don' t mind paying more when it involves a quality product, but when I experienced bad service and 2 out of 2 order mishaps, it convinced me to stop going there. Don't count them out because of one bad review, but if you ask around, you will find similiar experiences as well. I know I did. I just wish I had heard them sooner.

The flowers by Gil and Curt are incredibly beautiful. They always do something just a little bit different from everyone else to make a unique arrangement that will get attention. Their flowers are always fresh and in good condition. They have a really nice store in North Chattanooga that is fun to be in because it is so pretty. They are not cheap, but I think the saying "you get what you pay for" applies to them. They are very helpful and will work with you to get the kind of arrangement you are looking for and strive to make their customers happy.
