I've been taking my dogs for bording at Puppy Coral for ten years. They are a out standing facility, they always take care of my dogs and would recommend them to anyone. When I'm out of town, I'd call daily ask how she's doing. They would tell me she's doing well, she's very playful, and they would give her prescribed meds and treats daily. When I come home to pick her up, they would always make arrangements to be open, so I can pick her up. They would always given her a bath and trim her nails and trim hair from her ears. So I recommend Puppy Coral for there great service..

CALLING ANDY WISE!!!

I spent a fortunate on a boxer puppy that they assured was registered with papers included. She in fact came with papers from the ACA which upon researching, isn't a reputable registry and not even recognized by the AKC. I can in no way verify blood lines or have any proof that she is a pure bred boxer. I found most information describes this registry as a known source for puppy mills and scammers to get away with registering fraudulent information as a clever ways to fool the ill informed!

My puppy had kennel cough and intestinal parasites. Unfortunately, I'm afraid there's more to come! These adorable puppies are likely to have more serious problems due to the irresponsible practices of this company! I am at fault by my ignorance of the correlation of pet stores and puppy mills but ultimately those innocent puppies and all of us who already love them will pay the price!

Their name should be changed to "The Puppy Mill corral" ... A place to pay a fortune and receive vet bills and fraud. It's disgusting and I'm determined to expose this situation with a vengeance.

I would actually rate it -10 if that were an option!

I have purchased all three of my schnauzers from The Puppy Corral. They were a little more expensive then I had anticipated, however the puppies were in great health, and I have used their Grooming services for the past five years. Great Place

I recently went to the Puppy Corral. The Store was very Clean and the puppies were very active. I was looking for a particular breed that they didn't have. The girl was honest with me and told me that the breed I was interested in would be very expensive and almost impossible to find. She was very informative on the different dog breeds. I later decided on a Maltese. Sugar is a very healthy Maltese. I recommend them highly to anyone looking for a healthy puppy.

First I would like to say that It's sad to see so many people having negative experiences. When I was stationed in Millington back in 1997-2000 I purchased two Maltese female puppies (one in 99' and the other in 00') and it was nothing but a pleasant experience. My girls are still alive and well to this day! Nina is 13 and Chiquita is 12. I have never had any issues with them and the vet that I took them too in Collierville that was affiliated with PC was amazing. I guess that with animals it is never a given how their health is going to be. I don't remember the names of the breeders except one was from Arkansas and the other from Mississippi (my girls were from seperate breeders). Based on my personal experience, and yes it has been many years ago, I would go back to them in a heartbeat one day when my girls are no longer with me. The Puppy Corral gave my family some of the most cherished gifts that life could bring us :-)

First of all I am going to speak from inside experience. The manager Mindy M. I know personally because I worked with this Thief, liar, and sociopath. She as no morals or integrity. I also worked for Pat and Gerald McClain in the early 90's I was naive at the time so I did not realize what they were doing and they are not new owners! They gave this business to their idiot son Greg. They opened a Puppy store in Arkansas, naturally they shut down. Pat McClain is a money hungry Drunk!!! anyone who writes a positive review about this place is probably an employee or a friend of theirs. So buyer beware!! I am now a dog trainer and I try to improve the quality of the dogs life as well as the owners life. Please dear God close this place down. They are a disgrace!!

Googled puppy corral reluctantly, because i've been looking for a very specific breed for a welcome home gift for my boyfriend. I got a husky here years ago, and remembered how many small dog breeds they have. What caught my eye, though, were these reviews. Ironically they went from generally ALL horrible to a ton of more recent positive (and oddly similar) reviews. I feel a lot like those may be damage control because honestly, when I got my husky she had medical problems. Not genetic medical problems, but problems they caused. Her skin was badly damaged by frequent washing and we had to take her to the vet multiple times for other issues. After about a year of medicine she's gotten better and hasn't had a single health issue since. Since reading about their supply being from puppy mills, I definitely wouldn't buy a dog here again even if they were the only local place carrying a breed.

We bought a Boston Terrier almost 5 years ago at PC. I was very dissapointed to see the bad reviews, so I felt I should give mine. I did think they were rather pricey. Along with crate training, we paid almost a $1,000. But for the most healthy and handsome Boston anywhere (perfect tuxedo, penny mark, crooked tail, etc.) and best friend, the price is irrevelant. PC is clean, the animals are well taken care of, the staff is knowledgeable and helpful, and the set-up and atmosphere is great. I am very pleased with PC and my best friend. I would recommend Puppy Coral to anyone. Follow Rocky Blackwell on Facebook (yeah, he's got his own page).

I recently purchased a female Bull Mastiff from puppy corral. One thing I noticed upon entering was that it didn't smell. The store was very clean. The puppies were very friendly and clean. I didn't see any sickly puppies like a woman stated below. Everyone was very nice and professional. We are in love with our baby Bella. It was a wonderful expierence and I will return in the future. the only reason I gave 4 Stars was because it was a little pricey.

I have done business with the Puppy corral for the past two years. I have utilized the boarding and grooming. Their accoumadations for the dogs while grooming is much larger kennels and cleaner than most i have seen. The groomers have always been very sweet with my dog who is a chow chow and typically hates people. He was also purchased at this establishment was AKC regisitered and has been in a great health

In 2003 when I lived in Memphis I purchased a female Golden Retriever from Puppy Corral. She had health issues from eye to persistant UTI's. We were able to get these issues cleared up but the health issues were paid by me, not by their warranty.
My golden retriever had association issues and was always frightened with the vacuum cleaner, thunder and fireworks, etc. She was a barker and was hard to control. This is due from possible in-breeding and releasing the puppy from its mother too early.
She was CKC and not AKC registered. Beware of the Canadian Kennel Club---They are not as strict with the bloodlines of dogs.
My golden developed Lymphoma in April and it spread to her jaws and stomach and she had to be euthenized. What a shame.
I loved that dog---
Hopefully with the new ownership, The puppy Corral will be a little better.
Best bet is to go to a reputable breeder local to you that has good recommendations.

I recently bought a bulldog from here and now he's in the hospital for three days. I've only had him two days. Puppy corral screwed me over and stopped paying his health bills. I bought the dog as is because of his bum leg. However I was told they would pay. Now I'm 20 years old. Just bought a house and now dropping $800 on my brand new puppy. I am taking puppy corral to court and would like to know if anyone would be willing to email me a testimony per say on their crappy expierence at puppy corral. Anything will be appreciated to win the case. Thanks. My email is candaceciminski@gmail.com

3I went in here only to look at the puppies. I was looking to buy a puppy and wanted to make a more educated decision on what type of puppy would be best for my family. I had no intentions of buying from here. I looked at a few and my family and I even got to play with a few. I pulled out a female Lhasa Apso. Her temperment was great. She was calm, yet playful. She was very eager to please and very cute. She was $799, and unfortunetly that was way more than we ever imagined spending so we left. I looked in the paper and lined up a few breeders to meet with that had lhasa apso puppies. I wasnt happy with any that I saw. They just didnt have her personality and we had no guarantee from the breeder that she would be healthy. I think I just really had my heart set on her because she was so friendly. We also went to memphis animal shelter. They had 30+ beautiful young puppies with an adoption fee of only $15, but sadly they were all golden retriver, mastiff, and lab type puppies which would not work for our family. I highly reccommend Memphis Animal Shelter if you are looking for a larger dog. We also looked at a local rescue group who had a small shih tzu mix puppy, but my email and phone calls were never returned after I told them I didnt have a vet reference and the puppy was going to be a gift to me. I was told that they didnt condone dogs as gifts. I am also only 22 and recently married. This is my first dog that has technically been under my care. I had pets as a child, but my mother was the one who took them to the vet ect. So sadly, I was denied from this rescue group. I was very upset. My husband suprised me on mothers day with the lhasa from puppy corral. Puppy corral requires that you take them to the vet within 48 hours. Her checkup went very well. The vet said she was healthy. Her teeth, eyes, nose, heart, lungs, joints, ect checked out perfectly. She did have an upper respiratory infection and a parasite called coccida in her poo. ( that is why i gave them 3 stars instead of 5) When you have 100+ dogs coming in and out each month these types of problems are to be expected. Its sort of like having kids in a daycare. Someone is always sick. She can barely sleep at night because she's coughing so much. Puppy corral covered the cost of the antibiotic that she was put on for 1 week. ) They are also going to cover her rabies shot at 16 weeks and has already had 4 sets of puppy shots. If she dies or has any genetic problems within 6 months, Puppy corral will replace her. I'm also a little concerned because they told me she was eating 1/2 cup of Eukanuba twice a day. She will not touch the Eukanuba food. She refuses to eat it. I've had to give her Science diet, but she has only been eating about 1/2 cup a day. I doubt they were feeding her Eukanuba, because they gave me a free bag and she definetly doesn't like it and she is definetly not eating a whole cup a day. Puppy corral does not breed their own dogs, and they say that they do not buy from puppy mills. They have contracts with breeders across 5 states. They dont buy whole litters. Only 1 or 2 from each litter. Some people have bought very sick puppies from there, but that is not to say that all of them are bad puppies because they come from different breeders. . Fortunetly, my dog was bought from a responsible breeder and she is very healthy. Puppy Corral is simply a pet store like you used to see in the mall. Overall, my experience was okay and we are very happy with our little Phoebe.

They don't have a zero star rating- or the Puppy Corral would get a zero from me. Do not ever board your dog there- your dog would be better off home alone. I have regretted that weekend for several years- I left my baby in the hands of abusive people. The puppies come from Puppy Mills- no doubt, just read the rest if the comments. They do not care about the dogs, They are in business to make money. Many of the puppies are very sick and they will not live up to what they say they will do-- this is a puppy mill- will a pet store sign in the front yard... so sad. I wonder how the owners sleep at night.. their reputation now precedes their name..

2011. The New Owners are Pat and Jerald MCClain and they are the same as the old. They care nothing of the dogs only the mighty dollar. They are a puppy mill their selves they have over 100 dogs in the back of the building that lay in their own filth and breed. Then they charge you 900 dollars for a dog that will have numerous health problems. Angela Short is their acting manager who will scam every dollar out of you. Beware

I worked for PC for many years. I was even a manager at one point. When I first started working there, I was just a sales person, but I quickly took over the boarding/grooming management. I can tell you that they are required by law to have the dogs inspected weekly by a veterinary doctor (which I believe they are still linked with Collierville Animal Clinic), and while I worked there, we inspected each dog daily. Unfortunately, you can't expect every dog to be healthy, as some are going to have genetic conditions (just like human babies). And I do know for a fact that if you kept your end of the contract for the 6 month warranty they give, they always have honored their commitments. As for the boarding side of things, it is a violation of their insurance to let anyone who is not an employee to go into the kennels (due to possible biting and such), and most dogs have separation anxiety (which can lower their immune defenses and is why they require to see shot records). There are things that must go into consideration about all the reviews as well: #1 9 of out 10 times, only people who want to write negative things are going to search out ways to voice their opinion, #2 My experience with PC is dated, as I have not worked for them or been near them since the early 2000's, #3 If you really want to form a true opinion on them, you should go to them directly, ask them about the things you have read, and how they are willing to make you more comfortable about buying a puppy or boarding your animal.

Puppy Corral is the worst! I bought a white boxer from Mindy M (the one with the review below) about 8 months ago. First of all they lied to me about his age: they told me he was 8 wks and when I got him to the vet he was actually 12. When I got him he had intestinal parasites, pneumonia, fluid on his lungs, and patella luxation. He was cared for by some of the best vets in this city but they told me he probably wasnt going to make and they see this a lot with Puppy Corral. When I called and informed Mindy of the situation, she told me to wait to see what the vet says about his knees in a couple of months. (I dont think she expected him to live.) From that point on they dodged me. Now I have contacted them again because his surgery is going to cost $3,000 and its a genetic defect. I was informed by their vet that they are supposed to pay for it but they are still giving me the run around.

I am going to comment and probably address most of the reviews that were written by people. I started in the pet industry in 1989 selling pet supplies. I was trained very well in all aspects of the industry especially canines. In 1993 I was hired by the family that owns puppy corral. I soon found out I was very good at selling puppies I had a passion for placing puppies with the right families and fully educating them on the all the needs and behaviors of the different breeds. Bad thing is I never questioned where they came from I did not even know what a Puppy Mill was. When they started their first store here in Memphis it was called Puppy Showroom. I started to become uneasy about the owners they seemed to be completely money motivated and did not seem to care about the puppies.(that is when I discovered puppy mills) One evening when I was about to close the store there was a sick puppy I wanted to take to the vet, they would not let me and tried to make me play vet. I was then recruited away from this store by a major pet store. I actually investigated where their puppies came from. Believe it or not there use to be a few reputable kennels. (Pre- 911) There was no interbreeding or over breeding. They were completely staffed with a vet crew and knowledgeable caretakers they were even approved by the aspca. The overhead to run an reputable kennel was very high. So my store paid anywhere from 350.00 to 600.00 at cost for their puppies and that included ( that did not include our overhead and vet bills.) warranties that were honored. We did not have to worry about(very little) birth defects or other health problems. Our vet came in weekly and we took the puppies to the vet if they became sick. However the days of these types of kennels are obsolete. The days of any reputable puppy stores are no more. Puppy Corral is and has always been run by the same family. First Pat and Gerald Mclain and now their son Greg. In a word they are money hungry vultures. They prey on people that are not educated in the facts. And believe me when you walk through that door your going to be attacked by commissioned salespeople that will do or say anything to get the sale. Eventually my own pet store started cutting corners I then chose to leave the business. I tried working for a couple more pet stores But not at the expense of lying or cheating anyone. Puppy Corral probably pays 100.00 to 250.00 for their puppies. And I know for a fact that one of their breeders in Mississippi was busted last year for being a puppy mill. I have been on the other side and the warranties are bull. The quality of pure bred dogs have gone down due to the economy. And stores like the puppy corral. Puppy mills are horrible and (try googling them and seeing for yourself.) I now work in the rescue end of the business. And I suggest If you want a good pure bred go to a personal breeder who has a love for the breed and then you can see where they come from. Check the paperwork carefully or take someone who is knowledgeable of temperament testing, shot records, and anything pertaining to purchasing a healthy puppy. A vet tech would be a good choice. However the shelters and the humane society are full of unwanted pure breeds if that is what you want. Puppies usually end up there because of places like puppy corral you would not believe how expensive your vet bills can be when there is breeding for merely profit involved. (Puppies that are over bred and interbred can suffer birth defects and behavior issues.) Also Pup-E-Luv on summer ave is owned by the puppy corral too. What we have to do as a whole is fight to get these places closed. Reputable kennels or breeders will no longer sell to pet stores. Some of them never have. We need tougher laws and the requirements and restrictions on breeding. As long as there is a need for pure breeds it will be hard to close these stores. So stick with the private breeders(If you just have to have a pure breed )or adopt an unwanted Dog or Cat. However I am going to get personal too there was a comment below made by the supposed manager of puppy corral. You know they say birds of feather flock together. Her name is Mindy M and she has been fired for theft from two different stores I was associated with in the past. And she is a pretty good liar so she is one of the biggest vultures there at puppy corral. She has even been caught stealing from them. However they took her back because she is a sociopath and cares nothing about people much less the dogs. In other wards she will con you into buying a dog. The people that buy dogs from puppy corral have not been educated in these things, they are good a preying on the unsuspecting. I hope you will reads these comments before you go there.

WOW!!! Thanks to everyone for taking the time to post their experiences online. I am new to the area and trying to buy a couple dogs (puppies) and the Puppy Corral came up on my Google search. I called and spoke with a young girl who seemed great, then spent several emails & additional phone calls trying to GIVE them my money. After stumbling on this site it looks like the Big Guy was looking out for me on this one!!! I did not/will not buy an animal from this company. Thanks again everyone!

2010. The Puppy Corral is a disgrace of a company. The dogs are bough from puppy mills, and worst of all a girl who is suppose to me a "manager" Mindy? Was as a dumb as a rock. If she could tie her own shoes i would be surprised. I purchased a 2000 dog from them to find out that it was not registered even tho i got bs papers stating that it was akc. mindy was to concerned about getting the number of a kid that walked in then helping me with my papaers.....

We bought a Pembroke Welsh Corgi in 1999 from Puppy Corral. She has been an excellent puppy, breed, and fit for our family. Other than the fact that the breed sheds like crazy, they are truly charismatic additions to a family. I would suggest the breed to all. The posts about the quality, care, and general level of mislead sales do greatly concern me. I will visit Puppy Corral again and hope to find the place I visited back in May of 1999.

I will never buy a puppy from ther again. My first puppy was a cairn terrier, and he had some weird skin condition and was allergic to just about EVERYTHING. In the end we ended up giving him away to someone else because we couldn't afford to pay his medical bil for all the ointment it took to keep the rest of his hair from falling out. the Puppy corral said it was just a "breed problem" and that most cairn terriers get it. But I have a cairn terrier from a local breeder that is just healthy and fine. I also got a Yorkshire terrier that looks like it was crossed with a poodle, but they said it was "pure breed". The Yorkie also seems to have some kind of mental disability where he hears noises and starts acting crazy at random.

DO NOT BUY FROM HERE: new management or old management the dogs still come from puppy mills which is where dogs are continuously breeding and producing offspring in HORRIBLE conditions during which they have no interaction--which is for their ENTIRE life. The reason why these puppies die/very diseased is because of the close courters and the high breeding which causes high frequency genetic mutations.

These people and what they do are out right DISGUSTING.

We just had to have our Cairn Terrier put down. She was less than a year old. We bought her at the Puppy Corral in Collierville. She had so many allergies and skin problems the meds she was on did not work.

She was probably a puppy mill puppy and never got good treatment as a baby. Her immune system was basically non existent.

Please put a stop to this place. They are extremely good at bluffing the BBB. So any problems you have report them to the BBB and tell everyone you know.

This place sucks!!! We bought a Boston Terrier and it died 3 days later of distemper. They said will we give you one from the next litter. We wait...we get another puppy. After 2 mths of thinking this is the stupidiest dog ever.....We find out he is Deaf. I call the puppy coral and talk with Sandy the owner. She tells me to get a letter from the vet. I go to the vet, She writes "Based on my physical exam, behavioral assessment, and discussion with the owners regarding the dog's history, I believe the dog to be deaf." Guess what Sandy says..."Believe is not really concrete" So basically i spent 700.00 dollars to watch my first puppy die and then get stuck with another puppy i cant communicate with or train. And one more thing I don't really think he's full blooded. I have seen several Boston Terriers since i got him and looked through doggy calanders and he doesn't look like they do!!!!

I bought a Boston terrier from these people and he died from parvo 3 days after I got him home!!! So they gave me another dog that had worms when I got him and I found out he's DEAF!!! What kind of a place is this??? We got a letter from a vet stating he is deaf and the owner said that wasn't good enough. DO NOT buy a dog unless you promote puppy mills and cruel treatment to animals!!!

I picked up a puppy the day before Christmas Eve. I was apalled at the Collierville animal shelter when I heard them say they got a load of cats from a parking lot to get ready to check out for sale. I went by the Corral and the shop looked clean and well kept but had a suspician when they said they could order a rare breed for me and have it here in about 2 weeks. (that breed they wanted $1200 so I passed) I told them I wanted a smaller medium sized dog about the size of a Beagle or Jack Russell. What they showed me was a Fox Terrier as labeled on her cage and collar. She would be 14-18" and about 18 lbs. Pretty close to on target fo what I wanted. On examining her paper work at the vet she is a Toy Fox Terrier and will be about 8-11 inches tall and 4-9 lbs. The Jack Russell will be able to eat her. I already love her too much to fuss but wish I had gotten the rough and tumble dog I had wanted instead of the Taco Bell Dog's (Chiuaua's) sister. Oh and like the other comments on the list she had parasites too.

I used to work here. THESE PUPPIES COME FROM PUPPY MILLS. Incase you do not know what puppy mills are, google/youtube it. I swear anyone with a heart will be sickened by it. If you buy a puppy from here, you are supporting the puppy mills that they came from.

We purchased one dog from here, and luckily have had no problems, although they are VERY overpriced. We got them to come down $200 just by asking, and our price was still greatly inflated compared to costs from other breeders. I wouldn't recommend.

I bought a Siberian Husky in March while my kids were on spring break. It had visible worms in its stool the same day we brought him home. I thought I was smart by asking my vet to call them to confirm the worms so at least they could document it. Well the owner could have cared less. I took the dog back the next day after I paid from my own pocket to have it checked out & I didn't get refunded for the puppy or his medical treatment. We kept the puppy because I didn't want him to be neglected anymore it would only lead to death. I could not leave him there. This company is a disgrace to Collierville & should be ran out of business.

Just stopped in to take a look, as I am a BIG TIME animal lover. I had seen their TV commercials showing a lovely Weimeranor pup and a few others. However, the reality is when I asked for a 5-generation pedigree, I was shown a handwritten (illegibly) pedigree, with names on it like "Fluffy" and "Bozo". Having bred and shown Oriental Short hairs and Siamese all over the country, and insisting on a complete 5-gen pedigree, any cat I bred or bought from another breeder ALWAYS had the cattery name either as a prefix [if I bred the cat) or a suffix, if I bought the cat from another breeder. Puppy Corral is no different than most pet shops: they buy from"back yard" breeders: their puppies often have not had necessary shots; they are very prone to parasites and sadly, there are a lot of cases of heart worm. First decide what you want in a dog & then locate several breeders. Ask them to give you the name of their vet, and call him/her. Most breeders pet have quality" animals that are not perfect to show. BEST BUY

I went to look at puppies at Puppy Corral and the sales lady first of all lied to and played me against another lady not to mention the puppy was sick, returned dog next morning and promised the first pick of the next litter, it's been 7 months and I have not received a dog or one phone call. They have over $1,000 of my money that I will sue to get back as I do not want a dog from there. Worst mistake I ever made.

I love the puppy corral. The staff is professional and my dog likes it there. We use the boarding facilities and when we return, our little cricket is bouncing with joy. They tell us stories about her stay and describe her personality

Buy from a breeder directly or go to a shelter. Puppy corral is overpriced and puppy was very ill when we took him to the doctor after only having him for two days. We almost had him a week when he passed away. Please do not buy from here. Too many people I know have had similar experiences.

Cons: My puppy passed a week after I took him home.
