These guys are a joke. Don't take anything to them except some gas, maybe they won't screw that up too bad.

Had a Volvo with some vibration and Polly spoke as if he knew exactly how to fix. Well, some $ 1300.00 later, same problem
and Polly seemed pleased with himself he offered me $ 100 off.

I finally went to Darryl W, and another $ 900 got it fixed properly. These gomers should be ran away from. Just say NO..

Total Rip Off. These GOMERS slapped on $ 1300 worth of parts to my Volvo and did not even come close to fixing my problem.. Ended up at Darryl W, and they fixed for $900. All Polly did was knock off $ 100 in parts cost and acted like he

The people here have to be the rudest I have EVER come into contact with...I saw one man yell at a senior citizen and had her crying because she did not park in the right place...I went inside only to find some woman who didn't want to hear what was wrong with my car and would have a mechanic call if there was anything they found. Of course, they always find something and its 5 times more than what they tell you on the phone when you go to pick up your car. When they did call to tell me my car was ready...I told her I might be a few minutes late...Her advice was to hurry up they didn't get paid to wait around for people nor did they have the space to store my car. AWFUL SERVICE.....I wouldn't have even given this place 1 star, but had to to review it.....so disrespectful to all.....others have had the same experience and refuse to go back. Do yourself and your family a favor and find someone that will at least treat you and others with some respect.

My wife, daughter and I have been taking our cars to Kenny Polly and his late father since 1980. They have kept them running -safely- up to the minute we're ready to trade- probably 18 different autos! When we're looking to buy another used car, we take it to Polly to check it out. Daughter's Jeep is more than 200,000 miles old - thank's to Polly's. When it's a job they don't or can't do, Polly's referrals are spot on. We have referred dozens of friends (many teachers) and they all have voted ""Thumbs Up.""

I had a terrible experience here. I took my car in, paid $700 and was given back a vehicle with the exact same problems it went in with. I took it back to Polly's and was told there was nothing wrong with it other than age, but that there was no refund for the original service--why was this even done if the issue was ""age?"" Despite being told that my car that shook and revved when in neutral was ""normal,"" I took it to the dealer, and had it fixed in a day for only $350 (it was a motor mount issue, which Polly's told me would cost $500-$800 to have done and was ""not necessary""--yet this service from the dealer completely fixed all issues I was experiencing). I don't plan on straying from the dealer again, and I will certainly never take a vehicle back to Polly's. I wasted $700, a good four days without a car and a lot of frustration.

If you don't mind car service that cost more, takes longer, and is makes the customer feel like a nuance then Polly's Shell is a great fit for you!\n\nI have taken a number of vehicles to Polly's over a period of about 5 years. For some reason I keep going back, but after this last $100 oil change I am done.\n\nThe service representative is rude and coarse and generally hates her job from what I can tell. I can understand that and look past it. They tend to be a more expensive than other places, but do decent work. \n\nWe have had thermostats on two cars replaced there and didn't have any problems. However, we had break pads and rotors replaced there and they squeaked as we pulled out of the parking lot and didn't never stopped. (minor issue, if guess). \n\nYesterday I went in for an oil change and asked for an estimate on replacing the power lock actuator on one of the doors. I received a call with the $350 quote and decided to wait on the repair. I was shocked when I picked up my vehicle to have a $100 bill for an oil change. Apparently estimates for doing a job cost an hour of labor (and I got a deal of 1/2 an hour).

Unprofessional and rude. I recently dropped off my vehicle at Polly's Shell. The second that I walked in I had the privileged of hearing the woman behind the counter (probably Polly) bicker with the mechanics on staff. Not only were the repairs almost a thousand dollars, but they had my vehicle for almost 4 days because they ordered the wrong parts. In my business, if I had caused a customer extreme inconvenience, I would at least have the courtesy to give them a discount. Nope. I still had to pay almost a thousand dollars. Never again.

I have lived near Polly's for 3 years and have been taking my cars there ever since. They have always been honest and done good work. However, things seemed to have changed over the last year. I recently made an appointment for an oil change (yes, I considered it worth taking to Polly's even if I had to make an appointment)... I arrived 10 minutes prior to my appointment time since the man who scheduled it was kind of rude and told me not to be a minute late.... I walked home and 4 hours later they still had not gotten to my car! ...I picked it up and took it to Valvoline... where everyone was nice and it only took 15 minutes!\nPolly's made no apologies for the poor service nor did they seem to care that I just got my key and left. They have lost my business for good!

I worked for Polly's 20 years ago when I moved to Nashville. I will tell you that the name Polly means honesty and excellent service. Kenny (Owner) not only taught me mechanical skills but also the importance of honesty. I was taught to diagnose not to just put parts on a car that arent needed till its fixed. This is a service center that is up on the new technoligy but still has old schools values on honesty, and integrity to its customers.\r\n

I've always had good luck with Polly's service. We used to use them for my old work and I've been taking my car there for the random fixes that a 1998 truck needs. They are always very fast and reasonably priced.\n \nOnly downer (and not a full 5 stars) is if you leave your car for any length of time, it may smell like smoke when you pick it up. Kind of a bummer but other than that they take great care of you!

I was recommended to Polly Shell from a few different sources. The staff is always friendly and usually very quick in getting the job done. They do get quite busy, but work hard to get my car completed as early as possible. I recommend getting there early in the morning so your car is done much sooner :)

Polly's is a family run business and they have been in business a long time. The men who own it now learned from their Father. They are loyal to their customers, honest and NEVER fail to help when you need them. They have always repaired our cars in a professional manner. They are especially courteous and kind. They NEVER fail to do the right thing by their customers and anyone who has written these reviews must expect something that is not humanly possible as I have never known the ""Polly bosy"" to be anything other than polite and kind to everyone who comes in their business. They appreciate their business and do all that they can to help one when in trouble with a car. They keep old cars running because they know some people cannot afford new ones. They never fail to offer some solution that is affordable to a problem. Thank God for the Pollys. They are not across from a church for nothing. Nancy Russell

Although this shop came highly recommended by several people and these reviews, I will not be patronizing them. Additionally, they are located in my neighborhood. I patronize local vendors whenever possilbe. It is good to help the small businesses succeed.\r\n\r\nMy qualms: I called Monday to schedule a time to bring my 68 Caddy in to get the brakes looked at (I was in no rush-a week out would be fine with me given the high accolades). They told me to call back Thursday. ""I can't schedule an appt later in the week or drop it off?"" ""No, call back Thursday.""\r\n\r\nThurs morning rolls around and I call. They told me to call back tomorrow. I advised that is what they have told me already. Can I schedule an appointment? The guy on the phone hollered at someone else and still came back with ""no."" I persisted to try to get a firm time, finally the ""boss/owner"" got on the phone and asked if he could help. I said I would like an appointment, but questioned if they even take appointments. He advised he just didn't have time for my car. No joke buddy, that is why I want to make an appointment for when you do have time! A schedule-have you heard of one? Brakes are a 68 Caddy are pretty darn standard and doesn't take much expertise. I advised to him that even though several people had recommended his shop I will be taking my cars elsewhere. His response: ""That's fine."" \r\n\r\nIt appears that these bad reviews may be adding up. Make your own judgment, but I wouldn't use them if my car broke down in front of their shop and I had no money for a tow truck! Maybe big business will get my patronage afterall. They do tend to value their customers better.

As a female in my young 20s, I had my first really big car problem and had to handle it on my own. I found Polly's Service Center on Citysearch and read great reviews. Polly's is absolutely exceptional, and I will recommend it to all my friends. I am BEYOND impressed by their friendliness, honesty and very fast service. I took the car in at 7 a.m., and they had installed a new starter by 11:45 a.m. I think they appreciated me calling ahead to see if they could fit me in, as opposed to just showing up. The final cost was ONLY HALF of the estimate - they charged less for the labor because I guess it took less time than anticipated. They made me extremely comfortable, and I am thrilled with an experience that could have been a lot more painful. When I thanked the mechanic and told him how much he helped me out, he said, ""We just treat people the way we'd want to be treated."" I will use Polly's anytime my car needs work. I highly recommend this place.

I was referred to Polly's years ago by a friend who had literally used them since he was 16 years old. In fact, his dad was a customer of Mr. Polly from way on back. I have been taking my vehicles exclusively to Polly's for about 5 years now, and have not had anything but great service. I have found Polly's Service Center to be very honest and affordable. Their prices are standard market rate, but you can trust their work to be done right the first time. I have a better than average knowledge about car repair, and do some of my own work. So I can ""speak the language"" with confidence. I've found nothing but great service and straight forward answers. Kenny Polly will not cheat you. They are my kind of mechanics ... they'll tell you it has to be fixed, or that you can ""live with it a while longer."" They are not magicians, and cannot perform miracles, so I'm sure they get things wrong sometimes - but deception is not their business model in a market where you are often deceived. You can trust them.

I am a 28 year old woman with little knowlege about cars. I took my car to Polly's and they did a great job. Dale let me know what was wrong with my brakes and what options I had (three or four different suggestions). He told me what he would do if it was his car. He explained how long I could wait to get the problem fixed and how to spend the least amount of money. The entire process took less than one day from start to finish. The service center is tiny and chaotic but they did a great job on my car. I have been living in Nashville for five years and my only regret is that I didn't find this place sooner.

I've been taking my automobiles to Polly's for 15 years and have always been impressed with their serivice, and I've referred a number of my friends, who have also had very kind things to say about Polly's. I've now moved accross town, but go out of my way to let them do work on my vehicles. Reasons why: \r\n\r\nThey're honest and straightforward. They don't recommend work that doesn't need to be done (they'll usually advise against it if you suggest it). \r\n\r\nThey do a good and thorough job. \r\n\r\nThey do the work for a very reasonable price. \r\n\r\nThey don't attempt work they're not qualified to do-- my wife's car had extensive wiring problems, so I took it to Polly's. Mr. Polly checked the car out and told me it was out of their league, but he was able to recommend a place that specialized in such work. THAT place did a great job for a good price. \r\n\r\nIf they notice a problem you weren't aware of, they'll call you and explain it. \r\n\r\nIf you have an emergency (""oh, geez, this is my only transportation to work""), they'll do their best to help you. \r\n\r\nIf you have a question about their work, they'll explain it until you're content. \r\n\r\nSome here have complained that they can be rude, but I see them as being honest and direct. They are VERY busy most of the time, so it's always best to call ahead and make an appointment if you possibly can. They do have to be careful about managing the space on their lot (it IS small) and they don't like to have vehicles sitting on their open lot overnight. \r\n\r\nLike his father before him, Kenny Polly is a fine man and I have no reservations about trusting my vehicles to his staff. If I lived out of state and had a child in college in Nashville, Polly's Shell would be taking care of their auto. They've got a great towing service, too. \r\n\r\n

Polly's is the best service center in Nashville. I'm a student at Belmont, and they always treat me with courtesy and respect. When I was hesitant to have my car fixed, they called my dad and explained the problem to him, so I could get his opinion. Now they call him to tell him what my car does and does not need before they do any work to it. Twice they've fit me into a booked schedule - once to fix a flat tire, and once to fix a radiator leak. The first time I went there, I shopped around for the best price, and that's why I tried them - their service is cheaper than dealer repair shops. Several of my friends at Belmont have had similar experiences there. The mechanic said he had teenage girls, and he wouldn't want them in some strange city without a mechanic they could trust.

Pros: Great attitude, honest, affordable

Cons: Bad parking - have to park across street

I am new to Nashville, and when my car wouldn't start on its own, a colleague recommended I call Polly's Service Center. I told them my situation and even though they were busy, they told me to go ahead and bring in my car. I thought I needed a new alternator, that it would cost $200 to $300, plus a car rental for a couple of days. Turns out, my 3 1/2 year old battery was at the end of its life. It only cost me $97 and TEN MINUTES of my time! \r\n\r\nNeedless to say, I was VERY pleased with their honesty, speed and willingness to take me in when they were already busy. I will take my car in this Saturday to get the oil changed.\r\n\r\nOne reviewer said they were rude, but if you call ahead, are friendly and recognize that they have busy schedules just like the rest of us, they are perfectly fine. Besides, as a woman seeking a mechanic in a new town, I'll take an honest grump over a polite bamboozler anyday. \r\n\r\nBest wishes,\r\n\r\n\r\nlej3z

Pros: HONESTY, Speedy Service, Good price

Cons: It's across town from where I live, but I'll still continue to use them as my mechanic.

I dropped in to Pollys the other day to see if I could get my air conditioning looked at and was literally SHOUTED at by one of the mechanics for not making an appointment. I simple Sorry, but were too busy right now would have been fine. Perhaps the good press the company received under previous owners has translated into volume that this small service station is not equipped to handle.\n If things there are so frantic that the staff becomes abusive to the customers, the level of service that cars receive probably suffers as well. On the other hand, perhaps the staff is just exceptionally rude. In either case, you would be better served taking your car elsewhere.
