Bari's influence is Capurso, a small town near the Adriatic Ocean in southern Italy, the heel of the boot. It is primarily an agricultural town that survives off what the land provides it. It is blessed with multitudes of olive trees, grapevines, fig trees, citrus trees and even prickly cactus pear plants, as well as all the wonderful things that come from the sea. This is where my family is from. My wife and I truly believe this is the greatest type of food because it is "simply what it is", the freshest ingredients of great quality blended together to make divine dishes that are simply prepared. We honor my family by preparing these dishes exactly how they have been prepared for generations. We ask that you respect us for that and not compromise our integrity by asking to change anything. We hope that you enjoy our cuisine as much as we enjoy preparing and serving it to you.

I had my 1st date with my husband at Bari and we went back to celebrate our 1 yr anniversary. The cheese selection is phenomenal- ask the waiter to choose pairings for you based on your wine selection. Fantastic food (not your average noodles & sauce junk), knowledgeable staff (they have tried everything on the menu- they're the experts), beautiful atmosphere (quiet & romantic). We'll be back for our 2nd anniversary next April!

If you're looking for traditional pasta dishes that you think of when you think "Italian," then go elsewhere.
If you're looking for Mediterranean Italian, this is the right place.
The food tastes pretty good, but it's a tad bit pricey.

Great food...Great service!

I had a wonderful dinner here on 9/12/09. Our server was very knowledgeable. Good selection of wine and cheese. There were 4 in our party and we all loved every course. Hope to go back soon!

Great food, Great Service, Very Reliable

I have dined here on several occasions and have left happy every time. Our waiter (Hunter) knows the menu and always has great suggestions. The wine list is extensive as well as the cheese selection. I am not an expert on either but with advice from Hunter I have never been disapointed. It can be a bit pricy but is worth it in my opinion. My favorite dish is the ahi tuna as well as the speghetti carbonara. We will return again and again.
Pros: Great authentic Italian dishes, delightful service
Cons: none

not so great
by chicagodavid
was at this restaurant on 4/5/08 about 8:30 PM. Cheese course: Not enought different types of cheeses, portions were "weak" . Waiter tried to upsell everything. Salad was different, but not spectacular. Main courses ok, but not great. Nice wine selection. Expensive for what it is.......about average at best. I would not go back.
Pros: not many
Cons: too many for this short space

Best Italian
by pdl20
The atmosphere is very nice and the service is excellent (you don't find service like this in Memphis very often). They have a great selection of wines and cheeses. The plates are small and simple, but delicious!! Very authentic italian food.
Pros: Excellent service, parking, authentic cuisine
Cons: expensive

Delicious & Authentic!

Our dinner at Bari was simply delightful. The plates are smaller so you can order more courses. The eggplant fritters and cheese platter are a great way to start. Our entrees were fish and steak, which were both well made. Be sure to ask for a table in the center of the room, as the other tables may be drafty on a cold night. Service was very attentive.
Pros: Fresh, Simple, Delicious
