I recommend not to rent from Buyers & Harvey. In 2010 my husband deployed to Afghanistan and he took the orders to Buyers & Harvey to inform them that we had to dismiss our contract. At the time we were good to leave and everything was good we got the deposit back we left on good terms. When he returned in 2011 we went right back to Buyers & Harvey in the past we really liked the place so we wanted to move back in them. Now they charged us $625 for rent and $625 for deposit 2 bedroom. Only this time we moved on out in April due to orders again we notified them. We were moving out of state and the future management wanted Buyers & Harvey's rental information and reference. We have not ever been late on our rent, we do not cause any problems, and we kept to ourselves. Buyers & Harvey gave us a bad review to the point we were denied to get any place. Until we went to them in person and they apologized a lady did not know who we are and did not put the correct information down for our review. So when we moved out we did a walk through of the apartment the lady informed us not much money will be taken out of our deposit. Today I received the deposit back in a check for $60 of the $625 deposit. The papers of the totals and the pricing had different types of writing of multiple people and the price was white out with the original price less than what it stated on the paper. I will get a word with the property manager as someone of Buyer & Harvey tempered with the numbers. As I talked to the person who did my inspection said we all have different numbers stated on her papers and ours papers and he white out we all have different amount. For the future military family looking for a place to rent I do not recommend this company. They have so much excuses for everything and the ladies are not that business professional in their manners. Honestly I think families should really take their time to look around and find a place that is all about integrity, professional, respectful and well mannered business company. I do not like the fact Buyers & Harvey feel they can talk the talk but can not walk the walk. Its a two way street and they need to realize they wouldn't have such a successful business if it weren't for Fort Campbell Base and its soldiers and family. I guarantee that I will take this manner to another level of don't mess with my money and don't insult my intelligence. They will sure be hearing from me.

My family recently terminated a lease with Byers & Harvey in Clarksville, TN. As a military family, I am naturally leery of rental home agencies because military families can be easy targets for excessive rates and fees. The move-in process was relatively simple with B&H; we established our payments through an allotment system and had virtually no contact with the agency for one year, until we ended our lease and prepared to move out. That is when our issues began. \r\n\r\nThe house we were renting was being placed on the market for sale. No problem, as former homeowners my family understood the process. However, B&H failed to inform us that they were bringing potential buyers to view the home on 2 separate occasions. This may not be a major issue for some but at the time I was expecting my spouse in from a year long deployment at any moment; timing was critical to us. Having strangers show up at your door attempting to view as you are simultaneously trying to move out and welcome home your soldier adds to the stress and chaos of the moment. \r\n\r\nAn additional issue occurred during our final walk-thru. We were expecting to pay for paint out of the deposit; we agree to a fair amount with the B&H rep at the time of the walk-out. Our expectation to pay for paint was generous on our part. The entire home was painted in very thin, watered down flat paint. The paint was so thin that merely touching the walls left fingerprints and any attempt to wipe the walls with plain water completely removed the paint. We partially painted the walls with satin paint, in order to be able to wipe them. Because I did not paint the walls floor to ceiling, I expected to pay for some painting. The rep and I agreed we would pay $230, which was generous on our part given the closeout checklist clearly indicated that walls painted in flat paint did not have an expectation to be clean. When we received our deposit back 30 days later, we were charged $400. We were never contacted or notified that the agreed amount of $230 changed, nor were we informed of or given an opportunity to correct the issue that increased the cost. Essentially, B&H decided what they were going to do with our security deposit. \r\n\r\nThere were 2 other issues with our moving out process. One, we were not given the option of hiring a carpet cleaning service. The list indicates that B&H will deduct the carpet cleaning from the deposit, giving them free control over the rate charged. Two, the deposit held in a savings account that accrues interest; none of which was returned to us. Thus, B&H policies allow them to earn additional income off of the money held in deposit on all of their rental properties. For instance, if a security deposit of $1000 is held for one year (12 months) and earns 3% interest each month, that is $30/per month or $360/per year. This earning potential is in addition to the 10% fee charged to the homeowner that uses their agency. \r\n\r\nI have taken the time to submit my review because, quite frankly, someone has to. Anyone who is a serial renter, especially military families due to our penchant for moving often, has probably experienced the feeling of being taken advantage of by a rental agency and having no real recourse. I hope that this post gives someone the opportunity of choice in their next rental adventure.\r\n\r\nPeace and Blessings.\r\n

My husband contacted them and set up everything for me to go through the process while he was deployed (before we were married) so that I could get him a place to live when he came home. The staff was friendly, the apartment was excellent, and anytime we needed anything we only had to call. We stayed with them for over 1.5 years and never had a problem. Move in and move out process was excellent and simple! I would definitely suggest them to anyone!

Last year my husband and I rented from this company. When we moved in, it was so dirty and nasty. The stove door was hanging off the hinges, and the window was broken. My husband and I always paid our rent at the first of the month, and we were never late once. However we came home 3 times to Eviction notices on our door, due to non-payment. I kept my receipts, and bank statements showing we had paid. They said "oh sorry it was meant for the property above you." Funny it had both our names on it. When we moved out they took almost all our deposit. They "claimed" the apartment was nasty. My husband and I washed the walls. When we went over the cost of cleaning. It said, "mopped kitchen floor 75 dollars" Our kitchen was CARPET!! We have heard of other families with the same problems. STAY AWAY! they are crooks!

PROS: Cheap rent
CONS: they have a poor book-keeping staff, and rip you off with your deposit
