Rembrandt's Coffee House has a variety of wonderful coffees and scrumptious muffins, cookies and other bakery items. You can sit inside and enjoy the beautiful artwork where it is usually quiet and you won't be disturbed. Or you can sit outside on the Italian-like terrace that over looks Chattanooga. On a beautiful, warm day this is the suggested place of choice. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable about what options might be good for a particular customer.

This place is truly beautiful and amazing. The atmosphere is awesome - really European in feel, and just quiet, tucked-away, and special-feeling. They have great sandwiches, killer desserts (the Italian Cream Cake is FABULOUS), and awesome breakfast options, too. Their flavored tea is a nice treat as well. Pick up a little something, sit out on the patio under the vines and branches, and just totally relax. One of my all-time favorite, favorite places.

Tony's Pasta Shop, located in the Bluff View Art District, is the place to go for fresh pasta in Chattanooga. The restaurant is set in a converted old home that has seating downstairs, upstairs, outside on a covered patio and also upstairs on a deck. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. The menu is not huge, and you'd better be in the mood for pasta, because aside from a few sandwichs and salads, pasta it is. They offer a few already created dishes, as well as the option to customize your order by choosing the type of pasta, sauce and anything additional you might want to add. Beware, they also bring out delicious home made bread and olive oil and cheese beforehand and it is easy to fill up on that. Rembrandt's Coffee House provides their desserts and they are delicious. After dinner you can stroll through the art district, walk in the sculpture garden or go to Rembrandt's for one last coffee. It's a very charming little corner of Chattanooga and well woth a visit.

PROS: Great food, lots of seating capacity, good atmosphere
CONS:

After driving around Chattanooga for an hour amidst road construction and detours and trying (almost in vain) to find this cafe, I wasn't sure if the place would be worth it. Boy, were we glad we didn't give up looking! This quaint little cafe in Chattanooga's Bluff View Art District boasts a variety of delectable cakes (whole, slice and petites), patries (butter croissants to eclairs), soups (artichoke and tomato was so good), sandwiches (four cheese panini was very flavorful without the grease) and aromatic coffees. Rembrandt's also features breakfast fare which includes your traditional french toast to the healthy fruit, yoghart and granola. We dined here for both lunch and dinner for our day trip from Atlanta. Cafe lover paradise!

Nestled into the evening patio outside, you'd expect Central Park West to be peering at you through the gate. Rembrandt's is Chattanooga's old world retreat at the end of a long day of art hopping, a personal intermezzo for friends and significant others after the Tivoli or the Roland Hayes. The interior of this Bluff View coffee house is cosmopolitan, urbane--unlike other smokier, more raucous coffee houses downtown. Accents of wood and wrought iron make you feel as if you've found your own private retreat from the world. Chocolates and pastries are made in house, changing daily---try a chocolate macaroon with your espresso drink. If you get the daily trivia question right, your house coffee is, well, on the house. Rembrandt's certainly rivals any "big city" coffee house we have ever been to.
