The salon industry in Knoxville is booming. Salon Azure is growing too. They have moved into a much larger new space alongside Kingston Pike. It is in the Homberg area and has convenient parking. The stylists are creative and seem happy to be working in their hip new digs. Aveda products are the focus here - I love Aveda. I recently walked in and received great service and a great haircut without a prior appointment. I enjoyed the music choices and the whole atmosphere of this new salon star.

LOVE this place!
by KnoxGirl
I recently moved to Knoxville, and I had been trying to find a place to get my regular haircut & highlight. The only place that I was satisfied with was Salon Azure. Cindy cut & highlighted my hair, and Kendra washed and styled it. Let me tell you.. This duo made me look like a rockstar! I am soo glad I found Salon Azure, and I will continue to request for both Cindy & Kendra from now on!
Pros: Get Cindy && Kendra!!!
Cons: none :)

Love This Salon!
by maryrodio
The silly nit picky comments down there are ridiculous. I'm crazy picky about where I get my hair done and was traumatized when I moved here knowing I'd have to find a new salon to go with my new town.
I can be the impossible client that comes in with no idea what I really want at all to the impossible client that is way too specific on what I want and I have always left very happy.
The front desk has always treated me well. Never had any of those problems seeming like I was interrupting them that were mentioned. I am always offered a drink of tea or coffee.
I've never had products pushed on me what so ever. Sometimes I even have to tell my stylist I want them, other times I don't purchase any at all.
I've gone on many occasions, and treated friends to a new cut there as well and have always been treated very nicely and professionally.
The stylist and colorist are knowledgeable enough to recommend what might look best rather than just doing whatever. I've seen Rocky, Holly, Katie and oh gosh dear I forgot the most recent name for my cut (but I adore you too dear) and every one of them have pampered me, made me feel very comfortable and have been great conversationalist as well as stylist.
I'll be back next week for my next style and don't plan on going anywhere else. I'd recommend this to anybody looking not only for a good style but for a good experience and a few hours of pampering.
Pros: Knowledagble Stylist, Natural Products, Comfort, Professional but fun
Cons: None

Best cut and color in a long time!
by aaberry
Thank you Salon Azure! I live in the Bearden area and have "salon hopped" to all the salons in this area trying to find that reliable salon. Well, I've found it! I went yesterday (Saturday) and received highlights and a cut, which I needed desperately! I was a little nervous about going on a Saturday because I felt like it would be extremely busy and I wouldn't get the attention I needed for the new style I wanted. Well, I was wrong! Katie did my color and she was awesome! I will definitely be visiting her on a regular basis now! I told her what I was looking for and she made some recommendations and it turned out just the way I had hoped!! Michelle cut my hair and did exactly what I requested. Even though it was a Saturday, I received the service I was hoping for and never had to wait! Just can't beat that! Oh, when I was checking out I was expecting the price the be a lot more than it was because I know I've paid more elsewhere and for being a new customer they offer a complementary follow-up appointment to make sure your new style is what you wanted! Salon Azure...please don't change! I truly appreciate it!

Good hairstylists, bad professionalism
by kyndallmx
I visited Azure in February of 2007 and received probably the best haircut I've ever gotten. I thought the peppermint oil scalp massage was very classy and was something very different from any other salon I've been to. The front desk was very accommodating while I was waiting for my appointment. I have a very important interview coming up and was looking for a good place to get a manicure and highlights. I saw Azure on citysearch while searching and saw some of the business' responses to negative feedback. To "LOL" and poke fun at negative reviews seems more like something SuperCuts would do rather than a salon of supposed caliber like Azure. There is a much classier way to deal with it than how you guys handled it, and I'd rather spend my money where the business is actually professional in responding to its customers' problems rather than "LOL"ing at them and saying they're just jealous.

Awesome Salon!
by gmn5360
I recently had a baby and wanted a "Mommy makeover". I saw the salon in passing and figured I would try it out. I had an idea in my head of what I wanted to achieve and they made it happen! Rocky and Tera worked on my hair and they were a GREAT team!! I was VERY pleased with my new look. No complaints at all. They were very easy to talk to and Rocky seemed to really care about what color we were going to use. He was very specific about choosing a color. They also do complimentary makeup after your service!
Pros: Whole experience was pleasant
Cons: None

Awesome place! Holly is great!
by susiedew
Holly Schneck(sp?) does my hair and she does it perfect every time! I have never had a stylist who actually did my hair like I wanted it, but Holly gives me exactly the look I want! Great job, Holly!
Pros: Free trim between visits
Cons: none

The Best Salon Experience Ever!
by Ravendas
I recently lost 10 pounds and wanted to reward myself by splurging with a new hairstyle. I had heard great things about Salon Azure and decided to book my appointment there. Wow! What a great experience! When you walk in the door, you're greeted by such a lovely herbal scent. There's tea, coffee and nice cushy sofas to relax in while you wait. The complimentary scalp and shoulder massage was heavenly.
But I haven't gotten to the best part yet...the haircut. I tend to get stuck in a rut with my hairstyle, but this time I wanted something new, but only had a vague idea in my head of what I wanted. My stylist, Heather, took that idea, adjusted it to suit my features and lifestyle, and made it real...and it looks fabulous! I prefer my hair to be low maintenance and every other salon I've ever been to still insists on teasing, curling, and spraying my hair even though I've stated that I'm not going to do all of that when I get home. But Heather made my hair look great with nothing more than a quick blowdry and brushing. So, even after just a shower, brush and blowdry, my hair looks as fabulous today as it did the day I stepped out of the salon.
Despite the fact that Salon Azure tends to be a bit pricier than most other salons, I will definitely be making it my regular salon. It's absolutely worth it!
Pros: Ambience, Skill of Stylist, Little Extras (massage, tea, etc)
Cons: A Bit Pricey (but worth it!)

Friday, April 25, 2008. wanted to drop a line and let you know the excellent job Holly did on my hair the other day. I went to a friend to have it cut and was completely dissatisfied. She took the time to look at my hair and hear my concerns. She had several suggestions on how to fix it. She also took the time to show me how to style my new cut. This is the second time she has cut my hair and i can honestly say she has a client for life. thanks again, michelle nichols
Pros: Love Holly
Cons: n/a

Best salon in Knoxville!!
by Lou75
Great customer service. Very comfortable atmosphere and staff very knowledgable. My colorist does an excellent job no matter what I want, its like she just reads my mind. Wish they were open a little later and front desk could pay a little more attention too. But staff is very friendly and I love my stylists.
Pros: Knowledge
Cons: front desk

Completely disappointed!
by FashionForward96
I have visited Azure many times and am sad to say the most recent will be my last. After waiting 4+ hours for color (NO KIDDING!), I inquired about a brow wax while I waited. I then waited another 1/2 hour for someone with little and/or no talent concerning waxing. She could not find the tweezers and so only partially completed the service I requested. I later learned at check out that I was charged the full price for the service. The front desk attendants seemed to be disgruntled with the world. I liked Azure before it moved to the current location. I have since found a fabulous replacement for Azure and am almost glad I had such a terrible final trip!
Pros: Trendy Atmoshphere
Cons: Terrible and lengthy service

I was very impressed
by 2olivia
I moved from Nashville and was looking for an Aveda salon. First time I went to Salon Azure just to get my hair styled. I always do this with a new salon. I felt very comfortable and returned yesterday for a haircut. Zelda is my new favorite hairstylist. I am coming back for a follow up appointment next week. I am very impressed that they do that at no charge as a policy for every new client.
The salon is very hip and trendy. It feels very welcoming and easy going.
I recommend this business.
Oli
Pros: Professional staff & comfortable atmosphere, Aveda products, good energy.
Cons: Need more checkout counters to speed up checkout

The worst front desk we have ever met. Rude and rushed and inexperienced.
by kmichels
I have been to this salon only twice. The first time was in the summer of '06 and I was greeted with a cup of tea and a friendly face. I was interested in all the cool colors of hair on the staff and the front desk girl. Everyone I met was friendly and the tea was a great touch. Cindy did my hair and I loved it. No complaints.
Well, I dont know what happened but the place has changed their whole method of interacting with guests. I booked again for December just befoer the holidays and I guess in the year I didn't go all the old staff were gone. The front desk staff acted like it was lunch time at McDonalds. The rushed and talked about food orders - the days of tea being offered are over. I was rushed thru like you wouldn't imagine.
bad service. when you pay for a good color and cut you want an experience not just to feel like cattle. step it up, salon azure. you lost a customer. i would rather go where they slow down for one second and treat you like they want you to be there.
Pros: location is nice
Cons: front desk staff, not comfortable, loud talking about personal stuff

not what we wanted ,at all!
by erinwntrs
well my friend and i had picked out a really good haircut for her.it was something that she could pull off without a doubt.and what a parfect time?the salon was donating to locks of love.well she wanted this sort of lisa rhinna hairstyle and she came out with a even bob all around(with bangs)it was a cute hairstyle but totally different from what she had asked for.the stylist didnt say hey lets try this hairstyle or anything.she basicly took it into her own hands and done as she pleased/.she could have atleast went over what she thought would have looked good and let my friend decide.
Pros: donates to good charities
Cons: they do whatever they want

Average, at best
by newstome
I have gone to this salon for a haircut 4 times. Aveda, nice decor, despite hip vibe, they serve all types of clients. No one will feel out of place. The first couple of times were great, loved the stylist. The next time, I arrived and wasn't on the books despite having made the appointment in person at my previous appointment. They said their computer system had deleted appointments for my stylist who was out on leave. In other words, they deleted her book from the system without calling clients to reschedule but wanted to blame it all on the computer. Whatever, I'm here for a haircut and can excuse a little technical amateurism. They did put me with another stylist that day, however, she was considerably more expensive for the same haircut, which I was not told until checkout. This stylist was "hard sell" on products and also took the opportunity to diss my colorist (after first complimenting my great color) when she learned he did not work at Salon Azure. She recommended I use one of their colorists. No thanks, I'm happy, and even if I weren't, I'm not impressed by your lack of professionalism by talking badly about my colorist, who is one of the better ones in town. I went back a fourth time for a haircut, which I scheduled with the stylist I liked the first two times. The stylist didn't come in that day, so I saw yet another stylist. More hard sell on products. More "your color is beautiful, who does it?" only followed by hard sell on their colorists. Then stylist #3 practically held me hostage till I agreed to come back to her, rather than the original stylist from my first two haircuts. I'll concede the haircuts were all good with each stylist. Employees are obviously under some sort of sales incentive or quota program, and I recommend they either work on the soft sell or shut up! I'm in the market for a new salon simply because getting services at this place is like running an obstacle course, rather than a relaxing experience.
Pros: Aveda products, good techincal skills
Cons: Hard sell on products services

A terrible experience!
by kbell7878
I had high hopes for Salon Auzre, but this turned out to be one of the worst hair experiences I have ever had. The service was very lazy. The receptionists were not the least bit friendly. The hair dresser didn't come over for a consultation before my hair was washed (which is a must for all new clients). The man who washed my hair acted like he couldn't care less about his job. In fact he acted like I was bothering him by just being there. The hairdresser did not listen to anything I said. She didn't give me what I asked for. She didn't cut my hair evenly. She didn't touch my bangs and no I didn't tell her I wanted to grow them out. Also, I had cut them myself and knew that they were uneven. She did such a bad job that I now have to go get my hair redone somewhere else. The only redeeming quality was the lady who did the makeup afterwards. And the only reason why I got to meet with her is because she grabbed me at the register. The hairdresser wasn't going to tell me about that service (which was included in my package). I have complained about this and the manager called and left a message while I was at work. I called him back and have left messages, but for whatever reason I have never been called back. It was a Supercuts hairstyle served with an expensive salon bill. I had high hopes for Salon Azure, mostly because of their slogan, but they didn't live up to any of it. I will never go there again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who cares about their hair. It was a terrible experience and I would have came out better going to Supercuts.
Pros: Ample parking.
Cons: Service, quality & professionalism.

What a cool place. I had such a good time. Doing my hair has never been so much fun. I loved it.
by jaz_y
My color was exactly what I wanted. I could not explain it to the girl but she did such a good job. My friends are jealous. I loved the smell. Love the place. Gota go?

I hoped for more
by katiebitz
After reading these reviews, I thought Salon Azure would be the perfect salon for me. I had a stylist at another salon in Knoxville who I love dearly (but who is out on maternity leave) so I thought I would give this one a try. I did enjoy the atmosphere tremendously - very trendy and fun but still relaxing. Salon Azure is definately a place to get away for a few hours.
I went for highlights and had hoped to take my brown hair to a slightly richer auburn color. Upon consultation with my stylist, we determined a good color for my skintone and eye color. I assumed, however, these would be highlights, as I'd asked. She dyed my hair red, assuring me it would look great. As a petite twenty-five year old starting out in the professional world, I didn't want something too drastic or too trendy. I'm afraid I wasn't clear on exactly what I wanted with my hair because in the end, I am not very satisfied with the results. I have to give a presentation tomorrow and am dreading it. I truly wish I had been more specific about what I wanted (here's to hindsight). That said, I am hoping the red will fade fast and give way to the natural brown color I truly loved (and just wanted to kick up a notch). I also had a haircut and I believe, ultimately, this might be why I don't like the color. My hair looks boring and heavy, with much more length gone than I wanted. My bangs look like they were cut by a third grader. I asked for a a slant starting just above my eyebrow but there are tiny pieces that stick straight out.
I was impressed with the kindness and spunky spirit of my colorist. She was great, and I wish I'd done a better job of helping her see what I wanted. I am looking forward to my follow up appointment, a free appointment one week after the hair color and cut to re-assess everything. I'm hoping to talk about ways to tone down the color. In the end, this is all probably more my mistake than the salon but I don't plan on going back.
Pros: friendly staff, fun yet relaxing atmosphere, very accomodating, very professional
Cons: difficulty communicating with stylists, unsatisfied with final result

artistic, eccentric atmosphere; wonderful smells; talented hairdressers
by annielucas
Azure is sure to give you a satisfying experience. Their staff are knowlegeable with specialists in their field and they all seem to LOVE what they do! Mondays are good for those who want a more relaxing atmoshere, where as Thurs.-Sat. will be sure to make you feel like you're in a buzz of creativity and excitement. I have seen young, old, conservative classics as well as those who like to have the latest hair trends.
Pros: atmoshere, quality of services
Cons: not good for those who are sensitive to smells

Wanna Life Saver?
by lovinglife26
Well I would like to start off by saying that I had made the decision to make a major change in my hair. I went to a salon in town and got completely butchered. The color was horrible and the cut wasn't much better. So, I called around to different salons and came across Salon Azure. When, I called the staff was so helpful. Instead of asking me to come in, I spoke to a stylist that told me not to worry and assured me that they could help and would get my hair back on track. That was comforting to me. I drove down to the salon and went in. I was so impressed with the salon. It was clean, smelled amazing, and everyone seemed to really enjoy what they were doing. It just felt right. I didn't feel like it was a stuffy normal salon. It was comforting and had an edge to it. It looked more like a studio, then a salon. So the stylist I spoke to on the phone came up to meet me and walked me back to their chair. Telling me that they could get me to where I wanted to be. We went through the process of the correction. I was so scared that my hair would fall out from damage, but in the end my hair was so shiney and looked great. The stylist told me it was the color and that they use a natural oil based color, and that it would deposit conditioners to the hair instead of drying it out. In the end my hair was exactly what I wanted. I loved it. Thanks Salon Azure.

by lanaosmo
I found my salon. New from Atlanta, I was impressed with the atmosphere and service detail. They have a very modern salon. I did not expect to find something like that in Knoxville. Very, very good value! I was impressed with Aveda experience and smells. I started using some Aveda products on my hair; shampure, volumizing tonic and control paste. It feels great. You will love the follow-up appointment!
Pros: Good value, modern, very friendly and comfortable.
Cons: Difficult to book on Saturday and not open on Sund

Interior design is unique. It is more like an art studio. Designers are constantly bringing new ideas. I like to be up to date or ahead of the curve. One thing, you will never feel not moving. What a cool place!
Pros: smell, design, creativity
Cons: , hard to get evenings, need one in farragut
