The food is great. The fruit tea is amazing. I love everyone that works there. They are sweet, They make you feel at home. The food is the best in Nashville. The soups are always sooo yummy. The celery blue cheese is the best I've ever had!! I love this place. I love bringing my family when they come in.
This is a great resturant that you will never know who you are going to see while you eat. Located in the heart of nashville you walk in to a nice place that has a yellow front porch. The people inside are very friendly and the food is great. The worst part about the tripa s having to leave and deal with the traffic. I hope you enjoy your food!
love love love love love this restaurant. Shawn is an incredible waiter. The food is consistently excellent. The menu is well crafted. Atmosphere is so lovely. I can't say enough good things about this place. GO There!!!
Have been going to YP for several years and it's our favorite restaurant in the city area. The food is excellent and menu/specials change frequently. Our server Todd is personable and does a fantastic job!
I've tried just about everything on the menu and never disappointed. Celery/bleu cheese soup is great, I enjoy the fish entrees, pork chop and baked chicken w/smashed potatoes, and they always have a crafty dessert.
Always a satisfying experience and take note of the small garden when you pull in. You also never know who you might see dining there - we've run into several C&W musicians.
Pros: Food, atmosphere, staff
Cons: Could have trouble parking
I live near Yellow Porch and often go there with my family to relax and have a great meal. The food is always excellent and Shaun (wait staff) is a super nice guy and always a pleasure to deal with.
However, I have had a consistently bad experience with this one guy who often works as host and sometimes waits tables. He was the host tonight (2/20) and was so rude and combative that I left. I wish I knew his name so I could post it because he is a nightmare.
I don't want to let this one person steal my joy because I absolutely love Yellow Porch, but he is so rude I will have a hard time going there again.
Pros: Great food; Excellent atmosphere
Cons: Host is rude
A coworker told me about this place. After reading the reviews I finally decided to make a reservation and go check it out. it was inlaws anniversary an they wanted to try something new. Arrived at the place and there was absolutely no place to park. The place was packed! (Arrive early). Parked on creepy little corner and walked from there. From the outside the place didn't look like much but as soon as we entered the charm and warthm became evident. It was such a cute little place that inmmediately understood why some other people thought it romantic. Our server Todd was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. I ordered the gnocchi and the paella and finished with the vanilla cremme brulee! It was all wonderful and fresh. My family had similar reactions to the food and service as well as the calm and welcoming environment. We will definitely visit again. Highly recomend this little piece of heaven!
The first time we went here, it was amazing. The food anyway, and Shaun, our waiter was great. He was attentive and polite, kept our waters full, and seemed to enjoy his job. I believe a lot of their food is locally produced and the pork chop is the best I've ever had.
The most amazing food, however, can hardly make up for a crappy experience based on service. We ate at Yellow Porch again last night and felt like a burden to the hostess and our server. Maybe if I were starving, I wouldn't mind being treated poorly, but since I'm not and there are plenty of very good restaurants in Nashville, I don't think I'll be going back, and I doubt I'll recommend Yellow Porch as heartily as I recommended it before last night. This was the second time we were slighted by our server there. If you choose to go and have the chance to request a server, ask for Shaun or don't go.
Pros: great entrees, nice ambiance, great bread
Cons: service, unfriendly hostess
Yellow Porch is a restaurant I could visit at least once a week during spring, summer and fall, and never get tired of it.
Great patio space (even though it overlooks Thompson Lane), great food (the Blue Cheese Celery Soup is wonderful, as well as the bread), great service (this is what Wild Iris SHOULD be doing).
My only advice is to get there EARLY. Otherwise, you'll be circling the non-existent parking lot forever, trying to snag a space.
Pros: food, patio, service
Cons: PARKING IS THE WORST
I have been dining at the Yellow Porch for over two years. I have dined there for both business and pleasure. I must say they are one of the best places around town. The service is exceptional and the food is top notch. Whether it is only two of you or up to 20! The service is great. You will not be disappointed. I have customers/employee's talk about this place months later.
Pros: Great service and food..
Cons: Menu pricing is on the high side, reasonable when comparable to other places.
I recently ate at The Yellow Porch for my 1st time. It most definitely won't be my last time to dine there. Food was some of the best I've ever had!, Chef Joey Lamb outdid himself! I hope they are paying him well! Wish I could afford him as my personal chef!! Appetizers were fantastic and so was the main course. Waiter/server Shaun did an excellent job also. Only downsides was that we almost drove right by the restaurant missing seeing the tiny sign outside. But main complaint is that the place was too dimly lit. Food that delicious , should be SEEN as well as tasted!! Needed a flashlight to see!!!!! Turn up the lights folks!! Those of you that haven't been to Yellow Porch should certainly try it out. You won't be disappointed!!
The exterior may not look the best, but the food is. The staff is fantastic, too. 10 out of 10! Thanks for all the great meals.
Pros: great food (I like the fish); fantastic service
Cons: the outside of the building
The fresh fish is always great and the menu changes daily, fresh seafood, and a solid wine selection makes this a great value restaurant. My friends and I dine there quite often and Yellow Porch is always an interesting mix of people and flavors. If you go for lunch you have to get their sour cream potato salad, yum the best.
Pros: Food, Location, service
Cons: parking and lack of outdoor quality space
Yellow Porch has the best food in Nashville by a landslide. If you are looking to take out of towners to a restaurant around town, this is the place. The Crawfish cakes are amazing, try their mussels too! AND my favorite of course is the shrimp and grits. My fiance is a steak lover and says they have the best filet around as well. If you don't know what wine to order, ask the wait staff, they are happy to help and always have great suggestions. You can't go wrong here!
Pros: the porch, the food, the service
Cons: can be pricey if you order too much!
Wow! We had a dinner Wednesday evening at this place. It was recommended to me by my stylist. Wonderful ambiance, romantic and unlike ''traditional'' Nashville. Our server, Johnny, was friendly and upbeat;we were very satisfied with food (appetizers, drinks, entrees, dessert); it was quiet on this weekday evening and we enjoyed light breeze sitting on a porch. Restaurant's hostess, bartender, and other waiters were just as friendly but not overbearing. And best of all-after having a dinner our bill came was not out of this world. Way to go Yellow porch!
Pros: food, service, ambience, romantic
This restaurant has always been my favorite in Nashville! I have a new job as a Concierge in town and I send everyone who asks for a recommendation to the Yellow Porch! Guests at the hotel make it a point to come back and let me know how much they enjoyed the food, service, and atmosphere of the restaurant! The food is outstanding, especially the nightly specials, the wine list is amazing, and I always have excellent service. I can't say enough, this place is great!
What a great little resturant! The atmosphere, the food, the service and everything involved with this charming place will make it a lunch staple of mine! It is a great place to catch up with friends, take your mother-in-law or just stop in to spoil yourself with some mango tea during a hard week. The food was excellent and the menu provided something for everyone. Indoor and outdoor seating provides an intimate environment with Southern charm. Loved it and will make it a weekly choice!
Pros: Atmosphere, Mango Tea, Food and Service
Cons: Crowded, Location and Parking
Love this place, great service, good food (grilled fish) with asian flare, reasonable wine prices, very low key and romantic, easy reservations, good location off the beaten path. I have had multiple meals there including lunch, the grilled fish is always great, the potato salad is wonderful for lunch. Great fruit teas, outdoor dining.... you would never know this restaurant is in the same family is the Flying Horse or Wild Iris's in Brentwood. Recommend this place worth your time and money.
Pros: Food, Service, Fish
My Fiance and I dined here on 1/15. The food was good....I called to make a reservation and was told, "6:30 will be o.k., but I have a 7:30, so you'll need to be out by then..." Hmmm.....didn't know what to make of that. For a second, I thought I was booking a massage.... Like I said, the food was good. Coming from NYC, it's always good to see original eateries like this one....small, low light, etc... Although the reservation was weird, I'm sure we'll be back. Everyone should get a second chance, right? Everyone, except for our waiter. He couldn't tell us the ingredients in their sangria.
Pros: Food, Romantic Quality, Reservations
Cons: Restaurant Size, Too low light, Service
My mother and I had lunch at the Yellow Porch in November 2005. A salad featuring sun-dried cherries steeped in port was outstanding. The other fare--a Greek salad, pasta special with chicken, and dessert--was competently prepared, but not remarkable. The only real drawback was the service; our initial drink order was a long time coming, and a second glass of wine never came at all.
The Yellow Porch isn't likely to compete with such places as Mambu or the Park Cafe. But for a pleasant, casual meal, it can be recommended.
Pros: competent food
Cons: slow service
I started going to this restaurant several months ago and it wasn't long before I started going every week. This is a wonderful restaurant. The food is terrific and the service is polite and attentive. In my estimation, the service almost always rates the highest gratuity.
Pros: Food, Service
The food is wonderful, but after 2 visits, the service proves to be less than desirable.
I have been looking for a place that we get great service as well as great food and wine( I could do an entire review about the wine list alone). Not only did I find that but so much more! A staff that was knowledgable, a menu that was inventive, and ambience as well! We have been there a few times and each time has gotten better. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a great dinning experience from the moment they walk in to the moment the walk out.
Pros: wine list, price
I have been to Yellow Porch three or four times now for lunch, and although the food is tolerable, and the lunch prices reasonable, one thing stands out that will make me never go back. The service got progressively worse each time I went back. The last time I went, the host had me seat myself outside although it was an empty restaurant, our server never came to our table, and the server in the section next to us passed our table (with two closed menus and no drinks on it I might add) twice before we finally got up and left. Crowds seem to love this place, and if you can put up with horrible service for an average sandwich and an eternally empty glass of tea, then this is your place. I will take my hour lunch and paying business elsewhere.
Pros: Good location
Cons: , Mediocre food
Yellow Porch is hard to find, and after dining there, you wish you hadn't! My wife and I cannot understand where all the previous great ratings came from. They changed chefs, maybe that's it. The food was far below par for the price and the way it was stated in the menu. It's tiny, and the patio is a joke. I sure wish I hadn't spent 20 minutes searching for the place. Plus our server told us his whole life story, unsolicited.
Pros: won't eat there again
Cons: , atmosphere, server
My wife and I recently dined at The Yellow Porch for the first time and were totally blown away with the food, service and atmosphere! This restaurant is a little hard to find since the sign is virtually invisiible but well worth finding. The shrimp puttanesca is one of the best I have ever had and my wife thorougly enjoyed the melt in your mouth tuna special. We have found a new favorite in nashville and will return time and time again.
Pros: food, service, ambiance
The Yellow Porch is my favorite restaurant in Nashville. The dinner menu is wonderful and the special board is dazzeling. Everything is delicious and seriously affordable. I love the casual decor and intimate atmosphere. The new wine menue compliments the food perfectly. The srevers are friendly. Chef Kim Totzke has some really nice vegetarian items on her menu. I am not a vegetarian but sometimes order her vegetarian specials. But her beef tenderloin beyond words. The lamb cassoulet is my current favorite. I also highly recommend the lunch menu. They serve the best turkey club I have ever eaten. If you leave Nashville without eating at The Yellow Porch you have seriously missed out.
Pros: inexpensive, new/improved wine lis, awesome specials
I relocated to Nashville from New York. I heard nothing about the quality of dining in the city other than barbeque and " meat and three's "and decided my best hope for the level I enjoyed in NYC was Atlanta. Wrong; my special delight is discovering the Yellow Porch. The decor and atmosphere are welcoming, unpretentious yet without that campy feeling many Nashville restaurants affect. The servers are friendly without being familiar. My wife comments on the fact that the servers never seemed rushed, adding to the ease we feel eating there. Moderately priced, compared to NYC, even inexpensive ,yet uncompromised in quality. I am pleased to see so many healthy dishes on the menu. The wine list boasts vintages which complement the food nicely. Chef Totzke greets us at our table; which is rare in larger markets. Nashvillians can be proud of a place like the Porch.
The Yellow Porch consistently provides great food. The special board is usually where we chose to eat from but the menu has our favorites as well. The servers are casual but on top of the service as much as nashville service is. The food is of a quality that you could find it in big food cities, but without all the pretense. The wine list is inexpensive but unique and of a high quality. We are always suprised at the consistency of uniqueness as well as quality. Hope to see more restaurants of this quality with this kind of casual familiar quality.
Pros: value, ambiance, good food
We tried out the Yellow Porch based on Hoyt Hill adding some of his wine picks to the wine list. It was everything I'm used to not expecting. The food was fabulous from the specials my friends chose to the Curry marinated Mahi Mahi with peanut noodles that I chose. The chef was at another table speaking to whom I assumed were regulars, she chose to take a moment with my guests and myself as well. She gave knowlegable wine suggestions as well as pointed us in a direction on the food. After leaving New York 6 years ago I've become accustomed to not receiving professional warm casual dining experiences. Looking for a place to relax and want to enjoy the ride, make your own choices or ask to speak to the chef. I suggest reservations, we did have to wait 45 minutes for a table without reservations.
Pros: great food, great wine, casually friendly
My friend and I met at the Yellow Porch Friday night, anticipating a lovely meal and good service. We were disappointed to be seated in front of a frequently opening door, as it was a chilly night. There were other tables available. We received menus (no water) and waited ten minutes, watching servers go from table to table being very attentive to everyone but us. Five minutes later (now fifteen minutes from the time we were seated), a couple was seated at a table beside us. They received menus and were immediately served water as their orders were taken and the specials were described. We decided to leave, as it appeared that we were being ignored. I have eaten at the Yellow Porch several times, but I will not eat there again. The food, as I recall, was delicious. Wish I could have had the chance to try it again.
Cons: inattentive service, snobby hostess, parking
Nobody seems to know about what is possibly the best restaurant in Nashville. Very cozy and romantic w/ an attentive and veteran staff. I have had several dinners and the level of excellent quality has never wavered. The food is fresh and inventive-particularly the specials and the salads. During the last dinner the owner recognized my party and made a point to come to our table. It had been at least four months since I had been there previously! Pricing higher than some, but worth it.
Pros: Inventive food, Attentive staff, Cozy and romantic
Cons: A little pricey
This is an exellent place to eat!!! You have to try this place it uses fresh ingredients and has wonderful food.
Pros: different, fresh ingredients, great service
