.

I love Chinese food, and I was thrilled when Asia House opened. Elizabethton has a few Chinese restaurants but Asia House is the only buffet. I took a friend there for lunch the week they opened.

I was disappointed by how few entree selections were available, and also by the lack of labels on many dishes; a lot of the time you just guessed what you were putting on your plate. The quality of the food was standard- a bit bland, a bit common. I was really let down when I ordered hot tea: instead of the traditional Chinese-restaurant oolong tea I got a pot of hot Lipton.

The atmosphere is slightly better than the average buffet, featuring motion-paintings and Chinese Muzak. The service was prompt and polite.

My friend sampled the sushi bar and said it was pretty good; he went back for seconds.

I think that I may try this restaurant again for dinner- I have heard that the dinner buffet is better than the lunch buffet.

Prices were about average: about $6-7 per person (before tax and tip)
