I have used Magnolia Kennels for several years. The new management has made significant improvements. Every visit reveals yet another upgrade or renovation. My dogs actually run from me to the staff! They provide unique care & attention for my dogs that I have not found at other kennels. My dogs are very well taken care of. Each dog has it's own inside kennel which is connected to an outside exercise run, just for them. I wouldn't leave them anywhere else.

Pros: Quiet setting, staff actually live there 24/7, open 7 days

Cons: Closed between 2pm & 4pm daily

We have been using Magnolia Kennels for about 5 years now and I have never worried about leaving my three babies there. I did use to worry when I left them other places, but at Magnolia they don't just board my dogs, they interact with them. They know Bubba doesn't eat well when he is away from home, and Bett is afraid of thunderstorms, and Einstein gets bored and chases his tail (and catches it.) Other kennels basically just stored them for us. This kennel cares for them for us while we are gone. My dogs don't like leaving home, but they are always happy to see the guys that work at Magnolia - because it is always the same people, not a new person every time (like some other places.) It is as close to them being at home as it can get (without giving them full run of somebody's living quarters :) Thanks guys - for putting forth that extra effort that keeps my babies happy and keep up the good work!

We recently left our beautiful dog to be boarded at Magnolia for several weeks while we had construction done in our back yard. We informed them that it would be 2-3 weeks before this work would be finished. They said they could accomodate us and we had used them before but not for such a long period of time. When I called to pick up my dog I was informed that "he had a little accident". I responded "what kind of accident" and was told he got out of his area and got into with another dog "bullrider" and that he had a bad spot on his ear where he had been bitten. When we got to the kennel to pick up my dog. I almost threw up at the sight of him. I could see his spine and all of his ribs. The dog looked like he had been starved and his ear was bleeding. They informed me that this had happened on Wednesday and I was picking him up on a Saturday(four days after the fact). I asked why had I not been notified and I was told that they had my number down wrong. Well I gave them all of my numbers when I dropped him off along with my vets information so they could verify current shot records. They stated that they called my vet and he told them that they don't stitch on the ear????? They did not take my dog to a vet or get him any medical attention whatsoever. When we finally got the dog to our vet they stitch my dogs ear and clean several other small bites wounds on his head and informed us that they never had a conversation with Magnolia regarding my dog. They also verified that our dog had lost 12 lbs while being boarded there and that this kind of weight loss is significant and was enough cause to seek medical attention. So they just lied about everything. I would never leave my dog with these incompentent people ever again. I feel so bad about leaving my dog with them but it will never happen again and I do plan on reporting this matter to the Humane Society and the BBB.

We had used Magnolia Kennels for a little over 3 years. We recently went on a week's vacation, and left our dog to board there as usual. I filled up his 8 lb. bucket of dog food, inserted in 1/2 cup scooper, and a typed instruction sheet, which included my cell phone number, as I normally do. When we got our dog home we noticed he was thinner. Even his collar was looser around his neck, he wanted to eat 3 times what he normally would eat, he as extremely clingy, and his bucket of food was not even half full. This was a lot of food for him to eat in one week. He never eats like that. After 3 days of odd behavior, constant eating and drinking, I called the kennel. I was told, by the manager, that she had mixed canned dog food with his food. Why had he lost weight if he had been fed, and where was the food that was missing from his bucket? I was extremely upset. I advised her that he looked as though he had NOT been fed, and if she did feed him canned food, she did so without our approval. She acknowledged this, acknowledged that she knew this could upset his digestive tract, and merely apologized. She was asked why she didn't call. She offered no response, other than to apologize. We will no longer be taking our dog there, nor would we recommend anyone else do so. We STRONGLY suspect that food was withheld from him, have contacted the Memphis Humane Society, and will be contacting the Better Business Bureau. This is absolutely unacceptable. I've left my phone number for the owner to contact me. I'll be interested in what he has to say about this.

On a recent trip out of town we left our dogs with the folks at Magnolia Kennels. We were very impressed with the clean and pet friendly atmosphere. We when first stopped in, the staff seemed very eager to meet our dogs and played with them. We felt very comfortable leaving out dogs in the hands of "pet lovers". Upon our return, our dogs seemed very healthy and happy. We will definitely use Magnolia Kennels again.
