Went there for first time with family. A family member took us. Friendly service. Quick to be seated and food was fast. Beer was very good. Oveall a nice solid place but nothing too wowing. Just your typical brew place, but the food is probably a bit better than some other brew places.

I'm a huge Boscos fan, although I usually go to the Franklin location, now that it's closer. When I lived near Hillsboro, I was there 3-4 times a week.
The beer is always great. The Flaming Stone is unique (although not my taste), the IPA is fantastic (and even better in the cask), and the dark beers are always great: Isle of Skye, London Porter, Schwarzbier.
The food, however, is merely OK. The pizzas are a nice complement to the beer, and should be only considered bar food. I wouldn't consider Boscos for a romantic night out for an entree. They do upper-scale bar food, but lower-scale entrees. Stick to the pizzas and the sandwiches and you'll be fine. The portabella club is great, and the ribeye sandwich is superb. The salads are pretty good too.
On the flip side, the tamale is a turd, as is the calzone. Most of the appetizers are very good, with the exception of the spinach dip. It used to be the best spinach artichoke dip I'd ever eaten, but they changed the recipe about 2004, and now it tastes like spinach dishwater.

Bottom line: go for the beers and the small dishes. Don't go for a company dinner or a romantic night out.

On a side note: I wish they'd fill growlers. I'd ONLY buy Boscos beer if they did. Frankly, I don't think it would hurt the business either. I'd still go there for the atmosphere, the food and the beer.

My wife and I went to Boscos on Saturday afternoon after the game for a quick bite to eat. I believe it was the manager on duty who actually sat us and she was extremly pleasant. Our server a tall young man with a shaved head was great!!!! He told us his name but I have forgotten. My wife was unclear about a wine choice and after speaking with the young woman with long brown hair, she received a taste of two in order to decide. My wife also has an alergy and the young woman managing again came back out to our table and guided her through the menu and the preparation and cooking of each item she was thinking of ordering. The manager actually dropped off our order herself and came back to make sure my wife was okay. By far the best service we have seen in Nahsville. We love Boscos!

I used to go here a lot because my co-workers always want to go, but I go reluctantly. For the price I'm paying, I don't get enough food. And there is always strange ingredients in the food. The muffaletta has carrots (?), too many olives, and the meat to bread ratio shows bread the clear winner. I had the grilled cheese lunch special yesterday. There was so much gorgonzola (ick) that I couldn't even finish it. Their pizza is lacking in amount, I get more with a frozen pizza for $1.00. Finally, the service is horrible in the bar area. Expect your server to ignore you from the minute you walk in. Sorry Bosco's, I've given you plenty of chances for redemption, and I always leave completely disappointed that I just spent $8 on unappetizing food.

I truly enjoyed my experience at Boscos. The food was great! I had the fiesta style shrimp pizza for my entree, and we shared the ahi tuna tacos as an appetizer. My boyfriend had a buffalo chicken pizza which was also quite good. We started out with the beer sampler so we could decide which was best! Bosos is in a beautiful building (the bathroom is nice, too) and is good for larger groups as the booths are enormous. I recommend this for a first date place or just an after work get together. They have trivia and drink specials during the week as well.

First time customer of Boscos in the Village. We came in due to long wait at other restaurants in village we will be back for not only brunch but for dinner and lunch as well. Great atmosphere and staff seemed to have fun while they were working.

This is a very place that has a very mello crowd or at least it did the day we were in there. Great micro brew. Break oven pizzas which were very good, great crust. Bit on the pricey side and service was lacking in the personal touch area.

I just wanted to take the time to advocate how much I still enjoy visiting Boscos in the Village. I too am a regular and have yet to experience any dissatisfaction from my service to the management staff. I am always greeted with a friendly face and hello and continue to have pleasant conversations with not only the bar staff, but also the management staff. As someone who use to be in the hospitality industry I know the strife and unpredictability that comes with seasonal and temporary employment. I feel that Boscos goes above and beyond to continue their strong reputation of the friendly pub around the corner. Most employees know me by name as does the management staff. The food is great, the beer is terrific and the service is stellar. Keep doing what you are doing.

I have been a regular at boscos for probably four years now and i have never seen this restaurant at such a low. The attitude by servers seems to be so negative and there is a constant flux of new faces which makes it hard to walk in and feel welcome. I hear rumors of threats constantly coming down from management which seems to evoke a dark cloud upon the place and people are quitting or getting fired left and right. I overheard one of the bartenders get chewed out over something insignificant and was appalIed by the way they were talked to. I hope something is being done to correct this. My viewpoint is shared by many other regular patrons and if this keeps up we wont be very regular any more.

Pros: Great bar service and beer

Cons: Poor management and high turnover. Service in dining area is poor at best.

.

we watched and overheard a manager chew out our server over something that was clearly a matter not related to the business of serving her tables, we asked the server if that was normal and she replied that it was just how the manager did things, and that she was quitting after her shift. it was very awkward. our service was fine, but the food quality lacked for the price we paid; the beer was excellent as always. we used to come here a lot, but the staff has changed and the atmosphere has lost its feel of a friendly neighborhood pub. we used to be able to come in for a beer or a snack and chat it up, but now it has the feel of a mcdonald's. no personality, no hospitality, and after what we witnessed last week, no direction.

When I first moved to Nashville 4 years ago, I was a regular here. The beer is fantastic, and I frequently had happy hour drinks and then stayed for dinner; they have one of the best veggie burgers in town. Over the past year or so, though, service in the bar area has begun to decline. At first I thought it was a fluke, but it's happened so many times now that I've stopped going and stopped inviting groups of friends. At times it would take 15-30 minutes for our server to check in with us or refill empty beers when we requested; worse, when we would try to pay our tab to leave, it might take up to 45 minutes. It made me understand why some people just walk out! What happened, Bosco's? You used to be so reliable!

Boscos is a local brewery in the 21st Avenue Vanderbilt University area of Nashville. This bar is well known and loved by locals for their good service, great ambiance, great, pizzas, sandwiches, and really great beers. The location of the bar and brewery is in the cute little district on 21st Ave with several other night spots. So it is a good place to start the evening, before moving on to another mingling spot.

Probably one of the best cups of coffee to be had this side of the Rockie Mountains. There is a lot for the southern sugar loving person to like also. They are well stocked with latte mocha flavorings and stuff to make a coffee a dessert in a cup. They also know their clientelle and refuse to lower their standards for a good cup of coffee. They have dark mellow roasts as well as a good French roast that works pretty well for your own espressos at home. Get a cup and take a pound home.

I arrived early and warned them of our 16+ group coming in for a 2 hour happy hour. They were very accomodating. The waiter came back numerous times to check on us and did very well keeping everything straight, a hard job considering many of the married couples were not sitting with their spouse, but wanted to be on the same ticket. Several people ate pizza and raved about it. Great beer selection and nice wine selection.

Boscos Leads the No-Smoking Charge in Tennessee

Restaurant Announces Weeklong ?Trash Your Ashtray? Fundraising Promotion
in Nashville to Kick Off Its Ban on Smoking

Governor Phil Bredesen signed the ?Non-Smoker Protection Act,? banning smoking in the majority of public places in Tennessee, including restaurants and bars. The law will go into effect on Monday, October 1, 2007.

However, Tennessee-based Boscos, which operates successful eateries / brewpubs in Nashville and Memphis, will formally eliminate smoking inside its restaurants more than two months earlier, beginning Monday, July 16.

To kick off its smoking ban, Boscos will sponsor a weeklong promotion (July 16 - July 22) at both locations called ?Trash Your Ashtray,? whereby the company will donate one dollar to the American Lung Association of Tennessee for every ashtray that customers drop off at either of the two locations. Participants will be required to present the ashtrays either to the manager, host / hostess, waiter / waitress or bartender. (Limit one ashtray per customer.) Each restaurant will have a prominent ?Trash Your Ashtray? receptacle to collect the donations.

In addition, the weeklong event also will include an award for the most unique / creative ashtray brought to each restaurant. The two winners will receive $100 Boscos gift certificates.

To ensure that the fundraising component gets off to a solid start, Boscos will ?trash? all of the ashtrays currently in use at its restaurants, and guarantee a minimum donation of $1,000 to the American Lung Association of Tennessee.

For more information on the promotion, please contact:
Chris Kizer: (615) 385-0050, 1805 21st Avenue S., Nashville, TN 37212

After leaving the debacle that is Jackson's, Bosco's welcomed me with open arms. It was past last call, but the bartender poured me and my pals a quick beer for the road, and was even nice to us. She cleaned, we drank, and left right before the road blocks started. Hell of a place.

We are pretty new to Nashville, but after dining and celebrating our anniversary at Bosco's we feel a little bit more at home. The service was great and they were packed! The food was unique and complimented the great beer that our server assisted us with choosing. We will definitely come back to this great place!

I went last night specifically for the Nori Tuna entree which in the past has been fantastic. Sushi grade tuna is to be clean with no veining or cartilage and this was full of it. Our waiter talked to the chef and I was told it was the same as always. No offer for another dish which I would have gladly paid for and no visit from the manager as promised. Over the past five years I have noticed the degrading quality of food at Boscos and attributed it to a bad night . One final thing. I was offered the obligatory free dessert. TO ALL RESTAURANTS! Offering a dessert after a awful meal is insulting and should be dealt with in a professional manner by replacing the meal or not charging for the unsatisfactory meal. Boscos knocked off half for a less than half eaten meal. Nice.

I've been to Boscos many times, usually with large groups. They are friendly and don't mind us moving around as more people arive. The food is mostly very good, with the veggie burger being a notable exception. There is a good open air feel to the restraunt and great booths. Don't miss the bread pudding of the day for dessert -- it's always fantastic!

This is not a good place to take your kids...the food was ok...but it was obvious that this is sort of a pick up, singles place...at least at night...We went for a late lunch...It should be noted that this was one of the places that my husband used to take his "dates" and now I know why....

My husband wanted to dine at Boscos because he heard they brew great beer, and they really do. We ordered a beer sampler, and it was quite interesting. We both really liked the flaming stone. We also split a pizza and both felt it was pretty good. We liked the wood-fired taste, but felt the cheese was a little bland. The service, however, was not so great. I don't think anyone that worked there smiled our entire visit. We also had to "chase" a server down every single time we needed something. The worst part was it took over 20 minutes to get our check because our server was on "break"! If you have a lot of time on your hands and want to try some interesting beer, then Boscos is worth it. If you're in a hurry and want a great meal, I would go elsewhere.

I've have eaten at Boscos numerous times since June 2004, with both large groups and as just a couple, and have always been highly satisfied with my experience. The pizza and beer are, of course, outstanding. The service has always been impeccable, but not overly warm. And, despite what other reviewers have offered, I find their food well above average. If the ambiance were just a touch warmer and friendlier, I'd give it my full recommendation.

I've been there twice, and I must say that (in my opinion, of course) that this place is overrated and overpriced. From my experiences if you are a brewery- make beer and if you are fine dining- do food. Boscos attempts to combine the two and gets neither correct. I had the beer sampler and only two of eight were good- the IPA and the Germantown Alt. The food is not bad, but for almost twenty dollars for an entree it should be better than okay. I had the halibut which was dry. It was served with sweet potato ravioli (only 3) and they could have been given to the Predators for practice. They attempted to fool me by making the plate pretty. Bottom line: mediocre food and beverages make Boscos so-so. I must say however that my service has always been prompt and friendly. No complaints with that.

Boscos is a beer lover's delight. The food is also very unique and good. Beer lover's usually expect to be around smoke, but for the non-smoker, this place can be a killer. The bar is at the front, so as soon as you walk through the door, prepare to inhale a few carcinogens. Tables anywhere in the front (left) or near the bar in the back are going be blanketed with smoke on a busy night. The pizza is real good, and the salads are very good, especially the sushi grade tuna salad.

Boscos used to be one of my favorites for a neighborhood dinner. But about a year and a half ago I noticed that the service and quality really took down hill turn. I've eaten there a couple time lately--and everytime the service has been SLOW and POOR. They mix up orders, things take forever, they over charge. It is really a frustrating experience. Plus, the food portions have gotten SMALLER and not as well made. They seem to be cutting corners wherever they can

It used to be my favorite...but I think I am DONE with Boscos now.

Obviously, some of these people don't know what they're talking about. Bosco's has the best selection of fine, microbrewed beers to be found anywhere in the metro area. The proof is in the pudding baby. Just check out the awards on the wall. Also the food is outstanding, and the service is excellent. Of course, I can only speak for the bar area, because being the beer lover that I am, that's where I sit. If you're a fan of the usual watered down, mass brewed beers (don't get me wrong, there's a time and place for them too), this is not where you want to go drink. This is a place for the true beer lover. I also like that they include the IBU's and gravities on the beer list. Excellent!

Some of my girlfriends and I went to All Fired Up! and then to Boscoe's afterwards. Because we went to the pottery place first, parking was easy because we got to park in one of their spaces, however, if your not going there then it is very hard to find a place to park! The service was horrible!! I had to ask for a glass of water three times before I got it. The food was okay but not worth the high prices. The waiter charged my friend for something that she didn't order. The only good thing about the experience was my Cosmopolitain, one of the best I've had other than P.F. Chang's

Boscos bills itself as "The Restaurant for Beer Lovers". Parking was pretty much street or nothing.

The atmosphere is very dim and trendy. The brewing works are upstairs and can be seen from just about anywhere in the bar.
The bar is pretty long and there are around 15 taps, all house draughts from the looks of it. Each sample is $1 ($8 in our case). The beers were diverse, and it was actually nice not to content with the typical "light lager" and "bland stout" found at many brewpubs. They even had a homebrew competition winner's beer in rotation.

Boscos is known for their "Flaming Stone Beer", or America's "Original Steinbier". I wasn't overly impressed myself, but it is unique.

We did not try the food as we had just eaten at Blackstone so I cannot comment on it. The food that was carried by looked pretty tasty though.

The microbrew is pretty good, and the "regulars" at the bar are entertaining. The food is reasonably priced and tastes good, too. There's just something missing at this Hillsboro Village haunt, though. Is it too processed? Did it try to be too trendy? I can't figure it out. It lacks a sense of character that the other palces in the Village seem to embrace.

I went here for dinner on a Sunday night and it was a terrible experience. It took us (2 people) 1 hour and 10 minutes for a pizza, 2 salads, and grilled chicken. We ordered a crabcake appetizer...they came out half-frozen. They were obviously pre-made and had been microwaved. The booth had tape all over it from where it was broken and the wall next to us had lint all over it. The pizza was undercooked and the cheese wasn't even melted. If you want bad service and bad food, then go to Bosco's!!!

This used to be a great dining experience as well as a great beer joint -- now hoever, the food is a bit too pretentious and overpriced to waste an hour's lunch break. Don't waste your time unless you just need a liquid lunch!

The Flaming Stone beer is the BEST beer I have ever tasted. I really don't go much anymore for dinner because of the price & menu changes. BUT if you love a good beer, go to Bosco's.

The thing that's great about this place is that it has the perfect balance...good food in a casual (but nice) atmosphere. Sunday Jazz brunch is great too. Good place for a casual date.

Every day Boscos taps a original English style cask (keg) for the cellerman of the day. Also, when at Boscos, have some of the Bottle conditioned (flavored) beers.

The same cast of regulars is always at Boscos' bar in time to watch 5:30 p.m. tick by on Mondays and Fridays as the day's cask-conditioned ale is tapped, releasing a one-of-a-kind burst of flavors into each pint glass. On the menu, there…
