Recently, I had two occasions to visit UT Medical Center. On both, my family members were transferred from other local hospitals which claim in their advertising to be full service one-stop facilities.

First, my son was in a motorcycle accident. He was initially taken to Fort Sanders, but was immediately transferred to the Trauma Center at UT. The physicians and nurses in the Trauma ICU were great. They took wonderful care of my son and kept us informed as to what was happening.

The second experience was with my father who had a pacemaker placed at Park West. Not long after, it was discovered that a lead had become infected. Park West, which bills itself as "the region's only top 100 heart hospital" did not want to deal with this complication. They transferred Dad to UT. Again, the physicians and nurses were caring, compassionate, and they were more than willing to fix someone else's problem. Interestingly we met another patient in the waiting room who had also been sent from Park West for a similar problem.

While many facilites hospitals advertise for your business in Knoxville, the bottom line is they all send the cases they can't handle to UT. From now on, that's where we'll start since we know we'll end up there anyway. Best doctors, caring nurses, I can't say enough about UT!
