After waiting for 45 mins, the next table open for the number in our party was given to people not on the list that came from the kitchen area. Nothing like getting bumped by an inside connection and then have to wait 20 more mins. Bad

Pros: Awesome Coffee :)

.

Good little local spot to grab an afternoon beer. They have your typical Irish selection (Harp, Smithwick's, and Guinness), plus a cider, assorted bottles, and a montly special (which has been far from special lately). The food is good. I don't think it has changed since the restaurant has opened.
McCreary's has become a great standby place. Nothing special, just a nice quiet place.

McCreary's is a great little place to have a beer and good food. It's small, but it gives you a chance to meet new people! Try the Salmon salad and of course the fish and chips...yumm!

McCreary's is a very special place. It is just about the heartbeat of downtown Franklin. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, the beer selection is good, and the food! The food is great. I have eaten fish and chips everywhere from Hawaii to England, and McCreary's remains my favorite. Same things with the wings and the burgers. You just can't go wrong with the food. Add a warm, family friendly restaurant, and this is one great place. On my own website, enjoyingbeer dot com, I gave the Pub 5 stars out of 5. I re-affirm that here.

For us locals, there is no better place for good beer, food, atmosphere, and friendship! The staff is wonderful and we locals love them all! It is a very friendly place for all! Other non-local drunk red-nks such as AMSMITH100 and BUDDHA100 please stay away as "you people" don't know how to act in public nor can you people handle your alcohol!!!!

McCreary's is a fixture in downtown Franklin. Their staff has always been wonderful and I have never had a bad experience there. The new owner is a gem and has been at McCreary's since its doors opened 7 years ago. Great food, great music, great staff.

Pros: Best Irish food in town.

Cons: None, really.

When the pizza place closed its doors years ago, I was bummed. I had no idea the new, Irish pub would become my family's favorite place in Franklin.

What a great place to bring my laptop and write, catch up with old friends over dinner, have a cider and beer with my wife or hang with my kids.

Franklin and Cool Springs has so many franchises. McCreary's stands out in the crowded restaurant scene. It is the place where I go to break up the weekly routine. A burger and a beer, fish and chips, the tuna sandwich, or the bangers and mash - you can't go wrong.

I don't give 5's, but McCreary's has earned a 5 over the years!

McCreary's! The word makes me smile. So many good times I've had there, it's really ridiculous. :) I could not imagine walking down Main Street without seeing the green letters, the lights, and everything that makes it what it is.

The food is good, the people are great, and the atmosphere is one of a kind. I have recommended it to people I know (if they haven't already enjoyed it) and would do so anytime. Great place to chill. Great place overall. 5 stars.

I have been a customer of McCreary's since it opened and have always been treated with respect. The only time I have seen or heard a problem was when the staff was treated rudely or someone was refused service based on their sobriety.
I strongly recommend this place but remember... A good Guinness pour takes about 5 minutes so don't get in a rush!!!!

I've been going to McCreary's for about 5 years. Whenever I think of downtown Franklin, I always think of being in the pub late on a saturday night, listening to the Irish band play and eating the best fish n chips around! And the shrimp... SO GOOD. Actually, just all of the food is incredible. McCreary's is not only a great hang out spot but an amazing restraunt with good food and good service. Everyone there is so awesome and I've become friends with some of the waiters by just being a regular. My boyfriend and I love to celebrate our Irish heritage by spending our time in McCreary's, because we love it.

My husband and I discovered McCreary's Pub four years ago after moving to Franklin, and fell in LOVE with the place. It has small town charm, great service and the best fish-n-chips in town. We have become true patrons to the pub and love going. The staff greets us warmly each time we walk through the door. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I've gone to McCreary's over 50 times and I always enjoy my visit. Last night our friendly server, Cassie, bent over backwards to accomodate a food request for my my wife and her friend. She pulled it off, the ladies loved the food and made me the hero. I'll be back soon.

My husband and I love McCreary's. It's our favorite downtown Franklin hang-out.

Bottom line? It's got a small-town atmosphere that we've come to love. It's small, it's loud, and we go there so often that the servers know what drinks to bring us before we say a word.

I always order a cider. And almost everyone who works there knows it.

It's by far one of the brightest stars in Historic Franklin. And it's not because the food is uber-gourmet (it's not) or the Irish atmosphere is uber-authentic (it's not).

It's because of the sense of family and community that exists there. That's really the heart of McCreary's.

We know almost all the servers by name. We've got "favorite tables" at which we like to sit. And we love the live Celtic music they offer on weekends, though we usually go earlier in the evening to avoid the rush, and so we miss the music.

You definitely don't want to miss the music.

We can eat there as a family for reasonable amount of money, too, because we share entrees. (We'd all do well to cut down on the ridiculously large American food portions we've come to expect as "normal".) My husband and I will often split a burger and chips, which leaves just enough room for a little dessert from Ben & Jerry's (right down the street) or Ivycake (MMM cupcakes! also right down the street).

We are part of the woodwork at McCreary's and proud to be so. May our beloved, small-town pub enjoy a long and prosperous existence!

Authentic Irish Pub look and feel. Not a big place, but that's part of its charm. The beer selection is very good - not a big variety on tap, but always good stuff. Shepherd's pie is outstanding! Definitely check it out if you're enjoying downtown Franklin!

The Irish atmosphere at place is awesome. Makes you feel like you are really in Dublin at a little pub! The traditional Irish fare is very good - our favorite is the Shepherd's Pie! The only down size is just that - the size of the place. Strollers don't fit (we typically go for lunch or dinner), so we have to leave it outside. Never had any problems with that, it's just a little bothersome.

Dear person below me,
Are you kidding? Have you ever been to a pub? Totally crazy that it was loud, and didn't have a designer themed decor. What you should have noticed was that for the prices I'm sure you regularly pay at Dan McGuinness, McCreary's pours 20 ounce pints.

After reading pleasing reviews here on Citysearch, I opted to give McCreary's a try. I was looking for some place that was as close to authentic Irish cuisine as possible, and the reviews really talked this place up. What a mistake. Portions are small, but expensive. My boyfriend & I both ordered the Shepherd's Pie at $9.25 each. They were nothing more than mashed potatoes, corn, peas, tomato sauce, and ground beef with a slice of cheese melted over the top. It tasted like mediocre beef stew covered in cheese, honestly, and it came out in a tiny bowl (not the amount of food I was expecting for ten bucks). It was also served with their "homemade Irish soda bread" that was dry and disgusting, and a small side salad that was flavorless and bland. The "sweet tea" I ordered was sugarless, even upon refill. This "meal" left us wanting more, but with the high prices at McCreary's for such a small amount of food, we opted to go elsewhere instead.

And as for the atmosphere that is so highly spoken of.....HA. It's poorly decorated with cheap-looking Ireland-themed items, very tiny, and EXTREMELY loud. The pub was only about half-full, and my boyfriend & I couldn't even hear each other from across our table because the other people were so loud and obnoxious. I have been to some nice pubs with a much more fun, quaint atmosphere, but this place surely wasn't one of them. The one plus about McCreary's: The waiter was extremely friendly, and was willing to answer whatever questions we had about the menu (if only we'd asked what size the Shepherd's Pie was before ordering it!), and he made sure we never had an empty glass. Such a good waiter, he should consider waiting tables at a place more suitable to his skill. Despite the great service, this was a first and a last visit for me to McCreary's.

My boyfriend and I were just in Franklin for the morning to stop at a quilt shop before heading to Nashville for the day. When we asked for a lunch recommendation from the owner, she pointed us to McCreary's Pub. The atmosphere was very low key and relaxed, the service was good, and the food was excellent. My boyfriend, who spent some time in Ireland a few years ago said that the food is actually pretty close to the real thing, very authentic. I highly recommend stopping here if you are in the mood for something hot and filling.

McCreary's is a fairly small place, so you might want to get there a little before or a little after traditional meal time. By the time we left, there wasn't a seat left...this is clearly a local favorite in Franklin.

Great food. Laidback service. 2 for 1 specials from 3-6 daily. It's definitely my favorite spot in downtown Franklin. This isn't the place to come if you expect fine dining and a quiet atmosphere. Live Irish music on Friday and Saturday nights. I love my pint of Woodchuck!

McCreary's is fantastic. The fish and chips are better than just about any in the world...I had one plate in Hawaii that was better, but I had three other plates in Hawaii that McCreary's beat, hands down. The burgers are great, the corned beef is great, everything is delicious. In addition to the food, the delicious beer always flows. And contrary to another review, McCreary's (currently) serves beer out front. They always have, but the State has been finicky on allowing it. It may not be "romantic", but it is good for romance. I even got engaged at this place I love it so much!

This is a great little pub off the Franklin square. It is very small but the food is great. The prices are average for this area and is worth the money. They have a great shepherd's pie and their fries are homemade and wonderful. They have a great assortment of beer, and the inside of the place resembles an Irish pub. If you are in Franklin, it is a great place to eat.

Not just because of the location in beautiful downtown old historic Franklin, but because of the incredible people that work there the pub and eatery is such a delightful experience that you will find your taste buds wanting more and your heart saying lets do it. This is a must eat resteraunt. Try the Fish & Chips or the incredible guiness stew. I always get a blackvelvet (half guiness and half woodchuck cider. You have my thoughts now go and you will have your own wonderful experience.

Pros: Great food, Irish music, atmosphere

Cons: can't drink outside, packed a lot, can't take it home

I've tried McCreary's several times hoping that I just had a bad experience the last time. Everytime i've eaten there, the food has been wonderful, but the service is horrible. I felt like we were being waited on by the owners son who didn't really want to be there. He didn't seem to care that we were out of drinks, had no silverware and our order was incorrect. This happened on more than one visit. It's a shame because it has great potential but a penny was all I was willing to tip.

Pros: Great Food, Wonderful Atomosphere, Great Location

Cons: , Small Space

.

Not much of a traditional pub atmosphere.... room with bar at the end, several tables in front of bar.

However, while the food is above average (Fish and Chips being the staple), could use more selections. Good pint of Boddingtons!
