The restaurant here offered decent food, but that was about the best they had to offer. The prices to visit the outside museum was extremely high, the food was a bit high too. You could not even drive by and look at the house you had to pay to get in to see it. I would not recommend taking the time to visit this historic site.

A must see. It is a step back in time and a fun learning experience. Somehow it appeals to both children and adults. The guides are knowledgeable, interesting and charming. The gardens are very special and you can picture Andrew Jackson sitting there in the evening mourning the loss of her precious wife, Rachel.

Andrew Jackson's home was so well preserved. He has much land and many unique buildings and gardens to explore. There is also a set of trails that you can take to get an even better feel of how much land was owned by this former president. Owning the largest number of slaves in history, the Hermitage now pays tribute to the loyalty and hard work as well as the family heritage of the people. The house itself is quite large and has beautiful wall paper that Mrs. Jackson chose herself. Good place to take the kids if they are studying this time period in history. There are many recordings that tell the story of how things looked in their present day as well which brings much of the area to life. Good souveneir shop as well.

The hermitage is a very educational place to take your family. I enjoyed the wonderful garden and the beautiful house. I was surprised to see how they have kept time standing still. Everything looks as though it did back then. Pricing was great on this! I was so excited to see the gardens! You will truely enjoy this home! They tour was about an hour long give or taken a few minutes.

The Hermitage is the former home of President Andrew Jackson. The home was completed in 1836 and is well kept today. You get to take a guided tour through the mansion. You also see the slave cabins, the church the Jacksons attended, Tulip Grove mansion, the burial site of President Jackson and his wife Rachel. You also get to see Rachel's garden, which is beautiful. This is educational and interesting all at the same time. If you love history or have never been I recommend you visit here when in town.

PROS: reasonably priced, educational, interesting
CONS: none

My husband and I visited the Hermitage over Memorial Day weekend. It was just like taking a step back in time! There is a tour of the house and then you can walk the gardens and outbuildings on your own. We had a very enjoyable time and recommend it to everyone with an interest in history.
