This place isn't much on atmosphere, but the food is fantastic! It has become one of my 'haunts'. :)\r
\r
The staff is always happy to see you and the place is as clean as a pin. And you can't beat the prices!\r

Looks can be deceiving. I have driven by this place on various occassions and never thought to stop in based on its location. But I'm glad I did. I have been there over 10 times now and it's been great every time.

Their lunch is fantastic (as is their dinner). It is quick whether you are dining in or ordering take-out. The food is just as good if not better than other Thai restaurants (and I've tried many). The people are always friendly and extremely nice. You would expect small portions for its price, but that is not the case. I have a hearty appetite and it has always managed to fill me up. Thai Kitchen has exceeded my expectations on all fronts.

I would also recommend trying the Thai iced tea or Thai iced coffee. Next time you're in the area, check it out and you won't regret it.

My favorite place while I spent 4 years in Nashville. I don't eat western food so I cook. After I know this place, I stop cooking because I can get the taste of Thai food while spend the same amount of money.

The owner (also the chef) is very nice.

The food here is always great! I especially recommend the garlic chicken! Lunch is the best time to go because the food is freshest and you can't beat the prices! around $5 for a full meal that also doubles as dinner because it's so much. The soup is really good, too. And the curry is excellent!

It especially made me happy when they switched from serving to-go orders in styrofoam containers :)

Great place. Its been here forever. I've been eating here since 1999. The name has changed from rice bowl to Thai Kitchen, but the same people still own it. They are very nice. Always so freindly to me. They always smile and sometimes throw in free extra stuff.
The curries are wonderful. Very fragrant and flavorful. Also great primeminister chicken, garlic chicken, general Tso chicken. Great hot and sour soup! Its one of my favorites.
The lunch specials have always been the cheapest I could find in that area. You get a huge portion of very tasty food an egg roll, and a soup for a very low price.

And they're just really good people.

Love this place!

I have been coming to this place for a year now...at least 1-2 a WEEK! I love it! And I'm pretty sure they know me now...even though they try to speak Thai to me...but i don't know any. Anyway, everything is reasonably prices with good portions! There's been a handful in the last year that the food was maybe watered down...but we can't always be perfect. If you want authentic...this is the place. I say don't order at night because it seems like you get the stuff that was made for the whole day...so be aware. Lunch time is always the best time to get something!

Having spent several weeks in Thailand, I know that Thai Kitchen is one of the most authentic places in Nashville. The food makes me feel like I'm back in Thailand! They routinely make things mild to suit western tastes, but if you want something spicy tell them "ow ped ped"... or add some of the chilis in fish sauce or other condiments available in the fridge. Fantastic service and great food. And like other reviewers have said, it's a thai restaurant... so skip the chinese food and try something thai! Some things to try are the green curry w/ veggies, noodle soup, or the "big bowl" of Tom Yum.,

I have eaten at this place off and on for years. Even though I haven't lived in Nashville for more than 20 years now, I make it a point to stop by the Thai Kitchen whenever I'm in town. If you like Thai food, this is the place to get real Thai without the unneeded decorating frills. You'll just find good food, freshly cooked, and simply presented. I'm going there tonight!

This little "hole in the wall" exceeded my expectations.

The Pad Thai had good flavor and a decent portion size for a little over 5 dollars.

The Spring Rolls however were straight out of the freezer and were 90% cabbage.

I will definitely eat here again and look forward to trying other dishes.

Recommended to me by a native of Thailand, my first experience with Thai Kitchen made me feel like I was "in the know" on an insider's secret. Three and a half years later, I see the restaurant as the American dream. The family that owns Thai Kitchen works hard and are so proud of their restaurant. Over the years they have accumulated new menus, tables, and decor, yet it is still the same hole-in-the-wall that I loved when I first started going.

The first thing you should know about Thai Kitchen is the most obvious thing about it - it is a Thai restaurant! Don't be "that guy" and order the General Tso's chicken or some other chinese dish... if you want that you can get it in any chinese food place in Nashville. Scrape the surface and thats where you'll find the real gem behind Thai Kitchen. The chicken pad thai ($5), the basil chicken w/ egg (aka Cra Pao Gai Sub - $6), and the multitudes of other Thai dishes they serve - those are the real reasons to eat at Thai Kitchen.

So please, I encourage everyone to broaden their horizons and try something different at Thai Kitchen. I recommend the two dishes afore mentioned, but it is my hope that others who review will share their favorite dishes as well. This is a wonderful restaurant and a true gem of Nashville.

Pros: Amazing thai food, great prices, family run, the two new-ish chefs are realllly good, the sugar, peanuts, dried chili peppers, and jalapenos you can take to your table.

Cons: The menu doesnt do the restaurant justice. They depend too much on people ordering the staple chinese food on the menu hung behind the counter, but they should really expound on the paper menu at the register.

I have eatten at Thai Kitchen several times and have loved every experience. The food is consistently good - I always know exactly what I am going to get. It's staffed by two Thai women who are super-friendly and helpful. Their lunch special of $4.75 (entree + egg roll) can't be beat! I usually have left overs to take home because the portions are ample. I highly recommend Thai Kitchen for a great deal, excellent food quality and the down home feel.

Being a native of Thailand, I can assure you that this is DEFINITELY the best Thai food in Nashville! Plenty of variety and offers many dishes other Thai restaurants here simply do not have (i.e. fried eggs with sweet garlic and cilantro sauce, duck curry). And all for an excellent deal --- lunch specials Monday-Friday are only $4.75 and include your choice of entree and an eggroll! Plus, it is family run and the atmosphere is simple and homey so it's really wonderful when you're not in the mood to feel pressured to dress up and go to a pretentious place. Don't go expecting anything fancy in terms of restaurant decor, but visit this place when you want authentic Thai cuisine at an incredibly cheap price and...large portions! I always have leftovers. HIGHLY recommended!! I take my friends here all the time.
