An authentic New York style delicatessen, Noshville New York Delicatessen's goal is simple: to prepare and serve the highest quality delicatessen food in a friendly, comfortable atmosphere. In creating Noshville, a group of local investors traveled from coast to coast with a mission: to collect the components of the finest delicatessens anywhere, and unite them in a total experience you'll not soon forget. The house rules are simple: check your cares at the door, order with reckless abandon, and indulge your senses in the life that is Noshville.
Awesome food with huge portions and lots of choices!

With my many visits to noshville i have never had a bad experience with the food, it has always been good.
Pros: i am pleased with all the food
Cons: traffic in nashville

Good food with so-so service
by leubaby
I've been to the Midtown location probably 15 times, and the Green Hills location four times. The food is always good, but if you're on even a somewhat tight schedule, forget it - just go to McDonalds. When a husband and wife order their breakfast at the same time, what is so difficult about serving their food within 15 minutes of each other?
Today at the Green Hills location, the waiter came up and asked us 'how our food was tasting'. My wife was finished with hers, and mine hadn't arrived. Can't taste anything on my side of the table yet, DUDE! Are you awake yet?
Then there was the time at the midtown location when I had to ask for capers for my Nova plate (paid extra for them) four times. I finally offered to go get them myself if he would just show me where they were in the kitchen. He wasn't even busy - had his butt parked inside the waiter area sharing giggles with his co-workers - right in plain sight of us.
Good food - if you can get it. Service is a D minus. Cooking is an A minus. Waiters and waitresses are polite, just non-observant and lazy from my experience. Hate to lump all the servers into one category of slackness, but that's what I've seen. The place stays very busy regardless, so the bad service probably won't change because of my review. Be prepared when you go.
Pros: Very good breakfast spot for the food if you have time
Cons: Have never had a decent waiter/waitress there

I work for noshville
by KElCiE2010
I've worked for Noshville almost a year now. The plasce is great its a very friendly enviroment. It always makes are employees happy to see that are customers are satisfied. Are food is terrific. Everything is off the grill unless you order off the cold side of the menu. Noshville is somewhere i'd recommend for you to try at least once. Most of are customers have been coming there since we first opened which if im not mistaking has been about 12 to 13 years ago and some of are employees have been there that long. Noshville yes is an expensive place to eat but it is great food and great service. What some of these people don't understand is when you come in anywhere from 10-1 we are goin to be on at least 20 min wait most of the time longer but we try and be sure to make every thing as fast as possible and to make you comfortable and enjoy your experiance at noshville. We love to see all of are customers with a smile on they're face when they are walking out are door. I do apoligize for any inconvience with all of are customers. We enjoy seeing each and everyone of you everyday and your comments can always help us improve your experiance at noshville.
Thanks.

"The Music" has got to GO.
by JEBERGE0927
The food is great and so are the employees, but the "Big Band" music has go to go. I understand that this is a "New York Style" dell, but PLEASE vary the music. Maybe some jazz. Or let's support our Nashville Musicians.

GREASY NASTY STALE FOOD BAD SERVICE TOO
by gwynmorrison
Really one of the worst places my husband and I have ever eaten. If you like butter grease, no taste, stale bread and flavor, bad service, go here. I would not recommend it to anyone unless you want to have a hear attack and many look like they are ready. Not for us!
Pros: NONE
Cons: GREASY LADDEN FOODS ALREADY UNFRESH AND TOTALLY UNHEALTHY

Alot of food, excellent service, hostess with an attitude & lack of kosher fair
by Keith1978
Ok, Noshville is across from where my sister worked for years, but I never had the chance to eat there. Today, while going into town, I thought I would give it a try. A good friend who keeps kosher is coming to Nashville for Thanksgiving and I thought I would try the place out so I would have a kosher place to bring him, when he visits. So, I parked at the market next door and went in. The hostess was an older lady, who seemed inattentive, unpleasant and not to interested in giving a cheery welcome. While I don't expect a cheesy, fake welcome, but at least seem happy that you have customers, is my thought. But quickly I was seated and served promptly. They didn't have sweet tea, which greatly perturbed me given that it is a VERY common beverage in the South, even though they had bar and two types of lemonade. The server, unlike the hostess, was pleasant, attentive and earned his tip. The food was good, but unlike what I had thought before coming there, it was NOT kosher. I am not Jewish so if I get a bacon grilled cheese is one thing, but bringing someone who keeps kosher here would not be recommended, especially given that the place is advertised as a kosher place. The food portion is so large that sharing is necessary to avoid wasting. Charging $3.00 for sharing is damn*ed near criminal, given that some people can't eat such large portions, diabetics for instance. In the end, it was a pleasant experience despite what I felt they lacked. Sweet tea, a pleasant hostess and kosher fair.
Pros: Come hungry, excellent service, variety
Cons: No sweet tea, needs pleasant hostess, no kosher fair

Bad service most of the time and mediorce food and too much $$$
by harrison cotham
Went a couple of times when first opened, good service and food. Since then been back a few times lately very bad service, except at counter, and once when I complained was given an excuse instead of an apology and to boot, a little lip. This place is always crowded and I don't know why unless Nashville is fooled by supposedly good NYC deli fare. Cheese blintzes small and seved with cold bland applesauce. Pep it up folks or bring the prices way down!

Promotes obesity
by ihearttheville
I just went to Noshville for lunch. Knowing their portions are HUGE (enough food to feed a small family) my friend and I split the meal. When I got the check they added a $3 plate charge. When I questioned the waiter he said it was to discourage people from splitting since they give such large portions. So I ended up paying $15 for a club sandwich. That's ridiculous! I guess they want America to remain the fattest country in the world.

Best Rueben in Nashville by far!

We usually get the Rueben here and it's one of the BEST we've ever tasted! The Tennessee Club is very good as well.Best place to get a quick sandwhich in West End!

Worst. Place. Ever
by kristin08
I have been to Noshville 2 times. The latter time prompted me to write this review. Overall the food was mediocre, but the service was pretty bad. There are some suspiciously biased opinions about this place. It seems as if someone is writing about their own place of employment, rather than having a true experience at this establishment. This is really not what this forum should be used for. You aren't fooling anyone.
Noshville is a ripoff. End.of.subject.
Pros: cookies
Cons: Service could use a lot of improvement

Best. Place. EVER.
by MellowNinja
Yeah, they were out of pickles, but I HATE pickles! Just the smell of them makes me spew my insides profusely!
The food was amazing, and I loved the server's dry witty banter.
Seriously, I would have totally four starred this bit** if they had pickles.

Pickled Out
by formerchef
My husband and I had lunch the other day at Noshville on Broadway. We were seated promptly and our drink order was soon taken. I ordered a sandwich as did my husband. When the food arrived our server asked us if we needed anything else? I asked for a side of pickles. He told me they were OUT. SHOCKED (I mean this is supposed to be a Jewish Deli!) I asked him if he was serious? He said "No, I just like making things up." Very rude. The sandwiches were fair and overpriced if you ask me. The french fries were way undercooked. We paid our bill and as we were leaving my husband noticed a sign that stated that sometimes Noshville would be out of customers favorite items, because they were not up to the restaurants standards. Try to cook your french fries so they are not translucent and try and train your servers, and then talk to me about standards. Next time, I think I will go to say, PF Changs for lunch (hopefully they won't be out of rice) or maybe a nice mexican restaurant (hopefully they won't be out of corn tortillas) you get the picture. Definately save your money and do not go!!
Pros: The drinks were okay. Nobody offered to get me another
Cons: Rude server

Bad Service, Mediocre Food
by leopoldbloom
The Midtown location is convenient for lunch for downtown workers. However, it always seems to take 1 1/2 - 2 hours to complete a lunch here. And this for sandwiches?! Service is always bad. And the food is unfortunately just not particularly good. I love pickles but the pickles they put on the table? They're just....flaccid. A pickle should crunch or snap when you bite into it. I hate to say all this..because the IDEA of a New York style, kosher deli in this area is so pleasing to me. But this just ain't it.

Gotta love this place..
Fried bologna sandwich is great.. Folks are friendly.
Same at their Green Hills location.
I like the free pickles but sometimes you have to ask for them
Also, black and white cookies..
Pros: excellent sandwiches
Cons: sometimes wait is long

Leary to try this place d/t previous reviews but pleasently surprised!!
by malisu252
Love this place!! Went on saturday morning and had no wait. The waiter has obviously worked there forever because he took our order by memory which is always scary but he got all of our orders perfect even though we were very picky! Food came out so so fast! Food is great and menu is huge. I always love a place that serve lox and it was great! Will definitley go back many times!
Pros: quality breakfast and menu has a good variety
Cons: parking

Great hot dogs, disappointing bloody marys, poor parking.

One of the best hot dogs, huge portions, stay away from the salads. We read that Noshville had one of the best bloody marys in Nashville. However, we were quite disappointed. Parking was a nightmare.

Hearty servings, bit pricey for diner food
by jaw881
This place really styled like a NY deli. The portions are huge BUT the prices reflect it. I was also annoyed by the $3 plate sharing charge. The staff were attentive. Nice and clean. Busy on Sunday at breakfast/brunch. Omelettes are great!
Pros: Pickle well (all you can eat pickles), NY style
Cons: Bit pricey for sandwiches, plate-sharing fee of $3

Worst Diner
by foodmonster786
The service is decent but the food is worse the average.
Table was dirty, including the seat.
I order a cranberry juice that was given to me basically in a shot glass, the food took a good twenty minutes to come out, and when it did it was far from decent.
Fries were absolutely horrid, not well cooked, and one of them were still frozen.
I ordered the Chicago Style hot dog, which looked boiled to me when the menu clearly stated it was FRESH off the grill. It had this disgustingly green relish on top of the hot dog that just made you want to not touch the food. And the taste of the food was as bad as it looked.
My cousin ordered a Chicken Parmesan which was a lot worse than the hot dog I ended up with. His Sand which in any god forsaken country could not be classified as chicken. When he took a bite into it the chicken was so hard that he almost broke his jaw. And the parts that he could bite into hand strands of atrocious yellow layering. It was as if he was eating chicken jerky.
When we told our waiter he simply disregarded our comment.
All in all do not go to Noshville, you are much better off going to an IHOP or Waffle House.
Pros: Decent Service
Cons: Bad Food

Always disappointing
by brsm72
Here's why I do not recommend this place...
The following items were observerved on three seperate visits:
-Table was dirty.
-Condiment bottles - usually the ketchup - dirty.
-Waitress/waiter unprofessional - committed health code violation each visit by taking our glasses back to the fountain and refilling them, straws touching the machine - you should always serve new glasses and new straws!
-The sandwiches take 20min. (it was not busy)
- French Dip & Rueben not warm on each visit.
- Fries always stale.
-The ceaser salad had white & yellow romaine and was drenched in warm dressing.
-Todays visit: When paying check of $21.31, I put a twenty and a ten on the table. When she arrived to pick it up, she asked "do you need change?" (a sin in the food service business), as if a 38% tip was normal in that place. To top it off, she brought only $8 back to the table, keeping the .68. There was no "thanks", or even "see ya". We have had this waitress twice and never learned her name.
-Todays visit: Hostess was clueless. Asked for a comment card and was given a business card. Asked to talk to a manager and was told "which one? Theres like five of them".
-Never once saw a manager on the floor.
I used to live in New York City. This place would never cut it there. That is a fact.
I am not going back to the Midtown location of Noshville. Ever.
Pros: Location, setting
Cons: service, food quality, price

great food and amazing service, but not like a NY deli
by bad_driver
I have been to Noshville several times and have always been very happy with the food. Everything I have tried on the menu has been exceptionally tasty and the portions are always quite large. On one occasion I took my parents with me and was surprised to see that they even enjoyed the food although they are terribly adventurous when it comes to dining and I feared they might be a bit put off by something like Noshville's excellent matzo ball soup, I guess the taste won them over!
One thing though, don't expect a true New York deli experience, the service is much better. During the visit to Noshville I made with my parents we were waited on by a server named Ranger, strange name, but he went out of his way to make us all feel comfortable and to make sure our food was brought to us promptly. I knew the food would be great but Ranger made the entire experience even better. Ask for him when you go in!
Pros: great food, great service
Cons: there can be a bit of a wait for seating durring breakfast on the weekends

I EAT MANY MANY VEGE SANDWICHES AND THESE WERE TERRIBLE!!!!!!
by patgwyn
MY HUSBAND AND I WERE RIDING AROUND ON A SAT JULY 21 2007 AND FOUND THIS DELI AND DECIDED TO TRY IT. I ORDERED A HOGIE VEGE SANDWICH WHICH SOUNDED FINE AND MY HUSBAND GOT A HOTDOG. THE BREAD ON BOTH WAS HEAVY ,OLD AND STALE, NO SEASONING ON THE VEGE, THE TINY PIECE OF TOMATO ON BOTH SANDWICHES WAS VERY OLD AND TASTED BAD!!, I HAD TWO TINY PIECES OF RED PEPPER ON EACH SIDE OF THE SMALL SANDWICH AND VERY VERY SORRY WE WENT THERE. THE WAITRESS DID NOT CARE IF WE ATE IT OR NOT!!!! FRENCH FRIES WERE NOT COOKED IN THE BEST OIL EITHER AND PRICES ARE AROUND 8.99 FOR THESE WORST THAN WE'VE EVER HAD SANDWICHES. I WILL NEVER GO BACK OR RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE.
Cons: STALE BREAD AND IF YOU LIKE BAD FRIES BUT A LOT OF THEM GO THERE.

Wonderful place for downtown lunch!
by thomaswilliams34
I frequently dine at Noshville, and I'll tell you why: The staff is wonderful, the food is wonderful, and they are prompt with their service. I highly recommend the almost all of the items on the menu, but I wouldn't risk eating the complimentary pickles that are on the table. It seems like they are not changed from diner to diner. Great for families with kids as well!
Pros: Very nice place to dine all around!
Cons: Community pickle jar should be avoided

Always a Great Meal!
by pjs2780
My family and I ate at Noshville multiple times during my four years in Nashville and always had a delicious meal (my mom always wanted to go when she visited -- and I grew up on the east coast, with a lot of authentic Jewish delis around). The potato pancakes are delicious, the matzo ball soup true comfort food, the sandwiches HUGE and just as delicious the next day (I always had leftovers). We always had great service too -- to the point that when our carryout order of potato pancakes was missing one, they offered me a free order the next time I came in, and still had the info at the register one month later.

From NY ...not anything like a NY Deli

This place isn't bad but know that is nothing like a NY deli or diner. Way higher cost and "fancy" compared to real ones. Sell similar menu items but like places claiming to have NY pizza or NY bagels...its just not the same!

Unexpectedly Poor Food and Service
by creativespark
I was recently excited to visit Noshville, being a new transplant to Nashville, and looking forward to eating at an "authentic New York Delicatessen". I have to say I was GREATLY disappointed. I ordered the Rueben. There were a couple of VERY thin slices of a meat that looked very much like the pressed meat products sold in packets at the grocery store. It was detinitely NOT pastrami as I have known it all my life and did not remotely resemble the stacked-high sandwich used in their advertising. In fact, after telling my husband how awful the sandwich was we went to Kroger and purchased some Boar's Head pastrami, It had the delicious flavor and texture, which was missing from Noshville's sandwich. It certainly would have expected an authentic deli to have a superior product to Kroger! Added to that, the service was very poor, with our waitress sitting down between food deliveries at what was obviously her boyfriend's table and avoiding eye contact with the customers. We had to hunt someone down to ask our waitress for our check and were late coming back from lunch because of the slow, spotty service. I was very disappointed in my experience at Noshville, especially after all the hype. Perhaps someone actually needs to GO to a New York style deli and see how it's done? I've eaten at most of the deli in New York over the years and this was nothing like it! As an added note, when I tried to send my comments to Noshville on the "comment" section of the website, it was bounced back as undeliverable.

by willias6
If you are taking out family, a date, friends, a professor, a co-worker, ANYONE, and you aren't sure what place will offer a good spread of food that is tasty all the way around, then Noshville IS your place. With all day breakfast options, huge and healthy salads, meat and three platters, and not to mention a great dessert menu, you will certainly NOT be dissapointed. If you get there on a Sat. or Sun. brunch time, make sure you are not starving, because there will be a line, but it moves quick and the food comes quick too. My favorite is their cheesecake!

Cool NY style deli, great food!
by citygirl222
My husband and I love this place! Everything we've had has been great. What's even better, is they have some of the BEST coffee in town so be sure to save room for a cup afterwards.
The service is slow, so come about an hour before you are really hungry. That way you have an enjoyable time from start to finish. Try the deli style hot dogs too. The Reuben is fabulous. The pies are just awesome!!!!Even better with that great coffee!!!
Pros: Great food, great coffee, fun place
Cons: Service is kind of slow, but food worth the wait

Reuben is the showpiece
by dsavill1
We shared a Reuben and a pastrami on rye. Pastrami was OK, plump, but lacked the drier peppery flavor of a NYC Deli. However, the corned beef on the Reuben was excellent. French fries have a nice crispy exterior. Once seated, service was prompt and friendly.
Pros: wide range of deli choices
Cons: $10 for a medium size sandwich and a scoop of cole slaw is pricey

Have you been to Ruebens on Madison Ave?
by jcddids
I've been to Rubens on Madison Avenue. Noshville for Nashville is exceptional! Had the Lox platter and very good with seseme bagel. Sour pickels are to die for. Rueben and fries...go for it. If you lived in or around NYC anytime Noshville will take you back to the deli food. Sorry no room for desert. Tasted quality in the Lox and corned beef...good and hot fries. I think its neat that they don't serve sweet tea. Service was fast and freindly.
Pros: easy parking, prompt service, very good deli food
Cons: None

Service? What Service
by ssm9
My wife and I went to the Noshville on Broadway at about 6:30PM on a Friday night. As the restaurant was not crowded we were promptly seated. We each ordered a sandwich and I ordered a basket of french fries. It took 25 minutes for the sandwiches to appear and since a different server brought the sandwiches from the waitress who had taken our order we reminded him that we had an order of french fries coming. I was on my last bite of the sandwich when the fries finally arrived. We asked to speak to the manager about the slow service. He never came. On the way out we saw the manager and told him of the poor service - he said 20 minutes is their typical wait time and was sorry about the fries... and then he just walked away from us. We will not return!

If you have a hangover on Sunday afternoon this is the place to be! Excellent tall screw drivers! The chef salad is awesome and the grilled tuna salad sandwich with well done fries runs a close second. I like to go late afternoon when the breakfast crowd has died down. Louise is the best server ever and it is worth it to ask to be seated in her section.
Pros: great screw drivers, Louise!
Cons: too busy at times

by smoothybobo
I love the food, the lox & scrambled eggs, potato pancakes, potato knishes, the Rachael (pastrami on rye,) THE LEMON MERANGUE PIE! I love the New Yorkness of it BUT, there's nothing I hate worse than hearing a yankee make side remarks about southerners. I've heard that several times in there. I overlook it because I love the food and I think the service is impecable. Sadly enough it's the managers/owners I've overheard laughing about the hillbillys. Thankfully, I was raised (in the south) to overlook such crass things.
Pros: delicious food, impecable service, new york feel
Cons: Closed on Mondays?

Shoney's is a better deal
by truthdweller
After waiting 45 minutes & watching other groups our size be seated because their party was "complete" while two of ours were a bit late, we got stuck in a back room separated from the rest of the restaurant; the waiter talked 90 miles a minute; the food arrived very quickly though; the 2nd pot of coffee was burnt; and why should a patron ever have to ask for refills on beverages in any restaurant? Guess Little Miss Too-Good-For-This at the maitre d' counter was more interested in her outfit -- enough to try and ignore me when I told her our group was ready to be seated, and gave me a dismissive "OK". Crap restaurant, pseudo-50s interior makes it more Nauseaville than Noshville.
Pros: Decent food, Fast food arrival, Clean
Cons: Too interested, in turning tables, Attitude

$10.00 dollar sandwich is OVERRATED
by drinking1
So my girlfriend and I are on our way to the park. Since Bread and Company closes at 4:00 on Saturdays we decided to get Noshville to go. Don't do it. The sandwich was terrible. The meat was dry and I would really hate to see what the "We Dare You" looks like. The waitress tells us "It's pretty big depending on how hungry you are." We ended up going to Wendy's for our fries and a side salad. Thank god or else we would've been starving. I will have to say that the Gnats at the park enjoyed the food however. : ) Don't go to Noshville. WAY OVERRATED

Great Restaurant/Best Deli
by jthords
In my opinion the best deli in Nashville. This is coming from a background of being brought up in New York and Philadelphia and vacationing in Miami (NY South) every year when I was a child.
You can go wrong with the Matzo ball soup or corned beef and/or Pastrami sandwich. These sandwiches are much larger with more meat than any sub from a chain. The quality of the food is mush better as well. I also enjoy their smoked fish platters and begals.
There is something for everybody here even the traditional Tennessee Club or popular ruben. Even full entrys for those who do not want a sandwich.
The service is good and friendly and the restaurant is nicely decorated with memorabilia from the 40's to 60's. Its also a great place to take kids.
Pros: food, selection, service

Great food, Average service

Food is always excellent, nice atmosphere, but service can be quite slow at rush times. Sandwiches are piled high, but many breakfast items [blintzes, potato pancakes] while excellent come in such tiny portions they leave you wanting more.
Pros: great food

Nauseous in Noshville
by breenk
I'm always looking for a good ole deli experience - this wasn't one of them. Who wants to pay $9.99 for pastrami on rye and a side of slaw? You could get a pound for less than that. I recommend that if you must visit this overrated restaurant, you skip dinner and head for the chocolate. The desserts were the most reasonable choice on the menu and tasted pretty good, too; however the atmosphere is cold and unwelcoming and the service didn't come with a smile. Did I mention you'd pay 10 bucks for a sandwich (I think substituting fries is extra).
Pros: wide variety of meat
Cons: PRICE, small portions, cold and loud

At last...a decent pickled tomato
by onietn
We were looking for some good comfort food reminiscent of the delis we went to on the west coast. Noshville provided a wonderful breakfast of white fish, bagels and fixin's. The scrambled eggs with lox were wonderful, but the highlight for my husband was the bin of pickled tomato.
The sandwiches and pancakes we saw passing by our table to others looked great too. We are looking forward to going back and trying more. The prices are big, but the servings were too.
