I have been using RT Clapp in Knoxville for year's they have alway's been courteous and honest. I have experienced nothing more than great quality from them. I know that when I take my vehicle to them they will take care of the problem and fix it with accuracy. \r\n\r\nThey also make recommendation's for the vehicle's maintenance but there is no ""pressure"" selling. If it is something that is unsafe for you they will inform you of that, and will not fix it until YOU have approved the repair. The customer is important to them.

They are attentive and nice but it seems like they cater to people who know nothing about cars. They tried to charge me $35 to diagnose a problem that I could point to with my hand in order to, ""make sure they get everything"". If you have the money and know nothing about cars, this place is good. If you know the exact problem (e.g., know cars), I would recommend another place.

I've used RT Clapp Repair Center for 5 years, now for repairs that I can't do on my own for lack of space or speciality tools. I've had 3 vehicles that I've taken to them for repairs and have been very happy with their service. I first used them in 2003 to replace a water pump on my 95 Chevy Conversion van. Repair @ Chevy Garage was going to be $500 plus dollars, before tax. RT Clapp did repair for around $300 w/tax, out the door! The fellows there, Jeff, Bill & Dennis, who do service write-ups and discuss repair issues, are patient and kind, always calling some one 'Mr.' or 'Mrs.' when first meeting, then over the years they've become more familiar with me and use my first name. Dennis is the exception: I'm still 'Mr.' to him. No issues. They also provide transportation in the form of a shuttle from their shop to downtown, or to most locations within our city limits. No additional charge! Go figure. I know a bit about mechanical issues and what to expect for parts involved. All times, I've been pleased with their pricing and their work. Most of my jobs have been within $300 mark, but I've had to combine a couple for $700+. They've understood my 'pain.' I've never felt pressured to have them do repairs. They've always provided me with explanations of why a part was needed, what the items involved in a repair would be, and how it will benefit me in the long-run. I recommend them to all my friends who ask me, "Know a good mechanic?" My reply is, "Let me tell you about RT Clapp."
