Stopped by last night for a quick bite.....what a waste! After 30 minutes the waiter shows up with our food only to have forgotten some things. Apologizes for the long wait....large parties put things behind. I don't care!!!\r

Long wait for food, Hard to get a refill on watered down ice tea. Would not go back. Not worth the trouble.

Cons: Bad service and unfriendly staff!

Hands down, the best restaurant breakfast in Memphis. Amazing french toast and pancakes. The servers are usually very nice. Very crowded on the weekends - expect at least a 30-minute wait. But totally worth it!

The service was terrible. The waiter was rude, brought drinks to the table walked away, and did not return for 15 minutes, at which point he only returned because I had gone to the front to ask for the manager, who was not helpful in the least. Needless to say, a good tip was not left.

Pros: Cheap, Waffles

Cons: Awful service

.

Nothing exeptional about this restaurant. It is your usual diner fare of pancakes and biscuits. The pancakes were just ok and my breakfast of eggs benedict was actually served on stale and cold engish muffins. The biscuits were the only good thing on the table.
I woudn't go back, I wouldn't recommend it either.

Everyone keeps mentioning breakfast (which is great!). But the daily lunch specials are fantastic! The service is very good with experienced waitstaff and prompt service. Great chicken 'n dumplings! The parking lot is small, however. This was the first home of Kemmons Wilson, founder of Holiday Inns, which accounts for the odd layout of the restaurant. It's fun to figure out if you're eating in what used to be the living room, dining room, a bedroom or whatnot :)

Blue Plate Cafe is a really good family destination, but be advised, it's very busy during Sunday brunch (once church lets out).

The menu offers good Southern home-style dishes breakfast through dinner, and breakfast is served all day.

But they also offer a cool option on the menu: meat and three sides. The sides are classic, ranging from mac and cheese to black-eyed peas.

Overall nice destination, good food, fair price.

Blue Plate Cafe on Poplar Avenue is a pretty good place to get some down home cooking. The prices are reasonable and the service is all right. The restaurant is not that clean and the outside leaves something to be desired.

Good, hearty breakfast. The wait staff is usually very friendly. The restaurant is a little small, so be prepared for a wait--especially on weekends. Great biscuits and gravy. Good country ham too.

Pros: Just good food

Cons: Long lines

Great staff, very friendly and will remember you as you back each time. The food is good. Standard breakfast fare done well. I have a strong suspicion that the prices go up nearly every time I go there (5 or so times a year) but I can't prove it. If you like breakfast check out Brother Junipers or Bryant's as well.

This is a terrific breakfast place. If you're in Memphis, you must stop by here and enjoy the ambience. The food was good, the service better and right neighborly.
