Owner Katshiko "Vic" Watanbe proudly opened Kobe Steaks in a small Atlanta 17th Street location, introducing many Atlantans to hibachi-style cooking. In 1977 an opportunity to open a larger location in Nashville, Tenn. arose and, keen to expand, Vic successfully moved Kobe Steaks to Nashville. To ensure an overall Japanese dining experience, the restaurant's decor was carefully designed by one of Japan's leading architects. At Kobe Steaks you'll experience creative hibachi cooking in a fun-filled atmosphere. Enjoy the knife-wielding skill and showmanship of specially trained chefs as they prepare the freshest meals before your eyes on hibachi grills. Specialties include carefully chosen steak, seafood, chicken, and vegetables, and don't miss the fabulous flaming onion volcano.

Prepare to doff your shoes if you're sitting in one of the traditional spaces with low, recessed tables--although standard western table seating is also available. Despite the restaurant's misnomer (the beef is American), steak is especially good, and seafood is fresh and properly cooked. For dessert, chocolate mousse is totally un-Japanese, but still rich and yummy.

The Kobe beef cuts like butter and goes down just as quick. The price may discourage families, but it is worth a special occasion. The food was great, the restaurant was beautiful, and the cook was fun as well. The chef interacted with us while cooking. Their soup and salad are authentic even their entres as well! I've tried many others around in Tennessee werent as authentic as Kobe's. Fun to watch! Theres a bar and low profile couches. Their cocktail drinks are great, but go easy on them!! They are easily addicted! Parking isnt a problem!! Best for romantic dates and even kids birthday! They sing birthdays in japanense! It is a fun place for groups of all ages and the food was very good. I don't normally eat red meat, but the steak was excellent here, as was the shrimp. We had very good service and a relatively short wait on a Friday night. One of my sons had eaten here before, and highly recommended it. We will be back!
