Owner Katshiko "Vic" Watanbe proudly opened Kobe Steaks in a small Atlanta 17th Street location, introducing many Atlantans to hibachi-style cooking. In 1977 an opportunity to open a larger location in Nashville, Tenn. arose and, keen to expand, Vic successfully moved Kobe Steaks to Nashville. To ensure an overall Japanese dining experience, the restaurant's decor was carefully designed by one of Japan's leading architects. At Kobe Steaks you'll experience creative hibachi cooking in a fun-filled atmosphere. Enjoy the knife-wielding skill and showmanship of specially trained chefs as they prepare the freshest meals before your eyes on hibachi grills. Specialties include carefully chosen steak, seafood, chicken, and vegetables, and don't miss the fabulous flaming onion volcano.

Kobe Steaks is a great authentic dining experience. The atmosphere looks like something out of the streets of Tokyo. When it comes to the decor, you just want to follow in the ways of the Japanese and take your shoes off and sit on the floor. The food is amazing combining both American (steak) and Japanese (sushi) cuisines making for one great restaurant!

Hibachi at its Finest
by xizor
The chefs are extremely talented as well as entertaining. The Kobe beef cuts like butter and goes down just as quick. The price may discourage families, but it is worth a special occasion.
Pros: delicious, entertaining
Cons: expensive

Great Time.
by chaychay
I went there with my boyfriend for our anniversary and love the environment. The food was great, the restaurant was beautiful, and the cook was fun as well. The chef interacted with us while cooking. Currently I am in the process of booking my birthday dinner at Kobe and I can't wait to let me family get to enjoy the party as well.

Great Hibachi Steak House!
by foodcriticTN
The food is great!! Try the Chicken and Shrimp in a white wine sauce!!! I grew up in Nashville, i've been to there a lot of times since i was little. Their soup and salad are authentic even their entres as well! I've tried many others around in Tennessee werent as authentic as Kobe's. Fun to watch! Theres a bar and low profile couches. Their cocktail drinks are great, but go easy on them!! They are easily addicted! Parking isnt a problem!! Best for romantic dates and even kids birthday! They sing birthdays in japanense! Fridays and Saturdays evenings from 5-7pm is packed! They open at 5pm. make reservations is highly recommended if you prefer to go on Friday or Saturday. Weekdays isnt problem to go!

GOOD PRICE, GOOD FOOD, BAD PORTION SIZE
by tmwillis777
THIS IS A GREAT PLACE TO SPEND THE EVENING, THEY HAVE COUCHES AND A BAR RIGHT UP FRONT AS YOU WAIT TO BE SEATED. WE HAD NO RES. BUT THEY WORKED US IN FAIRLY QUICK. THE FOOD WAS AMAZING, ALTHOUGH CERTAIN PEOPLE MAY NEED MORE IF THEY ARE VERY HUNGRY. I SEE NO PROBLEM TAKING THE KIDS OR THAT SPECIAL SOMEONE. WE HAD A LARGE GROUP AND THEY TREATED US GREAT. WE ALL WILL DEF. RETURN SOON.
Pros: AMBIENCE, WAITING AREA ....COUCHES AND A BAR
Cons: PORTION SIZE OF MEAL

Good food, good fun
by clfourman
My husband and I and our 3 grown sons just celebrated my birthday at Kobe Steaks. It is a fun place for groups of all ages and the food was very good. I don't normally eat red meat, but the steak was excellent here, as was the shrimp. We had very good service and a relatively short wait on a Friday night. One of my sons had eaten here before, and highly recommended it. We will be back!
Pros: Great for groups of all ages, lots of fun

Good time, good food
by janisfan
This is the deal. Most nights, the food is wonderful. However, I have been there when there seemed to be a new cook and the person "burned" my steak, vegetables, etc. Still, the fun involved of the people around makes this a great place. Moreover, the food is very affordable for what you get. I love the Kobe's Best. The scallops are great. I rated this high because I've only had one cook that wasn't good. Therefore, I am looking at all the "good" service, fun, and food I have been served. It is a must. If it is a first trip there, ask for a cook who has been there awhile so you get a true taste of "Kobe's Best".
Pros: Ambience
Cons: I would not take my little ones. It might scare them.

Best Hibachi Style food in Nashville!!
by tennesseegal99
Overall Kobe is the best hibachi style food around. The service is always wonderful and food even better. I am a very picky eater, but I get my meal just the way I want it. I totally recommend the Teriyaki Steak (with a lobster tail side order) or the Cream Chicken Special. Kobe even makes zucchini without the onions when I ask. Since its so good, youll always have a wait around peak times. We usually sit in the bar and have some sake. If you dont want to wait, you should go early or late. Kobe seats parties of any size, even late night around 10:30 p.m. on Friday & Saturday. Kobe is moderately priced for the food type, but its not outrageous. I just cant say enough good about Kobe. I highly recommend you try it!!
Pros: Great Healthy Food at a Fair Price! Free Valet Service.
Cons: It's so good, the wait is sometimes long. Typically, they seat you in less time than quoted.

worst japanese i've ever eaten
by iknowfood78
i don't know how this place is still in business. we ate the hibatchi and the salad was bland, and the miso soup had noodles in it and tasted like it was out of the can. the sauces were cheap and tasted horrible one of them being like ketchup. (there was no shrimp sauce served) the food was hands down the worst hibatchi i have ever had and in the top 3 of the worst meals i have ever had, and it was over priced. if you are ever in Jax FL try Chizu at the beach, it's amazing.
Pros: nice location
Cons: horrible food

Worst hibachi ever!
by twigs
I've been to many hibachi restaurants, but hands down this is the worst of all. For example, the sauces they served were cheap and nasty. And out of the two sauces, one of them was ketchup!
No white sauce was served because they did not have it. The chicken was undercook and greasy. They used a ton of butter for everything, and the cook was uneventful. The fried rice was served with canned veggies and a ton of pepper. The prices are extremely high. If you have eaten hibachi, do not go here!!!
Pros: fast service

Pros: Free Valet Parking

Why?
by Kane
I've been dragged here a couple times by friends, but would never go of my own accord. The food is bland at best. I once ordered a filet that was about as tough as the flank steak I grilled back at home, and have found all of the other food there to be of equal caliber. Very little authentic Japanese food, and the prices are through the roof. The food is decent if you just want a steak, but there are many other Japanese restaurants around (i.e. Taste of Tokyo on 21st) where you can obtain better food at much lower prices. The only thing Kobe has going for it is the fact that it's a hibachi grill, which is only fun the first 3 times.
Cons: expensive

Excellent Food but pricey
by mcfarltr
I moved here from Chattanooga and am used to the quality food of Kanpai of Tokyo. Of all the Japanese steak houses I've tried in Nashville and Cool Springs, it is by far the best tasting. The service is very good. The only thing I don't care for is the price. Prepare on spending $20.00 per person minimum. At that price I can't go as often as I'd like.
