I have been taking my pets to Karn's for at least 15 yr or more. I always trusted Dr. Butler and he actually saved one of my dogs from heartworms, at the age of 10! I believe in and trust Dr. Davis, who has taken over the practice since Dr. Butler's death. However, my experiences with a couple of the other vets now in the practice have not been great. It took 3 visitis, initiated by me, to have my dog diagnosed with CHF in 2008. I forgave them for that, however negligent I felt they had been. I called recently and left a question for "one of the vets" with the person who answered the phone. It was a question about medications and I called at 5:50pm. They close at 6:00. I made an error and spelled the med I was questioning wrong. I explained I had a dog that I felt was in severe pain and wanted to know if he could take Carprofen (I spelled it Carprosen) with the other meds he is taking for arthritis. He was miserable. Whatever vet was given this question (it wasn't Dr. Davis) said "she" didn't know that medication and I shouldn't give it. It was about 6:20 when I got a call back and was told the vets were done and going home. I am mortified that "she" didn't recognize that the spelling was probably wrong and call me back herself. I am also mortified that she would so casually dismiss the call because it was time to close and she just wanted to go home. They are vets, and a patient of approx. 7 years was in pain. He deserved more and I think so did I. I intend to call back in the am and ask for Dr. Davis to call me personally. However, depending on how that pans out, I am seriously thinking of a different vet clinic. It's not the same one it used to be. I can remember calling Dr. Butler at his home at 8:00pm when I had a question about a dog who is now deceased. I can't imagine that happening in the environment at Karn's presently. I am very disappointed and disillusioned.

This is another vets office that has been a good price while still being a qualified vet. I enjoy being able to go in and not feeling pressured to pay for high priced procedures that I cannot afford.
