This is a delightful avian shop! I have read some reviews about the staff being less then welcoming to children in the store, and I can assure you that the staff is watching your children out of caution. Birds are just as curious as children, and IF your child moves too fast or the bird thinks they are a threat they will protect themselves and their domain.... the only way they know how which is to bite, which can be VERY painful and can also result in an injury requiring stitches or even a broken bone. This would set the shop up for a law suite and scare a child for life. Would you allow your child to stick their hands in a lions cage? OF COURSE NOT! I say take your child ( one at a time ) to admire the beauty and antics these wonderful companions display and keep your eye on your child..... do not assume the birds are tame and loyal to everyone, that is trust and respect that must be earned... a great lesson for everyone.

Our daughter researched and saved her money for almost a year in order to buy a parakeet for her 10th birthday. She ended up receiving some gift cards to Petsmart so that's where she bought her cage, supplies, and her parakeet. It's been almost two months now and despite the entire family spending hours every day trying to socialize the bird (lots of reading and research went into how to do this properly), it is still "wild" and "freaks out" every time anyone comes within five feet of the cage.
On our way to Knoxville last night we noticed the sign for Strictly Feathers and stopped in to see if they might have some suggestions on how to get the bird to be friendlier. We were really disappointed when the sign said closed, as it was exactly 5:00. A nice lady, Gwen, came out of the door and asked if she could help us. After explaining the situation about the bird, she asked us into the store (after she'd already closed) and proceeded to spend 45 minutes with our 10 year old daughter (plus our 12 year old son was with us). She explained to our daughter that the bird she received is probably an older bird and may never become friendly due to the stressful environment it was in. She recommended trying to return the bird and she showed us how to recognize a young, healthy bird and how to socialize it. Gwen did not even have to let us in the door, yet she spent almost an hour of her time on her knees, eye-level with my daughter, talking calmly and gently to her, and explaining everything she needs to do to care for her parakeet.
The next step is to try to return the bird to Petsmart. If they will take it back, we will definitely return to Strictly Feathers for a new, young parakeet. Never once did she ask us to buy a bird from her. She just gave us her knowledge and time. Gwen has won our loyalty. Thank you!!!

I read where Strictly Feathers had parrotlets-which I was looking for. I talked to Gwen and she was so helpful. She cares very much for her birds. My husband purchased a parrotlet from her and she went out of her way to make sure that I had the right foods and care sheet. She took the time to talk with me on the phone. I really appreciated the help and am thrilled with our new family member. Gwen is one of the nicest people that I've spoken with.

My family visited the Strictly Feathers store on Saturday afternoon. I was pleased to meet both Gwen and Carol. It was obvious to me that these ladies know birds and genuinely love birds. I was looking for a parrotlet. It turns out Gwen had a young, yellow, parrotlet that was ready to go. They explained all about the care of the new bird and asked that I bring her back in 3 months for a trim. While we worked with Gwen, Carol was busily helping other customers. Our boys (ages 10 and 15) were welcomed, unlike what I read one other review. If anyone is in the market for a bird or bird products, I would highly recommend Strictly Feathers.

I have a young bird who lost his foot and also has scissor beak. I have been going to strictly feathers ever since I acquired him. Today they were able to work on his beak and it looks so much better and I'm sure he will be able to eat a lot better than before. Gwen and the gentleman who worked on my little Frankie were patient and kind and took an hour to work on him so he wouldn't be too stressed. I am so grateful to them for their professional and kind attention. His beak has worried me for a long time but I didn't know if anything could be done. I would highly recommend this store for all of your bird needs. If you are looking for someone who will be warm and fuzzy with you, you may not always like what Gwen has to say but I'll promise you one thing, she will do her very best by the birds in her store and by your bird too and that is what I'm looking for in a store dedicated to the welfare and well being of birds.

To Ann R. You may believe your children are well behaved, however that was NOT the case when you visited the store. (Eyewitness accounts attest to this.) People do not expect children to remain well behaved in a confined environment for more than 20 minutes. Ask any teacher about the challenges on THAT! This is especially true with exotic animals who cannot be petted like a puppy. Children do not "get it" so their parents MUST. The goal of Gwen and her staff is to make sure a bird is healthy and well adjusted to humans when it is "adopted" by its new family. A bird thinks it is being teased when someone puts a finger or object up to it and then quickly removes it. That behavior can have damaging and lasting psychological effects on a bird.

In the case of this store, many of the birds cost well over $2,000. They can be easily frightened by fast moving adults and children and break a wing or worse. That is why there are rules. The birds are also extremely susceptible to germs and disease, so putting ANY object such as a feather or finger up to a bird is a big NO NO NO. I've always been amazed that Gwen allows her birds to be within reach of anyone other than staff.

As a physician, I know what I'm talking about regarding germs, disease and psychology. I've also seen customers abuse HER in some of my dozens of trips to the store to purchase food and supplies. Some have been rude, disrespectful and careless with making sure their children are under complete control. I've seen kids run up and down the store, and when the parents don't act, Gwen has to.

So Ann, please stay away from all birds, all pet shops and all animals. You are not a happy, fulfilled person, and your personality is not conducive to being a pet owner. I will pray for you to find grace.

Hello my name is Brittney, I live in knoxville and have all my life. In August 2011 we decided to purchase a parrot for our kids. One Sat we took a journey to strickley feathers.. Wow I am amazed at the customer service, support and love for those birds!! .I found myself rather dissappointed to read the earlier review. I have two kids one seven and one ten. My younger child is a special needs child, but you would never know by looking at her. She takes lots of EXTRA patience ,Im in no way complaining God has been good to me. I never had one problem in our two hour stay at Strickley Feathers!!!!!! I felt my children were very welcome...I feel that Gwen has a special love for children and her birds, if by chance she ask a child to stop I feel it was only for the childs safety. I spent a good half hour talking to Gwen about my special angle and the goodness of our Saviour Jesus Christ. I had never met nor stepped foot in this store until this day.
If by chance you were offended I feel positive that Gwen would have explained her concerns i. Gwen you and your business has been a blessing to our home! God bless you !!

When we moved to Knoxville 4 months ago, I found this great store off Old Broadway. I ventured in with my very well behaved children and we read the rules on a board at the front of the store out loud so all the children could hear. I could feel the eyes of the store owner all over us as well as her single employee. We were not wanted. The owner must have had poorly behaved children in her store in the past. We looked around briefly and left. A couple of weeks later, we went back to admire the store again. Still, the same uneasy feeling of unwantedness, although my children we exemplary. A third time we returned, leaving the 3 year old at home and taking an older child, a friend of my eldest daughter with us. We arrived, read the rules allowed and proceeded about the store. Eyes peered on us. The uneasy feeling returned. Our guest, my daughter's friend stuck a feather into a bird cage while my back was turned. There was nothing in the rules about not sticking feathers into cages. My children new better but the guest made an error. The employee quickly swooped down, fussing and grumbling at the poor child. She told her and my daughter that they new they were doing wrong, but in fact, the little girl had no idea. She is a 10 year old child who was very interested in the birds and made a harmless mistake. I feel for the owner, having to deal with poorly behaved children in her store from time to time, but the unwelcome feeling emitted cannot be excused. I won't be back.

Today I call Gwin Woodard for Georgia to ask her about my 40 year old grey. She had no idea who I was and I have never been in her store in Knoxville but she talked to me as if I was her most faithful customer. She answered all my questions about Pope and gave me great information on the care of him for, I hope, another 40 years. Thank you Gwin for being a caring person not only for the birds but for the concerned owners. You are the best.

I agree with every word D.P. said. I have been going there for 6 years and have had nothing but the best service. There feed is extremely fresh no more than 2 days old. She does have a lot of people that come in to just look around, but is more than happy to spend whatever time is nessesary to help you make the right decision. She will NOT sell a bird to anyone that she thinks can't handle it. She has a big bird right now that she took a deposit on, the man wanted to take it home right then, but she wouldn't let him. She asked him to come in regularly for two weeks to get to know the bird and make sure that he really wants it. These birds can easily out live you and it's not something you get into on a whim. It's not fair to the birds to be sold to someone that decides in a year or two they want to get rid of it. You wouldn't do it to your child. It takes that same commitment. I would not ever go anywhere else and wouldn't tell anyone else to either. Their are some people that can't be satisfied no matter what and they should just keep going right on by because she does not need your business.

My husband and I recently had the opportunity to visit a pet supply shop which specializes in birds. We took our parrot"chester" there because his leg band had became embedded in his shin. He was in pain and needed help. Saturdays are for sales cleaning and whatever else needs to be done in the store, but after explaining the sttuation , Miss Gwen was kind enough to let us bring him in to try to help him. We were so grateful. When we arrived we were greeted by a soft spoken , mild mannered gentleman whose name is Mr. Gary. Miss Gwen was busy taking care of customers. She said "I'll Be with you as soon as I can." There was another assistant whose name is Mr.Jack . He was talking to customers and tending to all the loving birds. My husband brought our birds from the car Chester and Budwiser When things calmed a bit Miss Gwen came to say hi, I immediately felt the warm , caring and loving feeling I had felt when Mr. Gary had greeted us.
He reached in Chester's cage and gently took him out. After looking at his leg he suggested we mjght want to talk him to UT to have the band removed. Looking at the mans kind gentle eyes, I knew I couldn't trust anyone more than him. I begged him to please try to remove it himself and I wouldn't hold anyone responsible no matter what happened.
He sat down and talked to Chester in a soft, gentle tone. Miss Gwen held Chester gently while Mr. Gary began to work on his tiny leg. They were missing a tool and Mr. Jack and Miss Gwen never stopped looking for it. Even when miss Gwen came back to hold Chester, Mr. Jack kept looking dilegently.
From 11:00 am to 3:30 pm Miss Gwen and Mr. Gary worked ont this imy little leg. They gave him frst periods in between. Customers fame and would stop to chat. I never saw anyone come in, puchase something and just leave. Even the postman took a moment to say hello to Hannah and Katie who seem to be the "stars" of the shop.
After four and a half hours of drilling with tiny tips and clipping Mr. Gary had made his way through the small metal band! Believe it or not, there were no injuries. This was truly nothing less than amazing to us. He literally saved Chesters life. We're so grateful.
These caring, loving, tender people and these beautiful wondrous, majestic birds are not just friends. They are truly a mixture of a God given family.
So thank you Miss Gwen, Mr. Gary, and Mr. Jack for your devotion. This has truly been an eye opening and educational experience.
This shop should be re-named "Strickly Amazing"

2/12/11 Today was the first time I had been in strickly feathers and was impressed with the knowledge the owner and her staff had about what and how to take care of my macaw that was given to me they even told me how to potty train her the people that gave her to me had not taken alot of time with her, in fact they even taught her some bad words to say and Gwen gave me suggestions on how to get her to say something else that would stop her from doing that. She even gave me some food for my bird to try. I will be back to this store. THANKS FOR YOUR ADVISE

I have been going to Strictly Feathers for over a year now and have purchased a healthy/sweet/ Tiel. Gwen & the ladies that work there are ALWAYS helpful. You may have to be a little patient while they are helping other customers, but Gwen will give you her full attention. She has helped me on numerous occasions, and my daughters and I enjoy stopping in once a month for a visit with Gwen and her special birds. EVERY time I stop in, I am greeted with a warm smile and "hello". I have watched the ladies feed/water the birds on many, many occasions. I am getting ready to purchase my next Tiel there very soon.

It is with great disappointment I'am responding to your comments. I would'nt usually spend time answering something like your negative comments. However I know first hand your negative comments are far from the truth. I have purchased birds from Strictly Feathers. They are healthy and beautiful. The birds in the store are cared for with love and compassion. I know for a fact the birds have fresh food and water every day,and clean cages. As far as Gwen being nasty thats just not so. You need to look up the meaning of the word nasty. I also have witnessed Gwen help many people that come to her store with sick birds that did'nt come from her store,. Gwen will always answer questions and educate you on how to care for your bird. Also let me add if Gwen does'nt feel the bird will be placed in the right home Gwen would'nt sell the bird. Your comments are mean spirited and uncalled for. Maybe you havn't heard the old saying. If you don't have something good to say don't say it at all especially when it is'nt true. As far as people putting fingers in the cage, how would you like to be a bird in a cage getting poked by someone every day. I think the statement you made about being told not to put your fingers in the bird cages says a lot about the kind of person you are. If I came along and kicked your dog as you walked him would that be o.k.? So really find something better to do with your time, maybe go volunteer and take care of some birds and see what hard work it is to care for birds. Then maybe you will have a clue what you are talking about. My advise to you is when it comes to birds you should sew your lips shut! p.s.maybe you should go to the shop where the man sells birds and had dead rats on the counter.

My advise to you is when it comes to birds you should sew your lips shut! p.s.maybe you should go to the shop where the man sells birds and had dead rats on the counter.

I have only been to Strictly Feathers a few times, but that is enough to know I will NEVER buy anything (and certainly NOT A BIRD) from them again. My first visit was to buy owner-recommended OTC meds for one of my birds. I had to return this medicine because my AVIAN vet told me it was dangerous to use pet store meds. Upon returning this item, the owner haughtily told me that she would never take her birds to an avian vet. She may know a lot about birds, but not as much as an avian veterinarian. I feel sorry for any birds that get sick in her care. This must be a constant issue for them since store appearance and maintenance is NOT a high priority. It is the size of a single-wide trailer, cramped, cluttered, and dusty. I sincerely hope that all their birds are young and have not gotten their adult feathers because none of the birds for sale have lustrous, vibrant plumage. All the larger birds are in cages that are so cramped that they cannot easily turn around. Lastly, the staff is highly unprofessional and rude to their customers. Their signs pertaining to not touching the birds are old and faded and not properly displayed. When an unknowing customer makes the unfortunate mistake of touching one of the birds, they are publicly berated like recalcitrant children. I witnessed this on my last visit. The poor lady was in tears when she left and my heart went out to her. Any store that treats their customers so disrepectfully does not deserve to be in business, much less have mine!!

First of all someone who is going to write a review they should be able to spell. Now with that said I bought a bird from Gwen and we have become (NOT WERE) very good friends. I even take my bird back for what I call ??field trips?? because she is so great with him. All her birds are very healthy and content. I call Gwen the bird lady, as this seems to be her calling. With that being said Strictly Feathers is a great place for anyone who is interested in purchasing a bird. I have called Gwen numerous times asking questions and she has always answered them. She has always assured me to call anytime. People with a personal problem should keep them to their selves. GO GWEN, GO GWEN, GO GWEN!

I have been in Strictly Feathers many times too, and Gwen is a very NASTY, RUDE PERSON!! She talks down to you like you know nothing, this is NOT how you run a business. My perants always told me to kind to people, and treat others as you want to be treated, a smile always go a long. I'm sure the birds can also sense her unkindness, personally I have never seen her talk or interact with the birds. As for the ones that responded on how nice Gwen is they must be special or Gwen must be have a good day. Even the little old lady that works in the back of the store never says ANYTHING! I do not believe its because she not kind. We all go through trials in our life that can wear us down, and even change our spirit. But a place of business IS NOT WHERE WE SHOULD BRING OUR PROBLEMS. Gewn is really an attactive woman, but she needs to put a SMILE ON HER FACE also speak to her CUSTOMERS with KINDNESS! I'm sorry; I just really don't like when people treat ANYONE UNKIND! I have a BIG HEART and it HURTS ME to see people be DISRESECTFUL to others.

Strictly Feathers is an outstanding place for birds. The staff is nice, and helpful, and Gwen, the owner, is great with the birds. If Gwen herself does not greet you at the door , then she is most likely talking to a customer, feeding the baby birds, or helping an employee. I bought a lovebird there about a year ago, and she's so lively, and healthy, and i am soon getting a cockatiel there. I persuade yu to go here, all birds are healthy, good pricing, and a good home. Gwen sells many types of birds from, parakeets, to cockatiels, to exotic birds you see at the zoo!! She aso sells cages, bird toys, and food & supplies. It is deffinetly a 5 star store! It may be small on the outside bu when you walk in you are in another world!! I EXTREMELY recomend going there to buy a bird, cages,or just bird supplies!

I have been in this store many times and have witnessed the owner, Gwen being very rude to her customers and to her employees. She even told me on one occassion not to listen to what her employees say because she is the only one that knows everything about birds. Why does she have employees working with birds if they don't know about them? I have thought about purchasing a bird but everytime I am in there it is like she does not have time to help me. I have since purchased a bird through a local breeder/vet and have been well pleased with the openness and availablity for questions. I have also read numerous articles and books that recommend that you give your birds at least 8 hours of uninterrupted darkness for sleep. The only birds that suffer from night frights are the cockatiels and then you should only have a night light for them. Not total light. I also have seen a huge reduction in her inventory and toy selection.

I have read the reviews and praises about Gwen and the staff at Strickly Feathers. I agree totally with all the reviews but 2. I've know Gwen, but just for 2 years now. I met her through a friend of mine who has a bird and sent me there to see about getting a bird for my daughter (10). Let me tell you how it really is, J.H. who wrote a bad review, JH don't know about birds cause if they did, they would know the lights have to be left on, not for security but because some birds have night frights and if its dark in the business they could hurt or even kill themselves trying to fly in the dark from being scared from just a dream they had. The lights being on keeps them calm, safely caged and they sleep just fine, go in sometime and look around you'll see, I'm sure you'll see 1 or 2 a napping. Now for Jennifer G. review, if you go in, first thing you do is read the signs of warning and rules about the birds, some of the birds do bite, but most don't because they have been hand raised and hand fed since they were hatched right on site or at Gwen's house. This not a kids playground or a petting zoo, please follow the rules. If you don't ask them a question or tell them you are interested in buying a bird, they assume you have just come in to look around. They have a lot of people that just come in because someone like me has told them about this fantastic place, my brother being 1 of them. He still talks about the bird store. If you plan on buying ask for suggestions and lots of questions, you don't pick the bird, let it pick you. That was the first thing Gwen told me about buying a bird. ( It took me 5 months to find the one I liked that wanted to go home with me) If you are going to handle a bird WASH YOUR HANDS. Germs will make them sick. Myself, I bought a cockitiel for me and later a parrotlet for my daughter, the cockitiel took a liking to me. Sometimes it works that way. Birds are not like your usual pet, they are like a member of your household, they like to be with you and your family, interacting. Some will bite when you first get themor when they get scared cause they are trying to adjust to you and there new surroundings, but usually not hard. Like a hard pinch. In a few short weeks it will cease and the fun begins. They are entertaining, comical, and all around good pets. Ours will chirp at us when we come home or they see us getting them some freah food and water. Go in sometime and listen at Strickly Feathers, they have a lot of birds, some will say "Hello" "Bye Bye" sing Rocky Top or whistle the theme song to 'Mayberry"( that would be George) so I'm sure you can find a bird that will like you and in your price range, if you don't find one that day come back in a week or two, there will be a new group to choose from. Gwen sells a lot of birds and all the stuff you will need to get started enjoying a bird for a pet. So don't let 2 bad reviews keep you away. ASK a lot of questions before you buy or just listen to Gwen while she talks to her customers. Never know what you will learn. How about that, see what I've learned in just 2 short years. Next time you stop in ask about the veggie corn bread recipe. My birds just love it, and its good for them too. Lots of vitamins. I eat some of it too. NO, I'm not crazy, but it would help. :-)

I've been in the store a few times and the owner has always seemed a little peculiar but usually helpful. I have driven by many times after they close and they always have the lights on. I don't see how the birds get any sleep! It must be really unnatural for them. I realize that it must be a security issue but it seems there could be some alternative, at least cover the cages. Also, I'm not sure exactly where they get their birds but it's always good to inquire if a store imports live birds from other countries. This is usually a horrible practice and ends up killing 1,000s of birds that are taken from there natural habitat and shipped 1,000s of miles to America. Always best to buy captive bred local birds.

I really like Strictly Feathers. I had a female cockatiel from there. She sadly died 5 years ago from a bacterial infection. I was devastated, as I had a lot of control over everything and completely bird proofed my house. I don't think a bird is the right pet for most people. You can't use your non stick cooking surfaces, including things like waffle irons and anything with a nonstick coating. Birds require a LOT of care. My cockatiel was VERY hard to care for and she was constantly letting me know she was mad about something. You need to look at a list of toxic substances and throw them all out. To be honest, some birds may like children, but not most, especially youn g children. I would strongly recommend NOT getting a bird if you have small children, if you're unwilling to bird proof your home, or are not able to spend hours a day with your bird. They are birds, not goldfish. A lot goes into their diet and care, and their minds have to be stimulated very often. They also NEED time with their owner and will suffer mental illness and then physical illness if you can't spend time with them. Yes Strictly Feathers is a GREAT place to get birds and bird supplies, but your job as a bird owner is not just feeding them every day and changing their cage. While that's extremely important, there's more to it than that, and just because they are pretty does not mean you should buy one unless you are prepared to care for them properly. There is NO SUCH THING as a starter bird. It is rewarding to have a bird, but a lot of work! But if you do decide to get one get it at Strictly Feathers!

Three yrs ago I decided to get a bird, I went to Gwens shop and she was a wealth of information, educated me on my different choices. I went with a conure for my first bird, since then I have also adopted a senegal and an african grey from Gwen. Gwen and her staff are always helpful, caring, and patient with my frequent concerns-im an overprotective parrot mom! lol Anyone considering a parrot should go to Strictly feathers! Fantastic service, friendly, informative, supportive, and the birds are healthy, happy and a real joy! I continue to frequent Gwens shop as I do not buy my parrot food anywhere but there, same with toys-I learned through a big scare not to buy toys at petsmart and other chains--those chain stores don't care about the safety of their bird toys-Gwen does!

counseling and advice that you will ever get concerning your bird.
If you are lucky enough to take one of Gwen's supremely wonderful
companion birds, you will have a friends for life, both with Gwen
and your pet. Knoxville would be so much less with out Strictly
Feather, and the avian food that is there is always fresh and of the
highest quality.
I wish that everyone could take a virtual tour of her store, to prepare themselves for the wonder that lays beyond the doors
of her wonder store. Gwen is gracious and helpful, as well as her staff, and it is one place not to be missed!

I purchased Cowboy & Cricket (2) cockatiels in Feb, 2001 or 2002. Her birds are healthy, happy and they chose me. Her supplies and pricing is great and quality is high. Recently I had to remove them from my home and when Gwen was asked for help to find a new home, she volunteered to keep them free of charge. I called Gwen and explained I could not bring them back home to please adopt them out, she told me she was going to keep them herself. My experience with Strictly Feathers has been the best ever. She really cares about her animals and customers. Thanks again Gwen. Elaine Boatner, Knoxville, TN.

thanks to gwen at your store, I KEPT FROM MAKING A BIG MISTAKE. My 11 year old son really wanted a parakeet but Gwen told me when we came by that because of his asthma a bird would not be the best pet for him. This fact was also confirmed by our physician. I can,t tell you how grateful I am to have not found out this information the hard way and breaking my sons heart in the process. Thanks for your help . I would recommend your store to anyone who is interested in finding out if a bird is the right pet for them. thanks again, susan

Strictly Feathers is the absolute best place to learn to care for, love, and buy your pet bird! I have been a customer there for years and usually go in the store at least once a week to visit the wonderful birds and talk to their caring owner, Gwen. She is fantastic! She is always attentive and considerate to my many questions and concerns regarding my birds. I purchased 2 cockatiels and 1 lovebird from Strictly Feathers. These birds are the healthiest birds you will find anywhere and it's all because of Gwen's expertise and knowledge of all exotic birds. I would never buy seed or other bird items from anyone else because Strictly Feathers carries only the best products at a very reasonable price. If you are thinking about purchasing a pet bird, please visit Gwen and I believe you will find the quality and price are unbeatable!!

I have been a regular customer of Strictly Feathers for years. They have a very courteous, knowledgable and friendly staff that are always very helpful and friendly. I was so shocked to see the negative review given by Jennifer below. I have known Gwen for years and have had hundreds of opportunities to witness the way she conducts her business. I am in the store at least twice a month and have never, ever seen or heard her treat anyone like that review portrays her treating a customer. When you walk in Strictly Feathers you are always greeted with a warm hello. If not by Gwen herself who could be in the back, hand feeding babies, or busy with a customer at the other end of the store, then by one of the numerous parrots mimicing her voice after hearing her greet her customers with a cheerful and friendly hello. Gwen is a very friendly and personable, yet responsible and professional business owner and breeder. I have even seen her response to children and teens who are poking their fingers in cages and stressing out the birds on numerous occasions. She gently corrects and educates them as to proper handling and warns them of the dangers of birds that will bite. I have always been very impressed with the way she handles such situations since she has to daily deal with children and teens who treat her store and her birds like it is a petting zoo. It is always handled in a gentle and controlled manner. I can't imagine anyone handling those situations any better than she does. Thanks for being there for us Gwen. You've got the best bird store in Knoxville, customers are treated like family, the store is wonderfully stocked, and the birds are healthy and beautiful. Who could ask for more? I wouldn't shop anywhere else!

I have been a customer at Strictly Feathers since the day it opened! At that time I had a cockatiel, and was surprised to see how much better "Matilda" felt when I gave her the fresh seeds from Strictly Feathers. Gwen and Roy Woodard became my friends over the years as I purchased food, supplies and nine more birds from parakeets, to Sun Conures, to an African Grey and a Cockatoo. Gwen and Roy advised me on all aspects of my bird family, and I always was made welcome at the store. Since Roy's passing away, Gwen has carried on the business with the same emphasis on love of birds and customer support. Strictly Feathers is my favorite store because the staff is knowledgeable and friendly; the birds are beautiful and healthy; supplies are abundant and fresh, and I am treated like family there. It is most likely the best bird in the southeast! Highly recommend it to anyone who loves birds.

The first time I entered the store there was only one other customer and 3 women working. I hung out for at least 15 minutes and was never approached by anyone who worked there, so I left. I waited a few hours and returned only to hear the owner (Gwen) yell at an employee which I'm sure made her feel stupid in front of me. She then came over to me and reprimanded me as if I were a child. I felt very foolish as she talked condescending toward me. She was very rude and it seemed as if she was on a power trip. Why would an owner of a store act that way? Very poor customer service... I will tell everyone I know that they should look elsewhere when considering buying a bird...

The staff is super and very knowledgeable. They carry a wide variety of birds from Lady Gouldian finches to Eclectus to Greenwing Macaws. The toy selection is great and very fairly priced. The bird seed and pellets are always fresh and I have never had a problem with bugs or moths! The owner is very informative and will tell you what is best for your bird. The owner has been breeding and raising birds for over 30 years and the store has been where it is for over 16 years! You must see to appreciate it!

Today we made the two and a half hour drive down just to visit this shop! It was every bit worth the drive! Even if you do not purchase anything, it is worth stopping by for the knowledge they have to offer! It is no secret that they want the best for the bird and the new owner! If you are unsure of what kind of bird you may want, they will make sure to take time to help you make the right decIsion, as well as educate you on this decision! Wouldn't recommend going anywhere else! Make sure to always do your research ahead of time when your thinking of adding another member to your family!

I HAD BOUGHT A CITRON COCKATOO FROM A WOMAN ON CRAGISLIST. SHE ENDED UP BEING A VERY AGGRESSIVE BIRD AND ATTACKED ME AND GAVE A NASTY BITE ON MY HAND. I WAS DEVASTED AND DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO. I HAVE 2 SMALL BOYS AND I WAS VERY WORRIED THAT SHE WOULD BITE THEM. I CALLED GWENN TO ASK SOME ADVICE AND SHE ACTUALLY TOOK THE BIRD , AND I GOT A BABY CAIQUE THAT I AM NOT HANDFEEDING. THEY GAVE MY BOYS AN ADORABLE HAND FED BABY PARAKEET TO BE THEIR VERY OWN BIRD AND THEY HAVE NAMED HER LULU! GWENN RESCUED ME AND MY KIDS AND ALSO KEPT ME FROM MAKING ANOTHER MISTAKE IN BUYING AN OLDER AMAZON. WE ARE SO HAPPY WITH OUR LITTLE CAIQUE - KIWI! GWEN IS A VERY SWEET, CARING PERSON AND I WILL NEVER FORGET WHAT SHE DID FOR ME. SHE TOOK A REALLY BAD, SAD SITUATION AND MADE IT A GREAT , HAPPY EXPERIENCE!! THANK YOU GWENN, I WILL BE A CUSTOMER FOR LIFE! AND I CANNOT WAIT TO GET ANOHTER HAND FED BABY FROM YOU! I HIGHLY RECOMEND THIS STORE , THEY SELL AND HAVE A REALLY NICE SELECTION OF TOYS AND CAGES AND BIRD FOOD! THANK YOU GWENN, !!! I AM TRULY GRATEFUL! THE SIMERLY FAMILY!

I can't praise Strictly Feathers enough. Gwen has such dedication, compassion, & knowledge about birds and is always more than happy to share her experienced opinion with you. You'll leave her store with the right advice, the best choice of bird food (she'll even order some for you if not supplied), not to mention the joy of seeing an array of sweet, healthy, and TALKATIVE birds. Their water, cage floor, and food bowl always seem to be clean, which you know is hard to do if you're a bird owner. Gwen has graciously gone above and beyond the needs for my 12 year old Green Cheek Conure- Green Bean. Regarding my credibility as someone who is posting a comment: I've gone to Strictly Feathers for 7 years with nothing but great experiences regarding Gwen and her Broadway Birdhouse.

I went to Strictly Feathers to ""adopt"" a pet cockatiel. This is a really great store...they have so many beautiful birds and they are all healthy and happy! Gwen is so helpful and really cares about her birds. She wants to make sure that you get the bird that is right for you and she really knows what she is talking about. I will never go to a ""regular"" pet store again!!!!
