Transmission World Thiefs
by Jennifer M.
UPDATE:
My complaint was removed from this sight yesterday but my voice will be heard. That's what Transmission World does they shut everybody off and the rip offs don't stop. I am speaking to the city of Knoxville for a criminal investigation on the owner of Transmission World and his former businesses in Florida and New York. Please if anyone has been ripped off by transmission world you need to come forward to stop this crook as I am filing a class action suit. I am being interviewed by the news company tomorrow and my car company is getting attorneys on Transmission World tomorrow.
COMPLAINT:
Holding my car hostage for a $2500.00 repair issue that was only supposed to be a free tow and free estimate of what was wrong. No authorization to do repairs. Jim an employee of Transmission World received a phone call from me on September 11th, 2009 about my 2001 Mitshubishi Diamante not running. He said he would tow it in and check it for me to see what was wrong at no charge. Two days later he called me on my cell phone and told me that it would only cost $800.00 to fix my car and the following morning he called me and told me once he took my transmission apart it was worse than he thought and it would cost 2,500.00 to fix. I told him no way and to put my car back together and he told me it would be $600.00 to pick up my car and that I had to pay for towing. When I asked him about the free towing and estimate he said that was only if I agreed to fix my car there which is clearly not what he told me on the phone. I called the owner Gus and he told me that he wanted to help me and found a used transmission and would finance it for me $1500 down and I said no. I never agreed or signed anything for Transmission World to fix my car and they took it upon themselves to repair my car and hold it hostage until I pay $2500.00 when this should have only been a free estimate or $800.00 repair at the most. I feel this company is ripping off it's consumers with their dishonest methods of repair practices and holding cars and then selling them to make money.
* Pros: Worst Liars in the world
* Cons: Will steal your money if they can

scam artists
by Anonymous
took a vehicle there for repair. was quoted a price of $1,100 "at the most" for repairs and charged $500 (which would be applied to the $1,100) for them to tear into the transmission to inspect it. the following day, was told that it would cost $2,500. we had two options: pay the $500 for practically nothing or pay these scam artists $2,500 for the repairs that were supposed to cost $1,100 at the most. gave it one star only because i wasn't able to give it NO stars.

Transmission wWrld told me that my transmission repair would be under $800.00. When picked up the van, I was presented with a bill for $1780.00. I was never called for an approval prior to them fixing the van. I will never use them again, & if you are smart, neither will you...
PROS: none
CONS: doubled the estimate
