I am a Nashvillian but had never visited the Aquarium Restaurant before last weekend. I thought it was a pretty cool experience for a Saturday afternoon with a bunch of kids and no agenda of what to do for the day. I was surprised to see the variety of aquatic life in the restaurant's tank and my kids (ranging from 3-13) were entertained. My calamari was great - previous experiences with calamari at other restaurants made me want to steer away but I am glad that I tried it again. I had a party of 7 seven so my bill was hefty. But, it kept me from driving to Chattanooga for their aquarium! The ambience was very nice and I can imagine the Romantics around town would go for the atmosphere. The hostess could have been a little nicer but my service was pretty good...remember, I had a party of seven. So, overall, I was pleased.

I was warned by co-workers to be prepared for bad food. Not only was the food bad but the service was equally poor. I had a bowl of seafood gumbo that was burned to the point that it tasted like charred coffee, and the only recognizable seafood in the dish were the rubbery shrimp. The shrimp scampi also came with super tough shrimp. The fish tacos fell apart, and the fish tasted like it may have come straight out of a cardboard freezer box. My table received five dishes in all, all of which were sub-par. It was a laughable disappointment especially when we received the bill. We being from Nashville now understand the terrible reputation that this place has with locals. The high cost of maintaining a huge aquarium filled with exotic fish has to be the only reason for the expensive dishes. I'm sure in saying that money is not invested in anything quality when it comes to the ingredients. Nothing was fresh. I'm amazed that this place is able to survive, it's that bad. The tourist money that comes through Opry Mills Mall has to be the only thing keeping this place afloat. There's more bad to tell but I spare the details and instead urge anyone to reconsider dining here. Yuck.

Pros: Close up exotic fish encounters.

Cons: Food, service, the money they expect after a terrible experience.

I have already reviewed on tripadvisor but with the way corp has (not) handled my concerns has left an even worse taste in my mouth. My fiance & I have limited time to spend together & were excited to have a meal in such a romantic setting. Reservations were for 6 & our credit card was swiped at 6:43. This means that with the 5 min it took to be seated & the additional 5 long min before we were greeted, we were allotted 33 minutes total to dine. Our server was terrible from the beginning & did not speak more than she had to. She did not ask if we had any questions or make any suggestions. She took our order so quickly that I had to call out to her as she left that I wanted to add a salad to my meal (I only knew about this from reading the menu). We weren't given bread. She didn't even warn me that she was plopping a salad in front of me from behind or offer any pepper. We were less than halfway through our dinner when she came to "drop the check" ,at which time, she cleared my fiance's empty beer glass & did not offer him another. We couldn't see a manager on the floor but found the retail manager on our way out. We expressed our displeasure & he apologized. This server had been there for 2 years & never got complaints, he told us. He went to the hostess stand to get us the corporate number & ran into the dining room manager there. He explained our concerns to him. The floor manager made eye contact but not show the respect to come speak to us. On our way out an employee stopped us to say that she felt bad that we had had a bad experience. She told us that our server had waited on she & her family before & was just as horrible with them. I attempted to speak to someone at corp the following week. I was unable to reach a live person. I have left several messages but have still not heard back from anyone. It seems that this company is in it for the quick buck & could care less about offering quality customer service or an exceptional dining experience. WHAT A JOKE!

If you are attending this restaurant in hopes of good food that might be ok but if your going to enter with a nice pair of sunglasses or anything else valuable you would be better off to leave it outside the door! I ate there on Saturday at 2 p.m. the place wasn't busy no wait at all and seated fast. I got ready to leave left the tip a generous considering all I had was a coke! Left turned around not 10 min later walked back in and asked if they found my glasses! There was a guy at the hostess stand in his waiter uniform who walked in the back and returned and said the glasses where in the back! So I waited longer and still no glasses the guy who waited on me walked by and turned his head as if he didn't know I was looking for my glasses. Spoke to Eric the manager today and he said that he would call me back well I ended up calling him back at 5:39 since that 4 hours had passed when he was suppose to call me! He stated that he couldn't get a straight answer from his employees which says in my mind someone at the place had my glasses.. Thats fine I will take the loss of 180.00 pair of Oakleys that coke ended up costing me 187.00 so apparently they have the best coke in town at this price. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone at all like I said be careful could possibly get robbed at your table by the one your paying to take care of you!!

Well I was looking forward to this for 3 weeks, as it was our anniversary. We arrived a little early, there was hardly anyone there (4:30 pm) we were seated but made the mistake of walking on the wrong side of the ropes when you first walk in,oopps. we were told to stay to the LEFT. tanks were beautiful and so clean, ok... our waitress seemed to be very nice, she took our order and left, some one else delivered our food to us and we never received bread on the table as all other tables did. she didnt come back for some time and all waitstaff were seen talking with customers about the tanks and the fish, no communication with us at all. fries were way to salty! all in all a beautiful place but some waitstaff would rather be at home then there, oh ya if you save your dinner receipt and go across the way to sting ray reef, show them the receipt and you get free food to feed the rays. diver feeding at 5:30 was awesome, he was very frendly and was waving to customers, nice place but very over priced for what you get.

Food is good, great when you compare it to the rain forest cafe. I had reservations for 3 weeks in advance for a birthday dinner. I wanted to be seated by 6:30 so when I phoned weeks in advance, the girl recommended I make it and show up at 6 to have a large party seated by 6:30. Getting there at 6 per their request, they seemed upset the entire party wasn't there at this time, but did allow us to sit down at 6:30 (they were not super busy). They seated us at a ROUND table that was 2 short of our reservation. They said the remainder of the party could sit at a nearby table. After throwing a stink about this, the manager did manage to move 3 tables together. The seating hostesses are not the brightest, but it was a good evening once management was involved.

I visited the restaurant in March of 2008. I was seated promptly but that was the last positive. The Safari Club that I purchased at Rainforest Cafe (which I highly recommend) was not honored even though the restaurant was listed as a participant. I drove over over 150 miles to visit this restaurant because of my grandchildren. The service was slow and rude. The food was pricey even for the children. The adults did not order due to the rudeness of the waitress and the refusal to honor the Safari Club discount. I filed a complaint with an agency after the management would not respond to my phone calls. The management would not respond to the agency either. I was very disappointed and would not recommned this restaurant due to the management. The Rainforest Cafe is far better and the children enjoyed the atmosphere. Visit the Stingray Reef instead of the Restaurant.

We went Sunday evening to celebrate my son's birthday with his wife and 2 sons. We were seated immediately and our waiter was very prompt and attentive. Our 2 grandsons loved the fish tank. We love the ambiance of the full Aquarium experience. The food was delicious, service was excellent and we will definitely be back.

The atmosphere is above average. Beautiful place to dine. The management, at least on the night we dined there were extremely rude and uncooperative. Don't plan to use a coupon as they don't honor them. But do plan to spend over $100 for a family of 5 regardless. The service was not great. But other servers picked up the slack that ours lacked. The fact that management did not honor their coupon cost them my $25 meal as I refused to eat.
I'd say go dine here....but BEWARE - not of the fish, but the management.

My husband and I ate at the Aquarium tonight. While the tank was beautiful the food was terrible. It ended up taking us forever to get waited on and the food was cold. We also made it a point to eat there while the fish were being fed as we had been told how amazing it would be. I suppose it could have been except the eatery allows others to stand in front of the tank completely blocking the view. They were only serving at a twenty percent compacity and there was NO crowd control during this time. Seriously was terrible!
I will say if you have young children and are not there for the food then this is the place to take them. The diver takes pictures from inside of the tank which all the children loved. Just keep in mind that you are there for the tank and not the food.

I have been to the Aquarium Restaurant twice in the last year and 1/2. I love, love, love seafood and have always loved to admire sea life. The ambiance is calming and attractive....and that's about it!!!
I am a patient person, but this was ridiculous...twice!! My experiences were with dinner, at about 6 pm, once on a Wed, once on a Sat. The lines are l-o-n-g therefore you will wait awhile to be seated, (first time for an hour and 20 minutes, 2nd for 1hour & 55 minutes). The food was below average and fairly skimpy for the far from reasonable prices. Our waiter forgot we existed and the 2nd time, (on my birthday), he was down right rude. Prepare to spend all of your evening there, between waiting in line, time of order to pay & go, we averaged about 3 hours on the first visit and 4+ on the 2nd. Needless to say, we won't go back and I don't recommend this restaurant for dinner. If you have children and they or you enjoy sea life, I would recommend at least an appetizer or late lunch, the water life is a must see.

This was our early Thanksgiving in Nashville with all the kids and Grandchildren. We look forward to the treat of eating here every Nov. We will not be back. Service was terrible; this Nov. 4 '07. We have children that are waiters and waitress. They commented on how horrible it was this time. We had 13 people at our table. Food was S---L----O----W in coming. Food was very expensive for what you get.. The quality of the food has gone way down compared to other times we have eaten there. It seemed the waiter knew he was getting a 17% tip due to the number being served, so he didn't need to provide good service. He seemed to not be aware when we needed drink refills, although he was very quick to ask the two ladies eating at the table behind us if they needed refills. We were seated at 12:30 PM on Nov. 4, 2007 and didn't get or check until about 3:00 PM.

I have no idea what some of these people are talking about! (The ones who've had bad experiences.) We have been going there for 3 years! and have had wonderful service and food! Waiters/Waitresses have always been super nice and great at their job. Never once have we had a bad experience of any kind or any size. I highly recommend the dip (with shrimp, crab, cheese , dont know what it is called) for an appetizer and the Broiled Shrimp for your meal and any of the desserts. The food is the best that I've ever had (with the exception of my salmon) and I've got a picky palette. Those who have had a bad experience their first time, I suggest you give it another try. Haven't you ever had a bad day? And don't bring your kids if you cannot control them. That should be common sense. It makes everyone's experience worse, no matter how good, Staff and fellow diners.

Absolutely wonderful! I took my daughter and her two best friends there as part of her birthday trip to Nashville. I read the many reviews of the restaurant and saw some that said it was fantastic, and some that said it was awful. Well ... it was FANTASTIC! The girls (and myself and another mother) had the best time there! The food was probably the best seafood I have ever had. I got the broiled Captain's Platter, and every piece was fantastic. The grilled shrimp was excellent. The deserts were huge and served in a beautiful manner. The chocolate pecan tart was so rich! Each desert is enough to fee two people. The aquarium is amazing, especially the shovelnose guitar fish and the huge moray eel! The wait staff was superlative, I cannot remember any restaurant where I have had better service or friendlier waiters. The decor is fantastic. It is designed to look like you are sitting on the ocean floor in the midst of a coral reef. The ceiling has paintings on it. I sat underneath a picture of a sea turtle swimming overhead! The ceiling lights are brightly colored tropical fish with lights in them. Altogether wonderful. I can't think of a better place to have taken my daughter and her friends! Be sure to call ahead to make a reservation and you bypass the lines. Nice!

The Aquarium restaurant just doesn't serve fish, they also have chicken and burgers which the whole family can enjoy. Although it sometimes takes a while to get a seat there, it is enjoyable because they have huge fish tanks around the entire restaurant.

The Aquarium Restaurant is an experience that everyone should have at least once. I go there once a year on my birthday, and the service has always been wonderful. The wait can get a bit long on the weekends, but if you beat the crowds, you'll be fine.
The aquarium in the center of the restaurant is absolutely captivating, and the dim lighting really allows for a great view of it. The overall atmosphere is very relaxing, I think. The only downside to that is the potential noise when it gets really busy, but even that is usually not too bad.
I have always found the staff to be courteous and patient; they do their best in a very demanding position.
The one thing that really keeps me coming back though is the Chicken! I can't find this kind anywhere else, and it is delicious here. It is sweet and tangy at the smae time, and there is always so much of it! The portions here are outrageous and well worth the money. We usually get an appetizer, which means that I have never once finished my entree...I've never had the dessert because I've never had room, but maybe next time!?!
It is a great place for a birthday dinner. Our waiter gave me a stuffed clown fish from the gift shop (which I never would have gotten otherwise) after I finished eating.
All in all, I think it is an amazing experience. I would recommend it to everyone with kids, especially!

Pros: Ambience, Parking, Service, Location

Cons: Wait Time

.

We went there on a whim, there was no wait at around 8 on a Friday night. As soon as we walked in it was absolutely amazing. There's a 200,000 gallon fish tank in the middle of the dining room, with an amazing variety of creatures inside. The food was good, service was a tad slow but with the view I didn't care at all, it was just amazing to watch. Food's a little pricey, but really good. I would guess some of the overhead for care of the tanks is probably in the price of the food. I'll pay it anytime.

I can't wait to go back and take my kids. For more fun with kids go to the Stingray Reef across the way, you get to feed the stingrays. Really awesome.

It was a week day, I was doing some shopping with a friend of mine who was visiting. We decided to try this restaurant because it looked like fun. Our server seemed nice at the begining, but once our food arrived, we sort of picked at it. He noticed and asked if anything was wrong. We said it really wasn't that good. He wanted to know if we wanted anything else, we said no because we already had an app. and we we slightly full. He took our plates, asked if we had room for dessert, and then proceeded to drop the check. The manager even stopped by to see how everything was, and we told him we weren't that happy. He said he was "sorry". Needless to say weren't that pleased with the service or food. We weren't ones to complain, but it was awful. I wouldn't reccomend it at all.

I have never been so offended in all of my life! The service was horrific and the staff was rude! It took way too long for mediocre, high-priced desserts! The bus boy was shaking his head at us and our kids the whole time. It was not kid friendly at all! They wouldn't let me bring in my stroller for my twins so they were unhappy the whole time! I will NEVER go to this overpriced restaurant ever again! Don't waste your time!!

My husband and I just recently ate at the Aquarium Restaurant in Opry Mills Mall. I had been wanting to eat here forever, simply for the atmosphere. I love going to the Aquarium and looking at all of the different kinds of exotic fish, so being able to watch the fish swim around you as you eat was right up my alley. We dined here on a Sunday afternoon, and as expected we had a short wait to be seated. The service once we got inside the restaurant was good, nothing really spectacular about it, but still not horrible either. It took me a while to decide on what to order since I'm not really big into seafood, but I finally decided on the fried shrimp (it was about the only thing on the menu that appealed to me at all). I absolutely loved their menus though. They are filled will all kinds of information about different types of fish. I was so intrigued that after we ordered I asked to keep my menu to continue reading it. The food arrived in a normal amount of time, and it was alright. Again, nothing spectacular food wise. It is rather over-priced, but as with most theme restaurants, you're paying for the atmosphere and not the food. Overall, I had a good experience here. I don't see it being one of my favorite restaurants of all time, but I will eat there every once in a while. Whenever I'm in the mood to see some tropical fish!

PROS: Watching the fish and sharks swim around as you eat.
CONS: Over priced, not a wide selection of menu items

The food is delicious, and the portions are large. I usually leave with leftovers which I eat for lunch the next day. The food is well presented, and the aquarium is amazing. You will enter the restaurant underneath an aquarium tunnel. There is a large aquarium in the middle of the restaurant, something like 20,000 gallons? Huge! Every seat is a good one. Get there around 11:00 or 5:30 to see the diver feed the fish. The servers are knowledgeable about the fish. It is a lot of fun!

Once you step into the Aquarium Restaurant, it's like you're in a whole new world. There's a huge tank in the middle with all kinds of fish, sharks, sting rays...etc. swimming around. It is fun to watch them while you are relaxing and enjoying your meal. The food was excellent (although rather expensive) and I would highly recommend the Cheesecake dessert!

If you have kids it is hard to escape the obvious attraction to the beautiful aquarium. The ambience is great and entertaining but that about it! The service was lacking from the start with the hostess and continued to be less than desirable with the wait staff. The only high point was the busser who was prompt to clear the dishes of soggy, frozen seafood. While the prices are not overly expensive they are in line with higher end seafood restaurants. However, the quality throughout was just bad. The restaurant is part of the "Landry Seafood" family and I was expecting at least an average dinner. However, the kids had a blast and the aquarium was a good back drop.

If you're looking for an amazing "internal" Aquarium setting this place is very entertaining...if you're looking for great food...well, it's about average. The most disappointing part of our visit was the service...we didn't order wine or coctails and our waiter displayed very obvious contempt...water...(do you want bottled or "JUST" tap water)...then food was slow coming and already cool when it arrived...sort of set the tone for the whole evening. I loved watching the fish in the tanks but the prices reflect a much better quality of food and service than reality...not likely we'll return...there's much better places in town unless you like the "show". By the way, if you want a romantic spot this is NOT it. The place was full of shoppers with kids that were often running and out of control...too bad, the overall setting "could" be romantic...not the management's fault, just the way it is.

We stumbled across this restaurant while shopping. Its amazing ! Great atmosphere and the fish are enchanting. Seafood was good, Stuffed broiled shrimp was the best. Desserts are great, try the "shark attack". Server was very knowledgable about the fish and did a great job taking care of the five of us. Prices are average compared to most family restaurants. If you don't eat here, at least walk inside to look !

My husband and I went to this place for fathers day. The wait was not bad but by far the best part of the experience. The drinks were rarely refille. The food was almost hot and the service was the worst ever. I would highly recommend staying home and cooking a TV dinner. At least that would be hot. Our server Mandy didnt even try.

When planning my trip to Nashville I knew of one place I wanted to go and that was the Rainforest Cafe. I had been there once and loved the food and the atmosphere. It was a nice experience again. When looking for a place to eat the 2nd night I just happened upon the Aquarium restaurant and decided we should gove it a try. We got there around 5pm and was seated within minutes (pretty good for a Friday evening). Our service was good and the food was excellent. I had the chicken pasta with alfredo sauce and my mom had the brioled tilapia. My kids had pizza and pasta and this was the best meal of our entire trip. There are so many different types of fish in the aquarium and it was such a relaxing atmosphere. I wouldn't go to Nashville without eating at the Aquarium restaurant!

I have yet to have a bad meal, poor service or an unreasonable wait when dining at the Aquarium. They currently have menue specials available only in summer, such as Alaskan white salmon. The upkeep of the aquariums involves a team of marine biologists; I assume some of that overhead is included in the price of the food. They have educational programs for school children and individuals who wish to be a marine biologist for the day. They have a pastry chef and fabulous desserts; our waitress recommended that we return sometime for just dessert and coffee, certainly within most people's budget. Also they have wonderful appetizers, which with a beverage would allow a family to enjoy the tanks. On one occasion I shared a seafood combination with a relative and we both had plenty to eat. Go for lunch or on a week night. Don't forget your camera.

The aquarium tanks were quite impressive! The were many beautiful (and not so beautiful) sea creatures only inches away from you. The atmosphere was wonderful, especially for children. The food, on the other hand, left quite a bit to be desired. At first, I thought I was the only one with cold food. Before too long, I began to hear complaints from other tables, as well. The flavor was only OK. The service, well, it was just lousy! When I pay over $80 for three people, I expect my drinks to stay topped off. So much for that! The lemonade is "fresh" squeezed . . . so you don't get free refills. That didn't seem to matter much, because even my glass of Sprite stayed empty for at least 20 minutes. It was neat to see once, but I don't ever plan to go back!

Fantastic aquarium...very entertaining. Music was nice and low-key. Too many people around with screaming children for it to be taken seriously as an modestly upscale restaurant. Floor was dirty, especially under our table. Returned one bread plate because it was dirty before we used it. Ordered the Broiled Captain's Place, which was no bargain at $21.95. The shrimp was rubbery and still had a square shape from being frozen, the scallops were surprisingly good; the fish was of unknown origin. The stuffed crab probably was the biggest disappointment as it was mostly breading and very little crabmeat....a comparable item can be found at Captain D's or Long John Silver's for a whole lot less $$$. The Oyster Rockefeller was just that...a single oyster.

If you like the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga, then you'll like this place! Oddly enough, they have a lovely selection of seafood also a couple of chicken and rib eye entrees to choose from. And it was a bit costly: The tab for my family of 6 was over $100. That was probably still cheaper than driving to Chattanooga, paying entrance to the TN Aquarium and getting something to eat there. On a scale of 1-10, I'll give it an 8.5

I had the salmon, and it was outstanding! My boyfriend had the meatloaf (he's not a seafood fan) and his was terrific also. Our waitress was super great! She gave suggestions, was very prompt, friendly and overall terrific! The only thing was we had to wait too long (over 10 minutes) to get our check after we asked for it. There were ALOT of kids there and even though we were seated near the aquarium, there were lots of people around it the whole time. This was great & I can't wait to go again!

Very dissapointed have had better shrimp at captain d's for 3.00 dollars. Food was cold, unflavored and horribly overpriced. Made a special trip drove 200 miles to try worst meal for the price we have ever had. Go to a good aquarium in another city if want to see fish and dine elsewhere.

The best thing about thie place is the atmosphere. The auquariums are amazing and house some great tropical fish as well as sharks, rays, eels and various other coral life. The food is good, but nbot great and definitely not worth what they charge for it. It's highly overpriced. The service is below average. We were told it would be about and hour and fifteen minute wait, but were still waiting for a table after 2 hours. Luckily, they invested in good pagers that reach throughout the whole mall. I had tried to make reservations as soon as they had opened that day, but the reservations were already booked up. All in all, it was an ok place to eat. However, I doubt I'll be back very often.

That is where you think you are.
The food was wonderful and the surroundings are awesome. - The fish are everywhere and the waiters know what is in the tank and can tell you about it! The portions are big and tasty - well worth the money. Our server was not great but we don't think that we will hold that agains the place. Kid friendly and the kids stay entertained.
My husband got the chicken- it was OK but go for what the place is known for... seafood.
Be willing to wait- but they give you a pager that works through the whole mall and they even call you back early so if you are at the far end you still have time to get back.
