I brought my husband's car to Gary Matthew's for the 20 000 miles maintenance.
I went there because I am expecting quality... otherwise, I would have just brought his car to some shops that can also do car maintenance!
First, as a woman who had just arrived to USA, it was not so easy for me to understand the accent of the lady at the customer service. I tried to ask her to repeat her answer to my question 3 times but still didn't understand what she meant.
Anyway, that car undergone maintenance in Germany twice and it was always a good experience. Aside from the standard procedures, they always cleaned it thoroughly before they hand it back to us.... and you will really have the feeling that they checked your car because of their feedbacks.
Gary Matthew's DID NOT do those! I mean, our car is not so dirty anyway because we don't have children nor pets but we were expecting them to wash it somehow because we paid a lot of money for such a maintenance.
I was also quite skeptic because I asked them to check the allignment of the head light. The woman said that it would cost additional $30+... (can't remember) I agreed to pay that amount but at the end, they said they checked it for free.
Now I am thinking to bring hubby's car for inspection because I didn't have the impression that they really cared to look at the car. :(
All in all, I am not satisfied! I hope you had a better experience than I do because it is really a different feeling to know that your car had been thoroughly checked!

Avoid this place for repairs unless you are stranded like I was and have no choice. I drive an '95 Audi, broke down near Clarksville on way to South Carolina on 12/16. Had car towed to this dealership. At 4pm I was told that the alternator "S" belt had broken,it would be about $200.Tanya said they could get the repair done and get me back on the road by 6pm.Waited at dealership while car was being repaired. At 5:45pm Tanya told me they couldn't fix the car because another part was needed. It would have to be ordered and could not be delivered until the next day. The additional part/repair would be another $300.Unfortunatley I wasnt told the repair would not be completed until after the cancellation deadline for my hotel in SC so I was out $65 for the room.Oh well, that stuff happens. Tanya said she would notify me ASAP the next the morning with an update after the part was delivered. The next morning I asked about the car's status. She texted me back saying "2pm". I then asked SPECIFICALLY to clarify if the car would be ready at 2pm or if the part was to arrive at 2pm. It was important for me since I was getting a one way ride and would be stranded if car wasn't done.I did not want to make the 65 mile trip to Clarksville if car wasn't ready. At 12:45pm I sent a message saying I was departing. At 1:55pm I get a message asking me to call ASAP. I was 10 minutes away! I called Matthews VW and Tanya told me they had the wrong part and the correct part was in a warehouse in Florida. I asked her why she told me the car would be ready at 2pm? She said she thought NAPA would send the right part and blamed them. I told her that is why I asked her earlier that day to clarify if the car would be ready at 2pm or if the part would arrive at 2pm. She said the NAPA guys messed up, I said she messed up too and it was now gonna cost me another $50 to rent a car to get back home. All she had to do was say "I'm sorry I told you the car would be ready at 2pm, I jumped the gun and should have waited until we got the part delivered. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience"......That would have been nice, but that is not the way they do things at Garry Matthews VW. Heaven forbid anyone takes any responsibility. I do understand that parts can be hard to find for older cars, but don't say a car will be ready before a part arrives.Tanya said they should get the part in on 12/18 and the car would be ready on 12/19 or 12/21.I decided I would just wait to hear from them about the car. No word from Garry Matthews on 12/21, the day she said the car would be ready. On 12/22 I received a call saying the car was ready but they recommended the timing belt replaced and a new battery. While I was driving to pick up car,I called them about the battery. I wanted to know if the car would start or if it was holding a charge. The lady said she would check and call me right back. I drove another 40 minutes and she never called me back. I get to the dealership and they lady said she was too swamped to call me back and would check on my car now. She comes back in 5 minutes and informs me that the car will start now but they checked out the battery and it was no good. I asked how much to replace the battery and she said $197, I could buy the same battery for $89 at AutoZone. Also, I thought my bill would be around $500 based on what Tanya told me, but the final bill was $595.Not to mention the extra $54 I had to spend because Tanya told me bad information. Do you think Garry Matthews offered to knock any $ off the final bill,of course not!
However, my biggest complaint and concern is regarding the battery. They said the battery was shot and had to be replaced. Well it is now Jan 6th and it was 5 degrees last night and the battery is still going strong. I'm concerned that they deliberately mislead me about the battery in order to sell me a new one that I didn't need.
Sorry this review is so long. Obviously I'm disappointed with their customer service and how I was treated. This is just a heads up to potential customers, I hope you have a better experience than I did :(
