I am i dire need of a car I found Doug Justus web site and Lo and behold and walah cars that look very nice and cheap. So I look at the reviews and they are about 50/50 on good and bad. So I then go to see the BBB report and they dont belong but they have a A+ rating. So who knows what to believe. Right now they have several cars that anyone would be proud to own so who can help me out here
Do Not Buy a Car from this Car Lot or you will be sorry!!! My husband and I bought an SUV from Doug Justus and with in a month we had 4 major issues! Dangerous Issues that the dealer knew of when he sold it to us! We started smelling strong scents of gasoline inside the vehicle and when we took it to another dealer to have it looked at, we were told the car's gas tank or line had a major crack in it.
Furthermore the gas line was only being held on by one bolt--the rest had fallen off!!! The turbo on the car was also almost out. 2 months later we learned the transmission fluid had a crack and was leaking into the front axle! We Have spent more than $3000 dollars on a car we spent more than 14k for!! Could Never Ever RECOMMEND DOUG JUSTUS TO ANYONE! South Knoxville Residents BEWARE!!!! Keep driving right past his lot on John Sevier!!
This is not comment on the previous reviews. I am looking for a car and have searched through all kinds of dealerships. Thanks for the warnings. I have one more place to keep my money away from. THANK YOU FOR BEING SO BRAVE TO COMMENT. One or 2 bad comments out of 20....I could see...but this many....means something bad is occuring.
Well this was a few years ago (2005ish I believe) I bought a 1995 Nissan Maxima 5 speed. He let me test drive the car and was very pleasant. During the test drive the check engine light came on. I told him and he said that he would cover labor if I covered the part (A knock sensor) so I bought the car with cash. After ignoring my phone calls for about a week I decide just to put it on myself. Walah done, no big deal. I finally got ahold of him and asked if he would cover half of the parts cost since I put it in myself after not being able to reach him. He said no. Okay that's fine. The a/c went out the next day (slow leak) I filled it up and went about my business. I noticed there was some transmission fluid leaking, changed the seal and a week later the seal got redamaged (transmission issue) He said he would cover labor and again, did not return my phone calls for 3 weeks. During this time my temp tag had expired and I had still not received my title. Finally I head back down to his dealership and obtain my title along with my tag and noticed he had forged my signature with no power of attorney.
He is very shady and I do understand that it was a 10 year old vehicle BUT when you say you are going to do something and hide like a child that is no way to do business. My mom bought my brothers first car there, her car there, and I had bought one of my cars there. From that point on we quit going there.
Some business lessons: Do business right 9 out of 10 times, the one time you don't it ends a long strong foundation relationship. I wish him and his business the best and hope (it appears as well) He has changed back to his original ways.
We drove over 100 miles to there dealership. They have a great website that includes free history reports. The most difficult part was deciding what to buy. They have alot of cars. Never any pressure. They just let us choose our vehicle and never really tried to sale us anything. Thanks Brandon
Pros: Lots of cars
Cons: No onsite financing
WE JUST PURCHASED OUR SUV AND THEY HAD THE BEST PRICES THAT WE FOUND. VERY LAID BACK SALES TEAM. WILL RECOMMEND THANKS
Pros: EASY TO SHOP HERE
Cons: NO FINANCING
I bought a used Toyota. Next day check engine light on. Toyota dealer said it needed over 2000 in repairs. Dealer also said the computer was tripped to get light to go off prior to purchase. Who knows? Anyway, oil leak as well so another several hundred in repairs. Front tires were bad too, I had only checked rear tires.
If you buy a used car get a mechanic of your own to check it first. This business told me they had a mechanic check their cars, but if he did, it must have been to notice a computer needed to be reset so a customer wouldn't see a check engine light.
Buy cars from a reliable business.
Pros: Everyone Real Nice While You Buy
Cons: Car no good
Mr Justice helped me when I was down and he didn't have too. I was unemployed, a single parent to a 5 yr old, and with financial obligations to my child. My engine had just blown on my truck and I didn't have any money to fix or replace the vehicle, I was STUCK. I sent out an email to 4 major local dealerships and Doug Justice Auto seeking help with my vehicle situation. Mr Justice was the ONLY one that responded. Thanks to Mr. Justice he was able to sell my broken truck at auction and hand me a check for the money he received at auction. Mr Justice didn't have to respond to my email let alone take the opportunity to have my truck picked up at my house (his expense), sell my vehicle at auction and hand me a check for what he received at auction. I was fortunate to buy a vehicle from a private seller, the money I received wasn't much but I wasn't expecting anything from a p/u with a blown motor. So, to all you nay-sayers, check out Doug Justice Auto. He is a man with a Heart and of his word. Next time you read a negative review about Doug Justice Auto, ask yourself this, how many customers has he services through all these years and how many complaints do you see. Numbers don't lie. Mr Justice, from my daughter and I, Thank You! for being there when no one else cared (like the Major Dealerships in the area who only care about the almight dollar),
.
Pros: a man with integrity and honesty
Cons: none
Okay so you spend your hard earned money on a car that won't run properly within the first week of buying it. There is not a darn thing you can do about it but try and get if fixed continually until as we have experienced it just sits there while your child doesn't have her first car to drive anymore. I can guarantee their children have decent running and safe cars to drive. After a year and a half of trying to fix it we have given up. WE are not well off people like the car dealers so we have no more money to put into a lemon to get it fixed. Do not take the chance of buying your car here. Go somewhere else! I don't care what their personal review/reply says. They know what they are selling and they know if it is a lemon or not. Especially in our case when you are offering them cash! The salesman said he drove it every day to go get lunch and didn't have any problems with it . There is no way that it all of a sudden started messing up after my 17 year old daughter got the car. This car had problems and they knew it but they were greedy and wanted the cash. End of Story.
Pros: there are no pros in this situation
Cons: we were conned into buying a lemon
This is a response from Doug Justus Auto Center to a couple reviews posted on this site. We have sold 1,000 of vehicles and have a large base of repeat customers. We believe car buying should be simple and without sales pressure. Our website has 25 detailed pictures of each vehicle, price, free history report and detailed information about the car.
First only one of the negative reviews even purchased a vehicle from us and the other was a 15 year old $2500 vehicle in 2006. The two customers that wrote "defective vehicles" and " Buy at your own risk" forgot to state in their reviews that they wanted to purchase the vehicles that they referenced in there review. Both wanted a price that was below what we had in the vehicles and when we could not agree on price so I guess they felt the need to post a complaint.
We do sale our vehicles AS IS but we also spend $1,000's each year helping our customers after the sale. We try very hard to be fair and make our customers happy but just like in every business this is impossible with some customers.(usually not even buyers).
We have began an aggressive campaign to have all of our customers post to these review sites.
We spent the past week shopping around the knoxville area car dealership and ended up buying here. They were friendly and very helpful. They really never tried to push any vehicles on us. We were recommended by a friend who purchases all there vehicle from this dealership. We love our Audi and will also recommend this lot.
Pros: Lots of clean cars
Cons: No financing available at dealership
We Just purchased our Honda Accord from Doug Justus Auto Center and would recommend this lot to anyone looking for a nice used vehicle. We got a great price and was very happy with everone we dealt with there.
Pros: Large selection of cars
We purchased our Volvo last month that we found at Doug Justus website. The website was great and made shopping fo a used car much easier. Will definetly go to Doug Justus Center for our next car purchase
Pros: Best selection of volvo's around
Called and spoke with sales person for a week or so discussing a particular car. Was told it was "amazing" and a great car in great shape, that he "hadn't seen a car in this great shape ever." Told him that I would be driving a distance and having to get a hotel and to let me know if there was any issues with the car that keep from being as perfect as they stated, and was told "No". Needless to say, drove 5hrs and paid for a hotel only to find a car that had busted tail lights, broken dash, scratches all over, missing parts inside and out, warm blowing A/C, etc. The list was way long, and the car was far from perfect, much less great.
This place is a rip off and very untrusting. They cared less that they mislead me and wasted my time and money to get out here. This is what give used car sales people a bad name.
Terrible, stay away.
Pros: Ton of cars to look at
Cons: Misleading and don't care about the customer, just the sale
He had a car listed in craigslist for $4995 and when I asked for the best price he said $5500??? I said you have the car advertised in craigslist for $4995 He said the price went up due to putting new tires on the car yesterday.
Cons: Erratic Pricing
Just purchased 2002 Ford Explorer for $5,000. Great deal. Very Nice Guys to deal with. Thanks alot Kathy
Approximately a couple of weeks ago, my husband and I purchased what appeared to be a decent used SUV from Doug Justus Auto Center. Needless to say, we were shocked when the "check transmission" light came on on CHRISTMAS DAY. My husband managed to get the vehicle home, and to a shop the next day (since nothing is open on Christmas), hoping that the transmission just needed to be flushed, and new fluid put in. No such luck - the shop found metal slivers in the transmission fluid. The transmission will have to be rebuilt at a cost of $1,200-$1,500 (money we don't have, since we just bought the vehicle). My husband did try to check the transmission fluid before we bought it, only to find out it has a sealed, self-maintaining transmission, that the average person can't get into to check. The transmission problem was something they should've known about before they sold it, yet nothing about the transmission was ever mentioned to us. In buying a used vehicle, we didn't expect perfection...but I think any reasonable person would expect their "new-to-them" vehicle to last longer than a week and five days before something MAJOR (like the transmission) goes wrong with it!
After going from used car lot to used car lot in the south Knoxville area I found that Doug Justus had the best price for my buck, when it came to driving something pretty decent. I surveyed about a dozen used car lots up and down Chapman Highway and they all seemed to have over-priced cars, when it came to something nice. (i.e. 1998 models or later, vehicles) Many of them looked like lemons at first sight.
I think that Doug Justus is most definitly the cream of the crop car lot, here in south Knoxville.
Part of this I believe is because of thier remote location on Gov. John Sevier Highway, away from the main strip (Chapman Highway). I think that DJ is south Knoxville best kept secret, when it comes to used car lots, especailly thier SUVs.
Oh! The part about being ripped off! Well, Doug Justus has posted in big bold letters (just like all the other lemon lots) SOLD-AS-IS No Warrenty! So, if you don't test and inspect for yourself, don't witch about it later when or if something goes wrong! They encourage you to test it. I took that time and took my SUV to a back yard mecahnic and he assured me that it was a decent deal.
Pros: Great Selection of Vehicles for Reasonable Price
Cons: No Warrenty SOLD-AS-IS
We purchased our Honda here and love it. They had several to pic from. The cars were clean and had all the info clearly marked on the car. Not you typical used car dealership
Great car!!! Would recommend this dealership to anyone looking for a reasonable priced import car. Everything went very smooth.
They had the best selection of clean, well priced used cars of any lot we visited.Great people to work with
There website and selection of cars is great. Prices are marked on the cars and the salesman was very helpful.
I reported this dealership ..check it out ..even after several attmepts he never even responded to the complaint .. I'm currently working to file a criminal complaint against him as he forged my name on the registration and title to this vehicle even though I have proof I paid him in full! This was his way of retaliating against me for trying to make him take responsibility for his misrepresentaion and forgery. Don't buy a car from him - he is deceiving and dishonest as all get out! WE GOT BURNED
Pros: None
Cons: Everything about this place is a con!
This dealer is a RIP OFF - he is dishonest and practices poor business. He lies and acts arrogant when you call him on it
