Oak Bend Medical Ctr On Hwy 90 Is Old and Falling Apart.
by Deb M.
OakBend on Hwy 90 is a Horrible Hospital Falling apart, with the Staff just as bad. I went into the Er at 7.30a with pains in my chest during breathing; The Dr. and Nurse took very mininimal efforts to take care of my pain, which could still be felt after their efforts... Being in a hospital that have everything it takes to put one out of their pain.. I was finally admited to a room at 3:45p. What a horrible experience, It was like the Charge Nurse thought she was a Drill Sergent. The other nurse threw a plactic bag with 2 cups for water after I asked for the second time. I let it be known I needed something for pain and she told me all the Dr. ordered was Tylenol, 2 antibiotics via mouth, and breathing treatments. My Dr was out on Family emergency, so I had her fill in Dr. It took me hours to finally get something for pain. I had to beg and scream for the little dosage she tried to pacify me with. They then moved me to a room with no way to turn ANY light on from within the bed. I thought the day nurse was going to be nice, but he turned out to be other than; I will say that the night nurse, especially on Sat was Tops in my book. Are they letting this one go to hell because of the other two locations. 59/Williams Trace, and GrandPkwy and Morton Road. What a shame, it is right at the entrance on my subdivision. It looks like Memorial Hermann Sugarland for me. I will be writting Sue McCarty, and Judy Jones. As far as those who visited in 2006, alot can change in 3 years.... Try them again, see what you get. I wish I had read the review before I went there.

Oak Bend Medical Ctr is HORRIBLE!
by amber t.
I had to have my gall bladder removed and was taken to their ER during one of my attacks. They left me sitting in excruciating pain in the waiting room before finally seeing me. By the time a Dr. came in the attack was nearly over. I was admitted after the onset of a 2nd attack & told the surgeon would see me between 4-6pm. He came in at 12:50am! I wasn't allowed to eat for 2 days while they tried to "squeeze me in" to their operating schedule and then the Dr was over an hour late once I got on the schedule! He waltzed in w/ Starbuck's like he was a movie star and I was an inconvenience to him. The nurses were terrible. I was left in pain for hours after my operation despite my pages to the nurse's station. When I was finally given pain meds I asked for anti-nausea meds as well and was told the nurse would be right back w/ them...she came back 3hrs later AFTER I vomited twice! This is the worst hospital EVER!!!

Not emergent for Oak Bend
by Keisha W.
My niece was a pt here at Oak through the ER and she did not have insurance and was turned away. She was coming for heavy bleeding for over a week and she was very weak. We called Memorial Herman Sugar land in the parking lot of Oak Bend and they told us to bring her right away. When they saw her it was a surprised that she had been turned away. She was pale and her blood count was 4.She spent 4 days there and did not have surgery. If she had just waited to go to the clinic like Oak Bend told her i really dobt she could have made it. Like Marvin Zindler says "It is hell to be poor"

TERRIBLE!
by Kay S.
The service received from Oak Bend was terrible from the ER to the floor my mother was moved to. My mother was told she was going to admitted to the hospital we asked why and no answer was given, the Dr. finally came in and we were asked what did we need to know (Dr.Randolph).My mother's BP was to be taken and the stupid nurse came in and tapped her on the arm where her IV was placed.I have more but by now you get the picture about what service you will receive form Oak Bend.

I was very pleasantly surprised when my husband was a patient at Oak Bend. He was brought in by ambulance to the emergency center and was then admitted to a room. This is a smaller community hospital, and I was not sure what level of care to expect. He actually received very excellent care, and I was very relieved and pleased. He was actually moved later to a rehabilitation facility that turned out to be a great referral, so we were grateful to Oak Bend for that guidance as well.
PROS: Excellent emergency room and hospital care close to home

I had to have outpatient surgery done here and was skeptical at first. I had heard good and bad stories about the hospital in the past. However, I must say from my own experiences it was nothing but good all the way. From the pre-check in and tests to end result-no problems. I had several different tests and workups done prior to the surgery and each department was professional and efficient. The outpatient surgery department was friendly, very skilled in their profession, and wonderful to the patients. What ever you needed, they took care of-they were ALL top quality professionals.
