Decent Buffet
For non-vegetarians, the restaurant has quite a few choices in meat dishes, but as for vegetarians, they were about three to four dishes to choose from in the buffet. The saag paneer was pretty good, nothing remarkable though.

Good food, High price
In my opinion, the price for the buffet was more than I was planning on spending. But the food was absolutely delicious. I particularly enjoyed their naan; it was very fresh and cooked well. The staff is always friendly and they're very focused to make your visit to the restaurant as pleasant as possible.
PROS:
CONS: Expensive

Best place for Quality Indian food at a reasonable price
I discovered this place by accident. I now, cannot stop visiting this place. I was hungry, looking for a place to eat, in the Rice Village, and I saw this restaurant that was situated across Le peep. I walked in and the aroma of spices hit me. Needless to say, I had a great meal. The food was fresh and the prices very moderate. The staff was attentive, yet not overbearing. The buffet has great variety of fresh fruits, salad, dessert and of course the mouth-watering curries.
Strongly recommend this place. Great meal at affordable prices.
PROS: Great authentic Indian Cuisine at reasonable prices
CONS: Parking can be challenging-yet well worth the effort

The food is excellent
The people are courteous, and the food is excellent. During lunch time it s a buffet which I like better. The price is average and well worth it. $25 for 2
PROS:
CONS: Parking is hard unless you get valet across the street from them.

Thank you please!
Shiva is our new favorite Houston Indian restaurant. We love the food, the quality of the meat, the atmosphere, the staff - especially the Indian man behind the glass cooking naans and meat in the tandoor!
We dont love the decor, but we put up with it becase everything else is so great!
This place rocks!

slow service
ate here for mother's day. the restaurant was only half full but service was terribly slow. host (owner?) was not very friendly and seemed disinterested, only wanted to take our order as fast as possible. it took 30-40 minutes for our food to arrive. parties that had arrived before us (and ordered more) had their food before us. it was a little puzzling. i have to question the cleanliness of this restaurant, as my dining guest noticed the host picking his nose in front of customers! now to the food: we ordered the 'chef's recommendations' plates: raj ke pasand and shiva's delight. they are both all inclusive meals with naan (bread), yogurt, daal, palak paneer. the shiva delight plate is a vegetarian plate and included a samosa and some type of veggie curry. the raj ke pasand included a piece of tandoori chicken and a bowl of chicken tikka masala. both plates came with desert (rice in sweet milk). total came to $26 without tip. we didn't have drinks. the food was average although the chicken tikka masala and the fresh buttery hot nans were high points. would not go again, i am a stickler for cleanliness and timely service.
Pros: hot naan, hot after dinner towels
Cons: cleanliness, service

Great Food
This is a great place to eat. We love indian food. The atmosphere is nice, service OK, but the food is great.
If you like indian food, try this place. We have eaten indian food at al places in Houston, and this is our favorite.
Pros: Food

Decent buffet for the price
I am from out of state and went to Shiva recently for the lunch buffet based on reviews I read in this site. I have to say that the food here is average - nothing out of the ordinary. I liked the bread they served but was disappointed that there were no appetizers in the buffet. If you are in the area, i think for the price the lunch buffet is decent
Pros: Good bread and deserts
Cons: No appetizer in lunch buffet

Decent Food at Decent Prices
The service was good and food was decent, however they did not have the dishes I desired. Overall it would be a decent place to go if I really craved insian food, however it wouldnt be my top choice unless they added a few tempting dishes to their menu such as Palak Paneer, Malai Kofta, and Paneer Pasanda.
Pros: Those hot towels they give at the end
Cons: Not that many dishes that I prefer
