I have been coming to German Motor Works for almost 11 years now. I have fixed both my older and newer BMWs as well as my wife's newer Mercedes Benz at German Motor Works. These guys are truly excellent, dedicated, honest and have always taken care of all our cars whether it was an engine rebuild, transmission rebuild, brake work, normal maintenance and heavy duty tuneups/inspections. Joe is absolutely a fantastic owner and always puts the customers concerns as number one priority which is why he has had so many long time and loyal customers. Tony and Mike are absolutely great also and have always taken care of the most complicated jobs on my cars and in a very timely fashion. In the almost 10 years I have brought my cars to German Motor Works, they have always invariably correctly diagnosed the problems and would always give me a very accurate estimate beforehand. I have saved a huge amount of money, time and effort by bringing my cars to German Motor Works instead of to any other shop or dealership. \r\n

I recently purchased a Z3 Roadster from an private seller. This was my first endeavor with a BMW vehicle. Within a week, I heard an awful squeaking noise coming from the rear shocks / suspension. After hours of internet research, I feared the worst. I took it Joe at German Motor Work. He inspected the suspension and found nothing wrong. He said I could replace the bushings, but it would be an unnecessary expense at this time. He put a special silicon grease on all of my bushings and eliminate the noise. He also said that if it started squeaking again to just bring it in. All of this was done at no cost to me (although I did agree to some other work that was needed / due). I found his prices to be very fair. I would definately recommend them to any potential customer.

KD,\r\n\r\nI have had the pleasure and experience to do business with German Motor Works. I currently own a 2002 BMW 530I (Silver Bullet). Joe the owner took over the business a couple of years ago and since then his business has continued to do quite well, primarily because Joe and his staff have been good to me whenever I have brought my car in for any type of service. Whether it's something major or simple they always have been very helpful and have done a good job with their work. Customers recognize good work and good people; it's a pleasure to know that whenever you bring your car in for any maintenance or repair they simply got your back. I would not take my car to any other place in town except German Motor Works. I enjoy the personal relationship that has grown over the years with Joe, Trica and Tony ~ one of the lead technicians, as well as the other staff members. I look forward to continue doing business with German Motor Works!!!!!! They are Awesome!!!!!!\r\n\r\n

Unfortunately, with too long an experience with this business, I have to be very honest. Joe, the owner is an absolute pathological liar. Two times I brought the car in for an oil change and two times I left with the air conditioning broken. Naive as I am, I paid them to fix the air condition then they said the water pump and radiator where leaking. Then after another oil change the air conditioning didn't work again and Joe said it was because the car was over heating and system shut down. I was shocked at such a stupid answer. When I called them on it they reconnected a wire and the air condition has been fine ever since. The car wasn't over heating at all. To this day the overflow tank is full and I haven't needed to add water. My daughter bought a car they recovered on a lean and Joe swore up and down the car was perfect with no issues. After buying the car we put another $3,000 into repairs to make it work. Before selling the car they put in new breaks but not new rotters which cause wear. They break as they fix. No doubt about it. These guys are subtle in the criminal activity they perpetrate but it's there for sure.

I have been using German Motor Works for over a year now and thats the only place I have my BMW serviced. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. They not only tell you what needs to be replaced or repaired on your car, but why it needs servicing. One day I was in a hurry and needed tires asap. The shop was very busy at the time so Joe sent me directly to the person whom he was buying the tires from so I wouldnt have to wait longer at his shop for the tires to be transferred over. Hes certainly more interested in repeat customers than making a little extra money at the customers inconvenience. Another time I had gotten bad gas and didnt know it. Joe had me bring the car in a couple of different times as the engine started cutting in and out. He couldnt find anything wrong with it either time. He looked at the car and ran diagnostics and still nothing. He said he didnt want to start replacing parts until he could identify precisely what the problem was. We eventually arrived at the conclusion it was bad gas. He poured an engine additive into the car and I could immediately tell the difference. I never experienced engine problems after the additive. Joe could have wasted my money replacing parts before identifying the root cause, but instead he stuck with it until the root cause was identified and then he easily rectified it. Ive also had oil changes and brake work performed at German Motor Works. I also like their Saturday hours too so I dont have to miss work to have my car serviced. Im pleased with the level of service I get and I recommend their service to anyone with a BMW or Mercedes!

Nice people only goes so far... when hired to put in motor mounts and rear suspension accumulators on my 1996 S500 Benz, they did such a horrible job it cost my several hundred to have the work redone at another shop! They ruined one accumulator, wedged the motor mounts in improperly, and bent part of the lower shield mount so they could try to fit in another motor mount - something previous shops never had to do. Then to top it off, they did NOT replace my $50 lower motor cover and kept all the parts! It sounds like they knw what they are doing with BMWs but Mercedes Benz owners avoid this place at all costs!

Be leery of this shop. After my girlfriend's car had work done at German Motor Works, I had to take the car to the dealership for an unrelated problem. Found out the previous repair German Motor Works did was done incorrectly and with cheap parts. I don't recommend this shop.

I have been going to German Motor Works for almost 9 years now and they are truly exceptionally good and honest and trustworthy, not to mention their very reasonable pricing. I have done a lot of major work including transmission and engine rebuilds on my 7 series BMW with them and they are truly excellent. Special thanks to the owner Joe and all the guys who work over there who have taken care of my car for so many years. I used to take my car to the dealership until 2002 but my car would never be properly fixed over there ( not to mention the ridiculous labor rates over there) and once I found out about German Motor Works, I have never looked back. Thanks so much to German Motor Works.

I am glad I ran into review s of German Auto works here on citysearch. The experience I had getting my ML320 serviced here was EXCELLENT from every aspect.\r\n\r\nThe mechanics here are very knowledgeable, professional and have ""Do it Right first time"" attitude.\r\n\r\n I had pretty nasty and hard to diagnose issue with my transmission and the diagnosis and estimate I received from other shops was not only bad but grossly incorrect. \r\n\r\nJoe and Scott at German Motor works were very professional in understanding symptoms that I described and went on their way to run diagnosis on ML320. By end of day, I had my ML320 working perfectly and not only it was good diagnostics but also good value.\r\n\r\nIf you are in Dallas area, I would not to go to any other shop. Since this place is liked by many existing happy clients, I would say that you have to factor in a day for repair but again if I know I am getting good service, it's worth the wait.\r\n\r\nAgain Thank You mechanics and owner at German Motor Works for working with all your heart to give ur clients the BEST!

I recently sold a very nice mercedes 190E to a friend. Six months later he lost a radiator hose and ended up blowing the head gasket. We called them because they were close to our house. The estimate that they gave was $350 parts (which is fair) $500 for machine work (which is crazy, the highest estimate for machine work was 95.00) The real crazy part was they wanted $3500 for labor. At their 87.50 labor rate that means it would take them forty hours to complete. I lost all confidence then. The MB dealership did the work for 1850.00. It was dropped off on tuesday and picked-up on friday. I have been turning wrenchs on german cars my whole life. That is at most an eight hour job.

I recently needed some work done on my 97 328is. Seeing how this shop was closest to my house, I decided to give it a shot, at $87.50 per hour they would fix it which the closest BMW dealer normaly charges anywere from $100 ph to $120ph. The service was fast, friendly, and communication was always part of their priority. I've done recent simple work on my car, and beeing a novice home mechanic I was impressed by their work. One thing I recommend to everyone reading this review, is to pricematch all parts before you agree to replace the parts with the shop, that way you save money, always ask what parts are going to be replaced, and look for cheaper prices, for the reason that many shops such as this will boost up the price to even $150 extra than what you would normaly pay for an ""original factory part"" or even an oftermarket.

I rated GMW as high as I could two years ago, and have been taking my 1997 BMW 740i to them ever since.\r\n\r\nIf there were 6 or 7 stars available, it wouldn't be enough. I travel very frequently, and they coordinate getting my car to the audio and body shop places when necessary so that I don't have to. Even though they don't do the audio or body work themselves, they handle all of the arrangements and the transporting of my car from place to place, and take my payment over the phone. All I have to do is pick it up. \r\n\r\nThey negotiate very fair rates on my behalf for anyone else who does additional work, and have always been fair in what they have charged me. They even throw in a few extra little surprises because they care about giving me my car back fully operational, as if it was their own.\r\n\r\nI can't say enough about how much I trust and rely on them, and how much they care. Thanks Scott, Tricia and Joe.\r\n\r\nChristine H. - Rockwall

I relocated to Dallas with my 328Ci. Scott and Carty at German Motor Works have worked on my BMW ever since. They work mainly on BMW and Mercedes. Carty is a certified Master BMW technician and knows BMW's inside and out. You will pay about 1/2 price for work done to you car when compared to the BMW dealers in town. They are equipped to do all the mechanical work that your BMW needs. They came recommended from a BMW website forum and I have been going to them for 3 years now. I would highly recommend that you trust your car with them.

Wilner states the motor redesigned new-from-scratch fits under the XC90's hood because it's a 60-degree all-aluminum design with a reversed-bank offset and a two-stage cam timing chain and direct-mounted accessories. A counter-rotating-balance shaft keeps the cylinders chugging smoothly under the same hood that usually houses the 208-horsepower, 2.5-liter turbo inline-five or the 268-horsepower, 2.9-liter twin-turbo inline T6. The Yamaha makes 311 horsepower and 325 pound-feet--just four horses short of the X5 4.4i V-8, with an extra pound-foot of torque. Volvo also boasts the first Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle II status in a gas V-8 and engine packaging that maintains the XC90's exemplary 35-mph head-on and 40-mph offset-crash properties. The V-8 has a 1250-rpm idle at cold start for a lean air/fuel mixture, and it settles in at 675 rpm when warmed.
