Planet Pizza has re-opened and is better than before!!!

by Megan S.

Planet Pizza has re-opened and it looks great!!! The new owners have completely remodeled the place with bright, colorful murals painted on the walls, giving the facility a wonderful re-vamped look!

I took my children there to play and was told that NONE of the old coupons work (including the one posted above-which I printed out and brought to use). The only acceptable one is a $2 off general admission coupon found in the Dallas Child Magazine. They did take out the flying jet ride and replaced it with a build-a-bear like station called animal land; this is an extra cost from the unlimited stamp.

New rules are SOCKS MUST be worn while the kids are playing in the soft play/jungle gym area, and the children need to be signed in under a waiver (found at the registers).

They also changed their hours to Monday-Thursday 11-8, Friday & Saturday 10-9, and Sunday 12-7.

The new website is:

Good deal if you get half price, some great food deals

by Richard H.

I wasn't sure what to expect so I'll tell you what they have.
5 carnival style rides. Bumper boats, a big boat that swings, planes that spin around and go up and down, teacup style ride that seats kids on either side (not shaped like a tea cup), and a small roller coaster.

The play area has the giant tubes that they can crawl through (a very large network of them) with 2 twisted slides, a balance beam, various netted and windowed rooms, an arch that is kind of like a mini slide on each side (not very steep). The whole network of tubes is probably at least 30' x 15' or more. There is a padded incline on one side to enter, and staggered shelves on the other side. Under it is a trampoline with balls (like a ball pit but only one layer of balls). The rest under it is padded foam squares with a rope that slides across a track, hanging bags (like skinny, long punching bags) and I think most of the rest was just open space to run around.
On the side of that play area is an area for under 2 years old with 2 small playschool style plastic houses in an area that is maybe 12' x 9'. It also has giant padded building blocks (as in 1' to 2' across for a block).

Thats what you get free with the unlimited play. Full price seems to much for this but half price deals seem common (the 09 entertainer happenings coupon book has 2 b1g1 free), and at half price, its an excellent deal.

There is one bad thing. They have various arcade and ticket producing games. Its kind of like chucky cheese but 1/10th as many games. Many of the games are very old (mrs packman, galaga, tenken, all more than 20 years old). Many of the games are 2 tokens so 50 cents a shot. The small kids basket ball game lasted about 10 seconds. They could get expensive very fast, and if you paid full price for the rides and play area on top of that, it a major ripoff. You know your kids are going to want to play the coin operated games too. If the games were cheaper (maybe some tokens included with the unlimited play), it might be worth the full price.

As far as old and dirty, it looked clean to me. There were repair issues (one toilet covered over and a hole in the floor covered with cardboard). The play area looked clean, and wasn't in disrepair, but looked repaired (duck tape on the trampoline, 2 of the bags on the ramp to the tubes flattened (missing some stuffing) and taped, spots in the net for the ball pit had new net woven onto the old to cover holes. It did look safe though.

The food
there are some very good prices and some that are high. 12$ isn't bad for a medium pizza, and the pizza was good (tasted like a fresh made crust, enough cheese and toppings), but it was closer to a small in size so a bit expensive. Individual drinks were very high, though available very cheap in combos and refills on small drinks were 25 cents (even though their online menu says 50 cents). The pitchers might be a much better deal.
Most of the rest of the food was very cheap. chicken nuggets for 2.25 (combo for 4$ with drink and tater tots so the drink comes to 40 cents). portions were good on the combo too. fries for 1.29, hot dogs etc for 1.50.

No one greeted me either. They didn't approach me ever to see if I needed something, but if I approached them, they were incredibly friendly, and very helpful. Its was a bunch of teenagers working there (I only saw 1 older person, maybe in his 20's). I would rate the customer service as good, but would hate to go there on a busy weekend (then again, I'll never step foot in a chucky cheese on the weekend either).
Saftey
the front doors are the automatic sliding kind. They were turned off and there were signs to slide the doors your self. no one seemed to be watching the doors, though when they were left open once, I saw someone rush over and close them. my 2 year old was able to open the gate on one of the rides and the rides were not attended unless someone wanted to ride them (there was 1-2 people for all 5 rides at any given time). It was a very slow weekday so there were only a few people though.
I would not let young children run free, unwatched in here. Then again, I NEVER let my children go unwatched (not at age 2 and 3 anyway).
I'll give it 4 stars, because I paid half price and despite the issues, its only 4$ (I would only give it 2 if I paid full price), and there is a selection of cheap, good food available.

If they had a little larger pizza, cheaper single drinks, and gave tokens with the pass or had cheaper games, this place could be a good value, even at full price. Chucky cheese is 25 cents for any game, but you can get a 15$ card with coupons (always available if you sign up online) that makes it 15 cents a game. They need something like that on the games. I'll certainly go back at half price, but I doubt I would go back at full price.

A good time for all!

by cathy s.

I went last week on Friday (after Christmas) and had a marvelous time with my three kids and my brother who was in town with his wife and three kids! We used the weekday coupon (B1G1 - great deal and were even given a discount for the little ones <2 years!!!) The place was clean and paint was new and bright! The bathroom looked and smelled clean! A pleasant surprise from other reviews I'd seen from a while back! The pizza was decent - served hot!- and reasonably priced. The pitcher was the way to go for drinks (one pitcher fed all six kids and me and pitcher refills were only two dollars!) The kids (ages 2-7) had a blast- something for everyone- and we the parents/ grandparents were able to keep watch and play cards ourselves at one of the tables. It was not crowded (due to holiday time, I suppose) so we were lucky! The staff was friendly and welcoming! It was a refreshing change from CEC which seems to focus more on video games. It basically has all the ride attractions in the kiddie area of Six Flags for a fraction of the cost! Drawback for some may be that some of the videogames/ token activities were out of order. We didn't miss them with our group of younger kids who were occupied with the rides and soft play area above all else. We'll be back!

It's for the kids people

by mindy c.

It is what it is, an indoor playground for kids. And for that, it was great! You cannot expect the Ritz, but it was clean and the staff was friendly. We went on a Tues. night and it was perfect. I personally would never step foot in a place like that on a Sat., go on a weekday. Have fun!

unfriendly staff

by Libby C.

We got there and were not greeted at all even though there were no less then 6 people standing behind the counter doing nothing. The rides were very unorganized. The attendants did not insure that there was any order in the lines, and my daughter constantly got pushed aside and cut in front of. Most of the arcade games were broken. We thought that since this was a small family owned business that it would be better the chuck e cheeses - it was not and we will go there in the future.

New Owners made it GREAT again!

by Virginia S.

I've hosted four birthday parties at Planet Pizza, and I've taken my kids to countless more. What a great neighborhood place. It had a couple of bad years, but new owners have bought the place and made it GREAT again. For little ones, this place can't be beat!

Excellent place to take the kids

by Umm Rabiya J. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,487

This pizza is located in Plano, TX. and with the amusement style rides and excellent tasting pizza, this is a sure win win situation. The children will love the rides and everyone loves the pizza.

a little cleaner

by Christine L.

We have come here a couple times a year for 6 years. I think there is new ownership and it seems cleaner, there is hand sanitizer by the condiments now. The restrooms were the cleanest I had seen them but also we were there first thing in the morning. The staff is still not super smiling friendly, but as they are all teenagers working minim. wage what can you expect? The Wed special is NO LONGER in effect when we went...Disappointed in that. Anyways I will come back till my youngest outgrows it but will look for coupons first.

Bring your hand sanditizer

by Stacey W. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 12,138

My 4 year old has been to a birthday party and field trip at Planet Pizza. It's sorta a hole-in-wall type of place. They don't have any type of decor. It's just a few rides and arcades thrown into a space. The pizza wasn't the best. Everything seems old and dirty. Not the friendlist staff. There is a small play area in the back. I wonder if they ever clean that? Bathrooms were a bit icky.

PROS: fun rides/games for kiddos
CONS: dirty, ok pizza

This place is totally different from you average pizza places that you have been to before. This place kind of reminds me of Pistol Pete's Pizza. Good prices and ok pizza.

An Indoor Carnival for Kids

by Vickie H. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 504

All the joy of the state fair has been captured and brought indoors at Planet Pizza. Spinning tubs twirl beside bumper cars and a small roller coaster. A pirate ship swings kids back and forth, ferrying giggling kids toward the ceiling, while video games clamor and whistle as high scores are reached. Add a soft play ball pit and stir in a bit of pizza, and you have a recipe for family fun in an indoor haven.

PROS: Indoor, affordable all-you-can-ride passes available
CONS: Some equipment is tired and faded

Like Dirt and Frowny People?

by Catherine M.

This business attracts younger children who won't mind the dirty feel of the place while they ride the rides. There is no security in place. The doors open and close as people come and go. Children can easily walk out if their parents/care taker bats an eye. They have specials that make their play area not that expensive. (Wacky Wednesdays?) They also have coupons in the Dallas Child magazine. Glad my kids have outgrown this.

PROS: different, coupons/specials offset price
CONS: dirty, lacks security

Not your usual pizza and games party

by Meryl E. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,355

Planet Pizza is different from the other pizza party places because instead of video games (it does have some, but not as many) it has rides and a huge playground. The pizza was good and its staff takes care of everything. The crowds aren't as bad as the "chain" that everyone goes to. Its location is near 75, which is far for those living in West Plano, Dallas, and Frisco.

PROS: Rides, playground, less crowded
CONS: Location
