I had a haircut today and I feel GREAT! Keelan is a genius and a true artist!
I was quite nervous to try a short haircut since my hair were always very long but Keelan did a wonderful job!
The staff is very nice and welcoming and I love the ambiance of the place. They always play cool songs!
If you are up to a new haircut, go for Keelan: you won't regret it.

You know how you see those makeover shows on tv, where the subject goes to a stylist, who listens to what the client wants, gives some advice, and then works magic? Well, up until now I didn't know if there was a stylist like that in Houston. I called Riaro after reading the salon's reviews, and I was greeted by a fantastic receptionist. She listened, told me who it sounded like I should meet with first, and answered all of my questions- I felt like I was talking to a friend. I arrived , and I'll admit it's pretty sparse- one of the negative reviews gripes about the setting, and I can understand that it's one that wouldn't appeal to everyone, but I wasn't there to look at pretty rooms.
I met Keelan and I was surprised by how "normal" he was- very down to earth, friendly, warm, but not over the top. We talked a lot, and he was really sweet. The most significant thing I noticed, however, was that he was really in to his work. I could see his mind working out how he was going to cut my hair, and I could also see that he was excited about bringing his vision to life. I learned that his interests in styling hair are genuine, and he is a true professional.
The end result was the best haircut I have ever had in my life. It looked great, got tons of compliments, and looks good two months later despite the fact that it involved a lot of shaping. I've had other stylists do what they called "layering" to my hair, but after seeing his end result, it turns out hat Keelan was right when he said it would look good when he did it his way.
My only fear is that Houston will eventually become to boring to him and we'll lose him to a cooler more fashion-forward locale- that would be a shame!
I live over an hour away, and I fully intend to go back to Riaro and Keelan for my future hair cuts.
As far as the negative reviews of this location go, I want to reassure any of you that both Keelan and Riaro are quite competent, professional, and worthy of your giving them a try!

Pros: True professionals who know what they are doing and are into style
Cons: First-timers may be intimidated by the "cool" setting- Don't be!

I have been going to Riaro's for three years now and I must say I have experienced nothing but first class service there. Keelan has been cutting my hair since my first visit and I can't say enough about him. I am in a band and sometimes need some out of the ordinary styles and colors and he is a whiz at whatever I throw at him. Over the time I have been working with him we have gone from buzz cuts to shoulder length and everywhere in between, as well as highlighs, colors, and even the Chi Chemical relaxer. He knows it all!!! They really take the time to find out what you want and make it happen. I recommend them to all my family and friends.

I have been going to Jillena for about 4 1/2 years now. I found her from a friend. Before I was going to her, I was not happy at all! The stylist never listened to what I wanted, and bleached my hair out so much, it was breaking off. The first time I went to Jillena, She told me what style and color would look good with my skin and face. I just let her do whatever she wanted. It turned out great! Ever since I ve been going to her my hair has been in great condition, Very shiny and soft, and great color. The haircuts she gives me just fall into place, very easy for me to style when i m in a hurry. Overall I ve been very happy with my hair. The salon is a great place to visit!

This salon has a wonderful, relaxed feeling and everyone is super nice. Keelan is a genius with both cutting and color! My hair has never looked this good or been this easy to style. In fact, I'm going to be moving an hour away soon and have every intention of driving in once a month to get it done. I highly recommend Riaro and Keelan
