Ok I'm not a gear head and so usually hate going to bike shops b/c they sense you aren't a bike freak and usually snub you for it - these guys were so awesome and really helped me out alot - they dont pressure you to buy a bunch of stuff you're not sure you need etc. They don't knock your choices - which yes I've experienced often - (won't name names but an employee at a large local shop once knocked the fact that I didn't have a yakima car hitch, not cool)

Anyway I ended up changing my mind about the bike I bought and took it back the next day to trade it out and they were more than cool about it - I love this place!

Pros: Great service - local feel - not intimidating

Cons: Do have a smaller selection but great quality of collection

No offense to the previous reviewers, but I did not have pleasant experience with Clown Dog Bikes. My friend & I took our bikes there for repair. Two common problems- replacing a derailer on one and a dislodging and installing a chain guide on the other. The bikes are not the best, cheaper department store bikes, but hey, I'm a student & a novice to biking....

Anyway, the repair on the derialer took more than 2 weeks to complete, and within a week both bikes were broken again.

My pedal flew off in mid-ride, because someone was too careless to replace the bolt to hold it on!

When I called about the repairs, the guy did not seem to want to help me.

I live 20 miles from Clown Dog, but took my bikes there because I read that they were fair and did good work. Now I know otherwise.

Pros: cheap service

Cons: holier-than-thou attitudes regarding bike brands

At Clown Dog Bikes, Bryce Holt - owner - doesn't clown around. I didn't buy my bike from Clown's but I was in need of new tires... what I learned just by talking to Bryce for less than half an hour would have taken me months to learn. The price of the tires were much lower than other shops and I noticed that the bikes and equipment were as well - plus, the bike was ready for pick up on the same day! Aside from bike knowledge, Bryce is a straight up honest guy - I will certainly buy my next bike from Clown's and I suggest you stop by and visit - you won't regret it.

Pros: Personal service is second to none, great advice, won't push to sell, awesome prices.

Cons: If you're looking to test ride an expensive bike, go elsewhere, but Clown's can order you anything you need.

I bought a bike from these guys which I found elsewhere listed for more than $100 more than what I paid at Clowndog. These guys also included free tune-ups for the first 6 months. My bike is in great condition thanks to these guys.
