Annunciation Catholic Church is Tranquill
by Aida G.
One of the last churches with mass starting at 6am in Houston, I am a parishoner who has seen so many changes in the last 20yrs(and i've been attending since 1984). I try to attend as much as I can. Very Peaceful and Quite. Need just a little repair on the inside since the last hurrican but all in all a great place to see while in downtown. Also dress in proper attire since they are strict with dress code standards; i.e. no short-shorts and or shoulder shrap tees or tube tops or flip-flops or just basically cover what you can. They will lend you some clothing if you ask nicely. Also I highly recommend going to the Novena of the Miraclous Medal after the 5:30pm mass on Sunday as well as the Expostion for Vocations, but that's after the 11:00 Novus Ordo Mass.

In response to the letter written by Tina A. (going to the Astro's game)
by Angie A.
In a kind response to Tina A. (person on vacation going to Astro's game. If instead you passed a wedding going to the Astro's game would you have felt the need to maybe put on something more appropriate for someones wedding? In going to Mass you are going to see Jesus, truly present in the Eucharist! If you are to dress appropriate for a wedding wouldn't you feel it necessary to dress even nicer or at least as nice as you would going to the wedding Feast where you meet Jesus face to face in the Eucharist? Respect for Jesus has been lost in the Catholic faith, unfortunately. With respect and reverence for Christ I always remember to pack my nicest dress when I go on vacation to wear on this Holy day for Jesus!
May God Bless you!

Last of the real Catholic Churches
by xavier L.
It is the last of the real Catholic Churches. As most Catholic churches are turned into modern theaters lacking true beauty, this Church stands as a true light in the darkness. IRINA AND VALERY NAGY were the painters in 1999 of the restored Orthodox church The Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. They say, "Today chaos reigns in visual art...In the Age of Antiquity and the Renaissance the art of painting reached its peak of perfection in form. It cannot be improved upon, and there is probably no sense in trying." The Russian faith has survived communism. Out of respect, all Russians dress appropriately in church. It is sad that in America, the spirit of rebellious communism prevails in some people who feel offended by Annunciation's sign that requests "no shorts". As Moses bowed before God and as the woman washed Jesus' feet with her tears, so we should at least dress our best and respect the church. It should be noted that Catholic's believe Jesus is always in church in the Blessed Sacrament. The beauty of the church reflects that.

Desturbed to say the least.....
by Tina A.
The out side of the church was very beautiful. The inside might have been IF we would have been allowed to enter. We were on vacation to Houston and decided to attend mass on Sunday before the Astro's game, but were turned away out front and told not to attend because of our attire. Sorry, but as a life long Catholic I was mortified that anyone should JUDGE someone's attire and ability to attend GOD'S house. I assure you that although we were not in a dress and suit - we were fully covered and on vacation trying to attend mass.

absolutely beautiful church
by deborah g.
I do not live near here, but choose to attend because this Church makesme feel so special and Holy. The inside of this amazing Church reminds me of the Churches I attended as a child, and love the communion rail. This is rare today to find. The marble, the choir loft, all are things of the past and what makes this a spectacular Church and makes me feel special when I attend Mass there.

Annunciation Catholic Church

Annunciation Catholic Church is our parish by choice, not by geographical location. Monsignor Golasinski personally instructed my husband in the Catholic faith for more than a year during his conversion, and my family members have received most of our sacraments at Annunciation. The number of daily and weekend Masses and most importantly, the availability of confession and reconciliation is very, very good. The priests' homilies are always pertinent and relevant, not just once-a-week "feel-good fluff," and the solemnity of the Mass is maintained at all times. I highly recommend anyone wishing to experience a Novus Ordo or Tridentine Mass (or just attend English Mass, as we do) to visit Annunciation. You might make it your church home, too.
