My rating of 1 star indicates the lack of a proper musical instrument for a church of this stature. This church could be a gem of a church with a suitable concert organ to make it sparkle and attract the attention it should be attracting!

Here is my take on ACC: Here we have an absolutely beautiful structure...historic if you will. Absolutely, probably the best of the period in design and appointments. Here in the down-town area with a glorious presence...from the outside and inside....BUT (that word again!) the one thing that keeps this church from being REALLY good is the sad fact that they have no principal musical instrument..none...not...nada!

With all of the musical instruments and musicians in the city capable of making this church sparkle with music and become a presence in Houston....nothing do they have. Now some of you will say that they have an organ in the balcony...but THAT organ is a joke. Hardly nothing plays, notes don't play, the pedals don't work, the console is a major disaster just waiting to fall on someone and break their bones!...held up with a 2x4 mind you!

Now here is the situation: Few want to have their wedding there because THERE IS NO ORGAN. Even if this poor excuse for an organ worked perfectly...it would still be just a whisper in the dark.

Here is my offer: We have in our brokerage, a contract to

liquidate 2 magnificent instruments. 1. An Aeolian Skinner 3 manual pipe organ. This organ is offered for free. Can you imagine. It is worth about $100,000 but the church is selling the property and that goes with it unless some church would like to have it. 2. We have a Rodgers digital 3 manual Concert organ that will do ANYTHING musically and it is available for a very small price compared to its price when purchased ($170,000).

NOW...is there anyone out there that would care to do something with one of these magnificent instruments to bring some glory to this Catholic Church.

Anyone can call me at 281-488-2055 to see, play, discuss and consider a donation, gift or get behind a project to secure one of these instruments that will put this church on the map and give it some reality in music.

My goodness this church could be on an equal with the brand new Catholic Cathedral! To let this pass and allow this wonderful church to go begging for an organ when there are two that are available for almost nothing, is sinful if anything would be.

Lets see what someone out there can do about this...some one who cares and has the interest to jump into a significant organ addition to this church that will become a musical ambassador to the city. I've done my part, you do yours...(you know who you are!) Call me. Anthony

Annunciation Catholic Church is such a wonderful parish! I feel so holy and at peace when I attend mass! Father Golasinski is such a awesome preist! You can tell that he is such a holy man. We have the upmost respect for him. Thank you to Father Golasinski! My wife and I had the honor of being married at Annunciation Parish back in 1996. Our son was baptized at Annunciation Parish in 1997. We love Annunciation Catholic Church! I invite you to attend mass to see for yourself how truly beautiful and holy Annunciation Catholic Church truly is!

Love this parish! I've been a parishoner here for more years than I can count. Of course the beauty and history of the church are what draw you in, but the beauty of the mass and the messages in the homilies are what keep you coming back. Being a parishoner and having to sit in the back because I have a young child, I appreciate this parishes strong stand on attire. I can't tell you how many times people have come into the parish with the intent of attending the Astros game right after the 11am mass dressed in some very revealing outfits. My husband and I often attend the games after mass and we bring a change of clothes for the game. We've never missed the start of a game because we took the time to change our clothes. Also, don't plan on parking for mass and then think you can leave your car in our lot or in front of the church while you go to the game...you'll get towed!

I am on my way this morning for part of an art project, and taking my mother with me, who is a life long catholic, all of us kids also went to catholic school. while not a practicioner of any religion, i also have respect for others' rules and request when attending THEIR event, whether it be an astros stradium or a church. Tina A... get a grip, grow up, stop being so selfish and respect others' wishes - as you would like those to respect yours, when they are invited into YOUR home.... ??? !!! save your preaching on how catholic you are, and put it into practice. ie...do you complain to your boss about your dress code at work, who pays your salary... i think not, coward....

One of the last churches with mass starting at 6am in Houston, I am a parishoner who has seen so many changes in the last 20yrs(and i've been attending since 1984). I try to attend as much as I can. Very Peaceful and Quite. Need just a little repair on the inside since the last hurrican but all in all a great place to see while in downtown. Also dress in proper attire since they are strict with dress code standards; i.e. no short-shorts and or shoulder shrap tees or tube tops or flip-flops or just basically cover what you can. They will lend you some clothing if you ask nicely. Also I highly recommend going to the Novena of the Miraclous Medal after the 5:30pm mass on Sunday as well as the Expostion for Vocations, but that's after the 11:00 Novus Ordo Mass.

In a kind response to Tina A. (person on vacation going to Astro's game. If instead you passed a wedding going to the Astro's game would you have felt the need to maybe put on something more appropriate for someones wedding? In going to Mass you are going to see Jesus, truly present in the Eucharist! If you are to dress appropriate for a wedding wouldn't you feel it necessary to dress even nicer or at least as nice as you would going to the wedding Feast where you meet Jesus face to face in the Eucharist? Respect for Jesus has been lost in the Catholic faith, unfortunately. With respect and reverence for Christ I always remember to pack my nicest dress when I go on vacation to wear on this Holy day for Jesus!
May God Bless you!

It is the last of the real Catholic Churches. As most Catholic churches are turned into modern theaters lacking true beauty, this Church stands as a true light in the darkness. IRINA AND VALERY NAGY were the painters in 1999 of the restored Orthodox church The Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. They say, "Today chaos reigns in visual art...In the Age of Antiquity and the Renaissance the art of painting reached its peak of perfection in form. It cannot be improved upon, and there is probably no sense in trying." The Russian faith has survived communism. Out of respect, all Russians dress appropriately in church. It is sad that in America, the spirit of rebellious communism prevails in some people who feel offended by Annunciation's sign that requests "no shorts". As Moses bowed before God and as the woman washed Jesus' feet with her tears, so we should at least dress our best and respect the church. It should be noted that Catholic's believe Jesus is always in church in the Blessed Sacrament. The beauty of the church reflects that.

The out side of the church was very beautiful. The inside might have been IF we would have been allowed to enter. We were on vacation to Houston and decided to attend mass on Sunday before the Astro's game, but were turned away out front and told not to attend because of our attire. Sorry, but as a life long Catholic I was mortified that anyone should JUDGE someone's attire and ability to attend GOD'S house. I assure you that although we were not in a dress and suit - we were fully covered and on vacation trying to attend mass.

Annunciation Catholic in downtown Houston, TX (on Texas Ave., across from Minute Maid Stadium) is a wonderful traditional Roman Catholic church.

Monsignor Golasinski is a priest who has served as a priest since before Vatican II, who well remembers the pre-Vatican II mass and teaches many of the basics of the Catholic faith that so many have forgotten over the years.

Annunciation Catholic Church is the only church in Houston, TX that offers both the 1962 Tridentine Mass in Latin (8:00 on Sundays) and the Novus Ordo Mass in Latin (11:00 on Sundays).

If you remember the Latin Mass or want an introduction to the Latin Mass, this is a beautiful place to find it.

I do not live near here, but choose to attend because this Church makesme feel so special and Holy. The inside of this amazing Church reminds me of the Churches I attended as a child, and love the communion rail. This is rare today to find. The marble, the choir loft, all are things of the past and what makes this a spectacular Church and makes me feel special when I attend Mass there.

Annunciation Catholic Church is our parish by choice, not by geographical location. Monsignor Golasinski personally instructed my husband in the Catholic faith for more than a year during his conversion, and my family members have received most of our sacraments at Annunciation. The number of daily and weekend Masses and most importantly, the availability of confession and reconciliation is very, very good. The priests' homilies are always pertinent and relevant, not just once-a-week "feel-good fluff," and the solemnity of the Mass is maintained at all times. I highly recommend anyone wishing to experience a Novus Ordo or Tridentine Mass (or just attend English Mass, as we do) to visit Annunciation. You might make it your church home, too.
