They've been cooking barbecue here for over 65 years and they really know what they're doing. There is always a line at lunch on weekdays at peak time, but it is worth the wait (or go there after 1:00). All the food is great. The sauce is some of the best around- they have regular & hot (I like to mix them half & half). Be sure and check out the old photos on the wall- you can see the history of the place.

I've tried it out twice. NOT IMPRESSED. Coming from Kansas City I have pretty high expectations when it comes to BBQ and this place could not cut it at all. For one, they dont even smoke the meat on location so there goes fresh right out the window the sauce is pretty good though. The service is mediocre. The second time I went there they forgot my order. After 20min of waiting at my table patiently a clerk came by to ask if all was well and I asked if it would be much longer on the food. I guess it is what you could expect from a chain/franchise type BBQ restraunt but I think Dallas has more to offer when it comes to BBQ. I will keep looking.

Barbecue doesn't get any better than what you get at this Dickey's Barbecue Pit restaurant. This was the first Dickey's Barbecue Pit and it will always be the best! The legend began here and it gets better all the time. You can feel the history and can enjoy the laid back ambiance as you devour the best barbecue you've ever eaten. The veggies and the pies are awesome too. The price is great and you even get to keep the big yellow Dickey's cup that your drink comes in. I use mine all the time and consider it bragging rights because I eat there. We got a Cajun fried turkey there for Christmas dinner and it was great. Dickey's offers a lot more than just great barbecue. In the winter, I'm hooked on the chili...I can't make it that good, and I make great chili. Family oriented but you'll see business people as well from laborers to those who arrive in silk suits. Everyone who knows great food knows about this Dickey's Barbecue store!

Dickey's has perfected the art of slow-smoking meat over hickory wood until it's fork-tender and full of flavor; just the aroma of it wafting toward you will stir up any appetite. It's best to decide exactly what you want before you get in…
