I enjoy going to try different steakhouses....the inside of Kirby's is very pretty and normally they have live entertainment in the bar area which is very nice and relaxing. The steaks are good but I would not say fantastic.

A bit disappointing this restaurant is not for the average income couple. My husband chose this restaurant for our 15th wedding anniversary. He was happy enough with his meal but I was more than a little disappointed. I was shocked at the prices especially when my dinner didn??t include a salad or any side. My husband had the surf & turf which consisted of an average dinner salad a lobster tail and a 7oz filet for a cost of $70.95. I had the Cedar Plank Salmon for $25.95. This consisted of a fairly large piece of fish (half of which I took home) with a half of a lemon. I had to pay an extra $4.95 for a house salad that was 90% iceberg lettuce. My food was nothing to write home about. The service was good. Our waiter Michael went so far as to bring us a homemade chocolate cake with ice cream when he noticed that we were celebrating our anniversary. Our total bill that included a couple of beers for my husband and an $18 tip to our waiter came to $137.25. I told my husband next year I will be choosing the restaurant. It will be somewhere that serves an all inclusive meal that won??t cost us an arm and a leg.

Kirby's has always been good, the Southlake location follows suit. It will be interesting to see how it does compared to the Bob's Chop House location going in on Main Street in Grapevine. The Silver Fox isn't as crowded for good reason, but Bob's may give them a good deal more competition.

Pros: Great Steak

Kirby's is one of the best places to take a date in Dallas for steak. You need to be fairly serious about your date, or perhaps just have come into an inheritance, but it is worth the money.

The steaks are very, very good, and the service is excellent. You need to have both components or you will realize how much you're paying for a slice of meat. It's the service that puts Kirby's over Pappas Brothers and other similar premium steakhouses.

I would take a date to Kirby's because I knew if anything went wrong, it was my fault - nothing at the restaurant would be an issue.

The crab claws scampi are a great start, although I'm told I was very brave to order them on a first date because of the garlic content. I wondered what made them taste so good!

This is the original location - there are satellites in the suburbs, but none have been as good as the original. When you need a sure-thing and are willing to pay the price, it can't be beat.

PROS: great steaks, great service
CONS: made need a loan before the bill arrives

My husband and I love fine dining and were really looking forward to trying out Kirby's. I cannot explaing our disappointment. The service was snobbish and uncoordinated, the steak par (at best), the salad and soup could be described as a sad attempt, and the prices were considerably too high considering the items listed previously. Let me elaborate...Service: We didn't receive bread until we asked for it, which was after 3 different courses. The food runner brought out our steaks when we had not even started on the salad/soup. All attempts to remedy these mistakes were surrounded by an air of geniune indifference on the part of the server. Steak: The steak, in a taste test, would not beat a Texas Land and Cattle one. However, the price is 3x as high. Sides: The salad reminded me of the bagged stuff you can buy at the grocery store. The soup was simply broth. Price: Average steak, below average sides, and service that makes the customer feel like an inconvenience...you do the math and figure out if it seems worth it.

We've been going to Kirby's for over 15 years. It's my steak house of choice. There are more expensive. And there are probably better. But, I love my Kirby's. It's a comfortable place while maintaining a bit of elegance.

The food is always wonderful. I usually get the Tourandos Oscar, or at least with a bernaise sauce. I love the garlic house dressing. My husband's dad gets the pepper steak. The shrimp cocktail comes with HUGE shrimp. The cedar planked salmon is heavenly.

We took a friend once who said they could make a steak just as good themselves at home. I wonder... While that may be true, his steak wouldn't be served to him at Kirby's. And that means a lot to me. My husband used to go there when he was a teenager, back when it was in the old building. Kirby's is a Dallas tradition.

Pros: It's very, very Dallas.

Cons: My husband hates to valet. But, it's the best thing to do on Greenville.

Kirby's executes classic steakhouse food and service in a casually elegant settting. The pepper steak is the best around and the menu variety assures something for all. These guys do great seafood also.

Pros: great ambiance, valet parking, great service

Ever wonder why the most recent posted review is dated in 2002? Because more recent ones are deleted? Wonder why? Although Kirby's has a wonderful ambience, it doesn't make up for the tasteless steaks. At least mine was tender! The entire menu is overpriced and everthing is ordered a la carte. The service is okay but certainly nothing to write home about. Look for steak elsewhere if you are hungry.

I had heard wonderful things about Kirby's but it did not live up to my expectations. The steak was almost flavorless. I thought the service was slow. It's really too bad because the ambience is really good - what you can see of it through the dim lighting. The prices are too high and you can top it off with a tip for the valet parking. I do not be plan a return visit.

I have been visiting Kirby for some time. The food, service & ambience is always great to count on. I would highly suggest you visit.
