The game room/ dining room upstairs , designed with a neighborhood motif, maintains the beauty of the building dating to the early 1900's. On the weekends, live bands rock the Downtown in the safety of the Main street address and the healthy parking garage across the street is affordable and secure. The menu features daily specials, entree-size salads, and great juicy burgers with crispy fries. The bar is a great start to ending a long day Downtown with co-workers at the nightly happy hour or for casual dining with family and friends. Come on in, we have a friendly place for you.
When you want to just sit around and have a drink with friends, enjoy some live music, and most of all make fun of those tools going into those retarded ultra lounges... this is the place for you. The drinks are a good price, and the staff is cool. The music is good, and there's a 2nd floor with pool tables and sometimes additional live music. There's even a great selection of bar food. Can't beat it!

This place looks like a total dive but it is really cool. We go there for happy hour after work and it is a lot of fun. The drinks are strong and reasonably priced. Food is pretty good. They used to have really good chips and salsa but seems like they changed the chips and now they are not as good. Still its a lot of fun, lots of regulars - good times! Oh and they have live music.

I loved the atomosphere here and the stage was location in just the right area of the club.I will be going back in the near future and recommend everyone to try this out.

Anytime someone comes in to visit Dallas, I always make sure I take them by City Tavern to start the night off with a Dirty Dusty for $4. I big ol' shot a jack and a PBR, its the tops. Also great staff.
Pros: Great service, the all time best drink special
Cons: sometimes a little over crowded

I'm born and raised here, and have been to many a bar around the country. If you seek a cool relaxed setting, where it does'nt matter who you are, or where you're from, City Tavern will always be HOME.
Shout out to Josh, Misha, Dusty, Alicia, Canice, Toby, all the cooks, and anyone else I can't name. KEEP IT REAL DALLAS, TERRANCE OUT!
Pros: Not too big.
Cons: Opens too late.

This is my favorite spot in Dallas! It has a great neighborhood bar feel to it, and their selection of beers is quite impressive. But what really keeps me coming back to this place is the staff. They are amazing and I cannot sing their praises enough. There is also a second level that is great for having parties, or you could play a couple games of pool instead. As so many pretentious, soulless bars keep popping up in Dallas, it's refreshing to know we still have places like this in our town. Kudos to the City Tavern!

Wow, I went there for lunch and had the best reuben sandwinch I have had in a looonnng time! the food was great. I came alone so I sat at the bar and the people there were like a cheers. Very friendly and chatty. When I left I felt sastisfied from my lunch , service and the company. It's a great place,I haven't been there for the bands, but I can say you should really try their food!
Pros: Great value, great pastrami, nice crowd
Cons: parking... you CAN go to the davis bldg for a dollar across the street ( not bad eh?)
