I am from south Louisiana and I am all too familiar with Cajun food and just southern food in general. I first heard about this place months ago and everyone was talking about how good this place is and how it tastes like home. Since I'm a new resident, I figured that I should give it a try. Well....I order my food and it was terrible. It tasted like they did not properly clean their shrimp as it tasted like fishy water. I felt sick to my stomach and the food had no flavor whatsoever. Needless to say I was disappointed and said that I wouldn't return. But once again I did and I ordered a different meal. I just order some catfish and once again I was disappointed. I mean come on! I ordered 2 different items on 2 different occassion and it tasted like fishy salt water. How can a restaurant be named Boudreaux's and it has no taste like the south. I don't know who was cooking that mess but they should go back to where they came from. The cooks can't be that experienced and it seemed like that they did not try their food before sending it to the customers. The cooks need proper training at cajun cuisine. The staff wasn't too friendly and again with a name like that they should have staff willing to assist you and food that'll make you want to tell everybody. A word of advice...if you want something fresh and flavorful then you'll be better off cooking some Cajun food yourself or going to another restaurant like Pappadeaux's, Landry's Seafood, or Babin's Seafood. Just thinking about how bad the food was is making my nerves bad. If you can't use Zatarians or Tony's, or even salt and pepper and if you can't properly clean your seafood with regular water with no additives then you don't need to be in business. Maybe I just went to the wrong location but after 2 mistakes, I don't think I can afford to go a 3rd time.

I go here two times a month. My friend gets the shrimp caeser and I get the St. James, both are always good and consistently well done. She said there are alot more shrimp on the salad than Pappadeaux's and a better price. It is always busy a sign of good food. I have had many things on the menu and find the restaurant to be good no matter what you order.

Pros: good basic cajun dishes

Cons: Wish they had more fish options

I am not one to bash a place, and usually will eat something despite it being bad because I don't like to make a fuss. However, my fiance and I after reading the reviews here on citysearch went to Boudreax's with high expectations and in search of some good cajun crawfish.

I ordered a beer and jambalaya and my fiance a coke and a bucket of crawfish.
The coke machine was out of coke and the staff didn't appear all that too concerned. Her crawfish was tasteless though covered in powderyspice. It was tough and old tasting.
My jambalaya tasted like fish oil, it must have been in a crock pot for 6 hours or more and there was only one itty bitty piece of something that vaguely looked or tasted like sausage.

After spending 20.00 on this food, rather than have to talk to a manager for 10 mins. to get a refund, I simply took all of our food back to the ordering counter and told them with much honesty that this food is the worst I have ever eaten and is not authentic cajun food.

Boudreax's is a tourist trap.

Great, authenic cajun food. I recently moved here from Louisiana and have been on a qwest for some down home cooking. I've found it! Though I haven't had a chance to try the whole menu, I'm sure that I will before long!
