I went to Urgent Care Plus on 620 in Austin in April 2009 for a horrible kidney infection. The pain was awful and I could barely stand. After "signing in" and waiting in the waiting area (which was dirty and not well kept) I was called up to pay my $50 co-pay and shown a computer to fill out my medical background since I had never gone there in the past. This took every bit of 10-15 minutes and the pain was so bad, I don't even remember what I marked down because I couldn't wait to just get through it. Once I was called back, I was with a non-friendly girl who took my vitals and was in no hurry to get the doctor. I couldn't sit down because the pain was so stagnant, so I paced the small, sterile room until the MD came in. She had reviewed my urine to tell me, "Do you know you have an infection in your urine?" They went to med school for this? She spent 2 minutes with me, wrote me a prescription, and I left. Once I got to the pharmacy, the prescription wouldn't go through because the doctor hadn't called something in? I called Urgent Care (while waiting at the pharmacy in unbelievable pain) and I couldn't get a real person - I was transferred a few times, on hold for 15-20 minutes, and finally reached a tech who spoke with the doctor. At no point in my life had I not been able to reach a friendly voice on the other end of the phone at these medical places. It's unacceptable. I will NEVER, EVER go there again. It was unprofessional and it's not okay to treat sick human beings that way. To top it off, I got a bill in the mail 3 months later for $424 because they didn't take my insurance. Needless to say, they left a horrible taste in my mouth and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Pros: They were open.

Cons: They shouldn't be open.

I visited Urgent Care Plus on a Sunday, early evening. It was definitely a bonus that they were open, and have a no-appointment-needed policy. However, the care I received was sub-par at best. I had a wound that was assumed to be a small wart by the physician, to the extent that she was going to remove it if they had had the proper equipment. Thank goodness they did not, because it was not anything even close to a wart. The MD also indicated that "it isn't infected," and my primary care physician the next day indicated that it clearly was very infected, to the extent that it required antibiotics.

Bottom line: Do not go here if you wish to receive proper medical care and medical advice.

I needed a few questions answered when I called in and I needed to talk to multiple people, everyone I was connected with had a snippy attitude. I really hope it was a one time thing but I will never go there if i ever needed urgent care.

I went here for a runny nose. The nurses and doctors were smart and quick. The staff at the front was very helpful and the technician(i think named Alex) seemed to really care about my medical illness. I would go there anytime or recommend to my family.

Good Luck if you walk in on a night when he is on and need any kind of pain relief. He gives you the 3rd degree about how many pain meds you have had and when. Sometimes he even implies you are drug seeking when all you want is some sort of pain relief for your miserable pain.
Usually, after he has been horribly rude and condescending, and made you wait for an indefinite period of time, he will give you something. It is a very degrading and nasty way for a doctor to treat someone.

How did this place get a rating of 3 1/2 stars when no one has given them more than 2 stars? Waited two hours to have my finger bandaged! There are numerous unexplained charges on my bill.

I am new to the area and went to this clinic because it was close to my house and I thought it would be fast. I paid in advance $15, I have Blue Cross PPO. I waited an hour and a half in the lobby before I went back to a room. First the newbie came in to take my temperature. 30minutes later another girl came in to look at my hand. We talked for about 10minutes and then she told me the doctor would be in shortly. 30 minutes later an old guy came in to tell me they were in the middle of a shft change and the doctor would be in shortly. Finally, 3 hours after I originally checked in I saw the doctor. I will never go back. I can understand if I dont get noticed in a restaurant at a shift change, but that is no excuse for a medical facility. This place needs help.

Pros: Magazine collection

Cons: Everything else

Been there 2 times. Waited 2 hours each visit. You are required to pay in advance, even if you don't have a copay. I have been two 3 urgent care facilities in North Austin. I rank this one as the worst of the 3.

I've been here twice and each time it took from 2 to 4 hours to been seen. On one visit I went for extreme pain in my shoulder and got xrayed. They said nothing was wrong and told me to take some Advil. 2 days later they called back and told me I had a fracture in my shoulder. I was in the worst pain with no help. Also the staff besides on guy was rude, inconsiderate and unprofessional. Trust me go to any other one but this one...

I looked at the clinic website to see if it contracted with Blue Shield and it was listed. When I got to the clinic and signed in, the receptionist asked to see my insurance card , then told me that they do not have a contract for my insurance and that the office visit would be $200 plus lab work. I have Blue Shield, so I told her that I had checked before coming in - she said that they have a contract with traditional Blue Shield (whatever that means), but not PPO. I was simply there to have my eye examined for pink eye and that is $200!? I've had a complete physical with a doctor that does not contract with any insurance companies and the cost was $240. Anyway, you might want to call with insurance questions before wasting your time going there. If I have a real urgency on the week-end, I will go to an emergency room, not there. I will not go there anyway, since not only do they not contract with my insurance, they seem overpriced.

I arrived at Urgent Care Plus on a Sunday morning around 10am due to a rash and joint pain/stiffness. Upon checking in, I inquired if it would be a long wait. I was told there were only 2 people ahead of me, so it should be fairly quick. It didn't take long to be brought to the back and into an exam room. All of the staff I encountered early on were extremely helpful and friendly (the front desk clerk, the assistant who took my vital signs, and the nurse). After describing my symptoms and being checked out by the assistant and the nurse, I awaited the doctor's arrival. The wait was interminable--at least an hour and a half before she even made an appearance. Once she did, she checked me out briefly and said she'd take a sample to rule out any infection, and if that was negative, we could assume it was just a "wirus." (Her English skills were somewhat lacking). They told me the test would take 5-10 minutes. She left, and the assistant came in to take a sample, reiterating that it would probably be 5-10 minutes before she returned. I waited for another hour or so, and the nurse finally came back in (not the doctor, as promised) and said that the test showed that it was a virus. They gave me a prescription for an antihistamine for the rash and she said it should go away in 7-10 days. The info the nurse gave me as far as when to contact my PCP if symptoms did not dissipate conflicted with what the doctor had told me. I got the impression that the nurse was the more competent of the two, so I decided to go with her advice rather than questioning it. On our way out my mom spoke with the nurse about the wait and was told that the doctor was new and very slow. I really got the impression that she thought nothing of making us wait for such a ridiculously long time and it seemed she just ambled from one room to the next without any awareness of who had arrived first (in fact, I saw several patients who arrived after I did leave before we did).

I went to Urgent Care Plus because I have a Pilonidal Cyst that had gotten infected. The facilities were very clean and all of the staff was very friendly. I was a little wary after reading previous reviews. The doctor was knowledgeable and prescribed the exact antibiotics that are recommended for the treatment of pilonidal cysts. Very good experience.

I was misdiagnosed and had to seek medical help elsewhere. On top of it all, I got stuck having to pay the bill for the misdiagnosis. Totally unprofessional!

We had to take our son here on Christmas Eve because he had a puffy/ itchy eyes. The doctor who examined him was young and inexperienced. He examined his eyes and said he "had never seen anything like this", then he referred us to the hospital emergency room 10 miles away. We went to the emergency room, where a very knowledgeable doctor diagnosed the condition as Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye) - a very common illness in children, and wrote us a prescription. We had to pay Urgent Care Plus $40 co-pay, then had to pay the emergency room another $100 co-pay, plus had to waste our precious time and gas on Christmas Eve!!!

While being a mom of 2 asthmatic kids I try to know where ever hospital around here. My son was coughing but again with asthma everything is twice as bad or worse:( We took him to urgent care because he seemed to have problems breathing. The doctors and nurses were all very nice and friendly as well as educated. I was releived to find out my son just had an allery flare up that did not require hospital stay. He was prescribed a cought medicine and I gave him his regular ashtma medication. He was better in no time. They have a great location and took my insurance. I would recommend them to friend s and family.

When my son fell off the playground equipment, my wife took him here. When I met them there I was a bit skeptical. I thought of them as a second class place. However, they had movies going in the room to keep my son distracted and did a wonderful job of looking in to make sure we were all doing ok. The dr. was able to diagnose the fracture in my sons leg and refer us to a great orthopedist. I was very impressed with their professional manner, clean rooms, and friendly staff.
