My father was there short term-about 3 weeks-it was the 4th facility he was in after 2 major surgeries in a very short time period. It was by far the worst place he was in. The only good thing about this facility is the physical therapist staff-they are wonderfully caring & helpful-& some of the aides were very sweet. The nurses, however, are rough, do not really care about the patients & sorely inexperienced or poorly trained-not sure which. The facility is run down and needs to be disinfected badly! The beds have cranks and barely work. When I spoke to the wound care doctor & explained that of all 4 places we never had the wound care issues that we had at this place, he dismissed me & said it was the same everywhere because my Dad's condition was a difficult case - that I should look his condition up on Google! It may be difficult, but the facts are the other 3 facilities he was in did not have the issues caring for his wounds and keeping him clean that Victoria Gardens did. When we were finally able to take my Dad home-he still needs much assistance with walking and wound care-they did not even help us out of the facility. They left me and my 72 year old mother alone to wheel my Dad out of the building & get him into my SUV. This is a 6 ft man who can barely stand on his own & who had been in hospitals, partially bed ridden for the prior 3 months!! It was not an easy task to move him from his wheel chair up into the vehicle. I was appalled at the lack of caring for their patient's well-being. Not to mention the condition of his skin around his wounds was so red & irritated he could barely stand to be touched. Within 4 days, my mom, who has no nursing experience, had his skin cleared up to almost normal. People are in these homes because they need compassion, comfort & quality care, not to just be ignored. I would NOT recommend this home to anyone.

I have tried several times now to write a positive review, but it has yet to show up. I must admit that I was quit concerned after reading the reviews when a loved one was being moved there, but I was pleasantly surprised. My friend had only been there less than a day, yet the staff were calling her by name. They were eating good food designed for their needs. One lady I met in the hallway, said she hadn't eaten, so when I guided her to the dining room, I had several staff look at her place setting and came to assure me what she ate. I didn't even know her, but was impressed that they got on top of it! We met with the director and a Vice-President who booth were very personal and willing to hear all of our concerns and needs. Best thing: "We're open 24/7" which told me that they have nothing to hide and are glad to have visitors to love on their dear ones. I'm thankful for this home. It is a nursing home that is not fancy, but I'll take a smaller, clean home over fancy rooms any day!! Please look beyond some disgruntled reviews AND note there are other good reviews so keep reading. If they keep up w/my first encounter, they will receive 5 stars!

My sister had chest pains and was congested complained for a week, when she said she wanted to go to the hospital they finally took a chest xray and she has pnuemonia! The doctor looked at the xrays but never examined her, The nurses here are so mean to the patients it is ridiculous. I have heard them tell patients to "get over it" "don't exaggerate" and other mean things, even when they start to cry.
Most of the staff is so rude and uncaring when I said I was going to report them to the state, a nurse at the desk starting laughing. Not a good place folks. I am looking for a new place for her.

My sister has MS and we moved her to VG to be closer to family. The Residents looking well cared for and happy. Flash forward 2 years. They call us to say they are sending her to the hospital she is unresponsive and has a small fever. We rush to the hospital, she is filthy, unresponsive and her catheter is not in her bladder but in her vagina. She had a 20% chance of survival. She had a raging infection because a kidney stone was blocking her bladder and no urine had left her body in several weeks! Small fever, right! To make a long story short my sister now has to have one kidney removed and the other they will try to save by removing the stones. A surgery that would NOT have been necessary if VG had done there job. Mistaking vaginal discharge for urine, even I know the difference. She has MS and we fear she will have a hard time with the surgery. Please pray for her and every other person that is stuck in that hell hole.

my 87 yr. old mother has been here 2 years, only because the only other nursing in home in Frisco has a 2 year waiting list. I work full time and cannot take care of her at home. Since being here she has fallen and broke her arm, her back, finger, and elbow all at different times. Not to mention a trip to the hospital for gashes in her head and another trip for a gashed arm. When she broke her back they called me and said they got the xrays back from the portable xray machine and she had no injuries. I went up there and she was laying in severe pain, I told them to call an ambulance, the hospital xrays showed a broken back so bad she had to have surgery. The nursing staff is horrible. Your complaints go in one ear and out the other. She now has a broken shoulder, today she had a dr. appt. and the nurse forgot to order the ambulance to come pick her up. This is after 2 days of trying to get them to make her an appt.

My sister had an accident and was in the hospital nearly 3 weeks. She began to improve and the doctor said she should go to skilled nursing and rehab before going home. Her insurance is Medicare. My sister did not have any other insurance and because of her other medical bills had used all her savings. One accident wiped her out! We found out that Medicare only pays 100% for 20 days after that you have to pay a copay of $137.50 a day. That is more than $4,000 a month. We didn't have it.

Prairie Estates, Baybrook and the Belmont would take her for 20 days but after that she would have to leave. Someone suggested Victoria Gardens of Frisco. What a blessing. The building is beautiful, the staff was kind and the admitting person explain Medicaid and told us what you have to do to qualify.

They helped us understand Medicaid and we applied. They didn't make us pay $4,000 a month to have her stay there which was a blessing. My sister was there a little over 3 months. She is now at home and is doing well. The therapy team worked with her multiple times a day. They worked with her on getting stronger and being able to function at home. We were so lucky that Victoria Gardens of Frisco looked beyond the money and saw my sister and helped her.

I would recommend them to anyone!

My Mother has been attending this Facility For Years and VGF Is not the Same. The ADMINISTRATOR is lazy and lies A LOT. They Never Have Supplies, FOOD IS AWFUL AND IT SMELLS REALLY BAD. I AM LOOKING FOR A NEW FACILITY FOR MY MOTHER BECAUSE THE ADMINISTRATOR HAS RUINED THIS BUILDING REPUTATION and it shows!

When you hear the word hero most people think of firemen, policemen or soldiers. There is no doubt that these people are heroes. However, when I hear the word hero, I think of the staff at Victoria Gardens of Frisco. I placed my mother at Victoria Gardens of Frisco after a poor experience at a brand new facility in Frisco. I learned the hardway that fancy buildings doesn't mean good care. By the time we found our way to Victoria Gardens of Frisco her hip was broken and she had given up. She felt life was not worth living. The team immediately began to work with her. Because she broke her hip, she was not able to walk. The therapist began working with her, teaching her ways to transfer safely from her bed to the wheelchair. After a while they had her using a walker and finaly walking independently. Because she saw the same nurses, therapist and CNA's everyday, she really got to know them, and they really got to know her. The most amazing thing happened, as my mother's body began to heal and the bonds with the staff grew, she began to smile and look forward to each day. This team gave me my mother back. That is why when I hear the word hero, I think of Victoria Gardens of Frisco. If you have a loved one that needs help, I would encourage you to consider Victoria Gardens of Frisco. Victoria Gardens of Frisco understands that each person is unique and deserves to be treated with respect, dignity and a little love.

Pros: Best nursing, rehab and CNA's in a skilled nursing facility

Where would you have liked them to bring the body out? Get over it! Im sure your dad was fine. Thats what most elderly peeps are there for. Would you like them to leave the body in the room? My family member passed away there and they did nothing but good for him! And when they brought him out they did go through the front door but he was completely covered! So you cant see anything! Just think about it, They clean poo and lift heavy people all day! I was a CNA once and I had to quit because it is a hard job! Also nurses can only do so much, they are still under DR's and have to get their permission for everything! And they also have to deal with crabby people like you. The more mean you are the less you get because if you act like the employees are nothing then they start to feel like nothing.

After having my mom in two other facilities where the care was awful and the staff was rude, a friend recommended that I check out Victoria Gardens of Frisco (she volunteers there). This facility was not like the others where we had been. It does not have fancy chandeliers or elaborate decorations. It is simple and homelike, but it felt warm and inviting from the first. We were greeted by a friendly person with a smile and offered coffee while someone came to give us a tour. Once again the facility was not elaborate, but it was one of the cleanest building that that I had been in and there were no odors anywhere we went. Throughout the tour we saw rooms that had been decorated by families and staff that were interacting with the residents. We decided immediately to transfer my mother. Since moving her there, she has made friends with the staff and other residents. The staff members know her and my family by name and talk with us like part of the family. I have learned that in any hospital or nursing facility you have to wait for your call light to be answered, but they always seem respond to her very timely. The nursing staff always calls me if there is a problem with mom and have answered or gotten back to me on any questions that I had regarding her care. All I can say is that I sleep better at night knowing my mother is getting good care at a place where they actually care about her. Thank you Victoria Gardens of Frisco staff and management.

This center is horrible. The staff could care less about pain management for their "rehab" patients. My father was dying from a horrible and painful condition and it took 45 minutes to have a nurse come give him his pain medication after we used the all button several times. The nurses station was nothing but a social gathing of nurses who couldn't speak clear english and could care less if you stood in front of them for help. Meals, what a joke. I won't even go there. The last straw was when we witnessed someone who passed away and the body was brought out through the front doors IN FRONT OF ALL OF THE ELDERLY in wheelchairs. We sat there in shock and comforted the residents who sat there crying... Not to mention, it looked like business as usual when this happened. The staff stared at me when I complained and told them it was unacceptable to have a deceased person removed through the front doors in front of everyone. My father was miserable and was treated with medication for a condition he didn't have. That was it, we moved him out and he died peaceful and comfortable with the help of hospice. This place should be shut down and the director of this establishment should be fired or forced to live there in his staffs care for a month to get the feel of the treatment they are offering to residents. DON'T DO IT, IT'S SUCH A SHAME TO ALLOW THIS ESTABLISHMENT TO BE IN BUSINESS CARING FOR ANYONE'S LOVED ONE.

Went and visited this Nursing Home recently to find a place for my Grandmother who needs assisted living soon and was not too impressed. All the Staff seemed tired and exhausted and not too happy. The Nurses seemed friendly though and the people living there seemed happy though and were very talkative and were very informative to me. Told me all about the great meals and entertainment every day. The place was decorated very nicely and security seemed great. One thing that bothered me was it did have a terrible odor upon entering building. It seemed OK, but I'm gonna keep on searching. Cost was also pretty expensive per month too.
