Demolished my daughters 13th birthday. After calling and verifying they could accommodate us we arrive to find an hour and a half wait..and Im there with 18 teenaged girls for a party. Our party was repeatedly harassed by the security. The girls were told to quit singing happy birthday because they were being to loud. They were then questioned by security, management and waitstaff about another customers missing cell phone, Not once, not twice but FIVE TIMES. They allowed this customer to scream at these girls with no intervention on their part. When I tried to stop it, the lady tried to step around me to get to one of the girls. I blocked her with my body and was then told that if I did not leave the premises that I would be arrested for assault. 220 dollars for a long wait, an interrogation by the staff, verbal assault by other customers and 15 girls and two adults with explosive diarreah. Thanks Big Lous. Our party and our sick stomachs will never forget our visit there

I went here on March 15th, 2012. While Man Vs. Food made the place popular they have become TOO popular. The line to order the food was 2 hours long. To make matters worse the place had gotten so bad that they had not 1 but 3 police officers there for monitoring and crowd control. First a constable asked that if we were not the person in the party ordering the food to get out of line and wait in one of the bar/patio areas. We complied. Went to the original front of the store in the area marked "Temporary Waiting Area". Got a beer from the bar (which was covered in dirty glasses and took 20 minutes to get). Then parked ourselves at one of the picnic tables outdoors. About 20 minutes later we were approached by a staff member (keep in mind we have been at the table for 40-45 minutes and at the restaurant for 2 hours at this point) and asked to move because this table was reserved for someone else, I told him that we had been here and there was no reserved sign.

When I refused to move the manager came out. I told her we had been sitting there. She told me that we had to move to benches that lined the wall. I asked how I was supposed to eat a 42" pizza on a bench while drinking a beer. She said that we would be assigned a new table in a more appropriate area. I am not sure what that even meant. I told her I was un-happy that we had been shuffled back and forth and I did not want to move again and they we had been there. The answer back was if you are not Happy we can give you your money back and you can leave. We opted for that. This will be the last trip to Big Lou's in my humble opinion Big Lou's has gotten to big to care about customers.

Flew in from Pittsburgh looking for a good place to eat. Found the best pizza I ever ate! Food is definitely worth the wait. Also enjoyed the hospitality. Staff went above and beyond to make our visit memorable. Don't miss this place!

The pizza tastes pretty good, but the service is horrible. The lines are long and the wait tedious, but it is worth it. I got hair in my food twice in a row, so I stopped going for a while because of the ick factor, but I think I'm ready to give it a try again.

I'll tell you what, a rant by the owner on a public website? Not cool and pretty juvenile. That could have been said in a much classier way.

I'd say try it, just not on a Friday at lunch. You'll wait an hour just to order. But the popularity is a good thing - it means the food is good.

The Truth about a customer is that they have no consideration for one another and that in turn makes things difficult for my staff. Not only are they complaining while they are in line waiting to oder but then they will also complain while they are waiting to be seated. The majority of the parties that we get here at Big lou's are parties of 20-50 and will normally take place on the weekend. Since we don't take reservations we will normally get these parties coming in without warning and that's okay because we are here to try and service everyone. Unfortunately patients is none existent here at Big Lou's, there insn't any resaurant in San Antonio that is able to accommodate the kind of parties that we will accommodate. I have customers yelling and abusing my staff on a nightly basis trying to force them to make other customers that have already finished eating leave so they can be seated. Then after hours of complaining they sit down eat their food and then after they are finished eating they do exactly the same thing the customer before them did " MAKE OTHER CUSTOMERS WAIT FOR THEM TO MOVE SO THEY COULD HAVE A CHANCE TO EAT ". Then when my staff asks them politely to move so another customer can sit they get offended and run down to the nearest computer to tell the world how rude and inconsiderate my staff is. Well I say to you " DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD WANT THEM TO DO UNTO YOU ". When I came up with the idea of the 37" and 42" pizza I was intending to accommodate parties of 10-15 instead we have been getting parties of 20-50 and now I am having customers going online of course and saying how stupid weare for creating such a large pizza because they have to wait to be seated, well I say to you are we the stupid ones, common sense tells you that if there is a line outside and no parking you probably might have to wait not only to be seated but also for your food, I personally have never been to any other pizza place and not had to wait even if there aren't many other customers because most pizzas are made to order. I could sit here all day long commenting to negative comments ranging from all the signs that I have hanging in our restaurant to the way we service our customers but I am not going to cower behind my computer. I am very proud of what we offer our great community, I feel very fortunate to have serviced our community for the last 11 years. You the customer have made us who we are and I am greatful and I know that we have alot of great customers that really appreciate the job we do. We are currently under construction and should be able to make your dining experience a very good one in months to come, but until then please if you have any problems concerning anything here at our resaurant please feel free to bring it up to management because I can't fix the problem unless you address the problemwith us properly, not by hiding behind your computer trashing us for everyone to see trying to ruin our business. For the Big Lou's faithful please don't worry about us changing our products to try and save money because of our construction, if anything we are working hard to try to make our product line even better so you wil be even happier. Thank you for reading this and we look forward to seeing you at Big Lou's. One last comment for our competition I have received information that there have been several other resaurants that have posted negative comments about our resaurant and if that is true don't forget about a little thing called karma, I feel that there is plenty of business for everyone and I to become a customer throughout the week and eat at several of my fellow restaurateurs places and have never once posted any negative comments about any other establishments.

First of all the place is under construction so the parking is limited, you will have to wait until someone leaves to get a parking. If you are a first time customer prepare to read lots of signs all over the place of things you can't do; but how silly is that at the entrance there's not a sign to inform you that you can not seat yourself, so if you seat the waitress will tell you that you have to place your order first so you have to wait in line a few minutes to order and then you will have to wait again to be seat it. They tell you that they only have 2 sizes of for the drinks 20oz (NO Refill) and 32oz(Refill) but you better get the 20oz even tho it doesnt have refill is ok because the waitress doesnt go to your table more than 2 times and you wont be able to get the refills you want; the waitress go one time to serve the sodas and the second time to deliver the pizza. We ordered the 42" pizza and it tasted ok but it is not worth the ridiculous price. The service was horrible and the staff were rude, I guess thats why the charge you for the tip when you place the order because they know that they wont get any tips from the "service" they are giving. We did not finish eating that they were already cleaning the table and giving us pizza boxes for the left-overs, we were truelly surprise that we were treated so bad in a place that seems so friendly and cool when we saw it on TV in the food network chanel. We would never come back to that place ever again! This is the first place in San Antonio, Texas that we experienced the worst staff and waitresses. Im telling you, if you want to spend a great time and a nice eating experience go to any other place San Antonio is full of them and then you wont have to go trough what we went trough. Im giving my review to let people know that what we see on TV is not always going to be like what we saw.

I heard about this place on an episode of Man Vs. Food and from a few co-workers so I gave it a shot and I was thoroughly disappointed. The pizza is very much run of the mill. Plan on having to wait at least 10-15 mins just to order. No special taste, sauce, toppings or anything aside the choice to get their HUGE pizza. I went with 2 other ppl and we all were pretty much let down considering all the hype. If you want much better pizza as for taste, check out Goomba's IMHO.

Pros: Huge Pizzas

Cons: Taste is only OK, Wait was Long

.

All the bad reviews are from cranky people who do not normally tip 15-17% so they think gratuity is bad. If you don't like tipping the average, stay home. If you go during lunch rush hours, expect a long wait time. This place is good so they have a very long wait. If you plan on staying at a restaurant for more than 30 minutes after you receive your meal, do not go during rushes. All the bad complaints and experiences will seem to disappear.

We went on a Saturday around 11:45am. We were seated right away and pizza was served quickly. The waitress kept checking on us, so we experienced really good service. As we were leaving, the line was out the door. I could see how some people could get frustrated with the long wait, but we really enjoyed it and will go back again.

We went 2 times and both times this place was packed. They told us we had to wait about 45 minutes to be seated so we left. We finally went on a Monday night and were sitted pretty fast. I went with my husband, three kids who are 9,8, and 3. We bought a one pizza and 4 drinks and the meal came out to 47.00 bucks. I thought that was very pricey so I looked at my receipt and it turned out they charged us gratuity charge. If your party is 5 or over you will be charged a gratuity charge no matter how old your kids are. So I was charged an extra 7 dollars on the meal. Well the pizza wasnt that great. It was greasy. For 47.00 I could have went to peter pipers and enjoyed a better tasting pizza for half the price. I would never go here again. It is too small, theres a long wait time, and the pizza is over rated

Staff was friendly, we were seated immediately and the pizza was served quick, hot and tasty. The server kept coming by and asking us if we needed anything and how was everything. I called the manager,(don't know if it was Lou himself) and told him how everything was and he said how he appreciated our business. We will be going back.....
Oh and I wanted to add, We had a 20" pizza, with a couple of sodas and with the gratuity it only came out to about $6.00 each, Now if you think that's too much, then go and try and find some other place cheaper. Like I said, I will be taking my family to Big Lou's. Good Pizza.

UPDATE: OK, went back this time in the evening, on a Wednedsay, Parking lot was full but went in anyway. Again we stood in line maybe 2-3 minutes, placed our order the got seated in less than 3 minutes. We got our pizza about 10 minutes later and again the pizza was great, Got the supreme, plenty of sauce, veggies, meats. Everyone was friendly, the waitress came by several times to check on us. So now I have gone at lunch time, and in the evening time, both times everything, everyone was great. So I dont know about the people that complain. Just go there, eat a great pizza and have fun...

The pizza, while good, isn't worth putting up with the rude staff and owner.
You have to place your order before they will put you on the list for a table, but don??t expect your drinks until you get to the table. If you want a drink, go to the bar, but I warn you, it isn??t service with a smile. We go to the bar and the bartender immediately tells us we can't have a 14 and 7 year old in the bar area while we ordered our drinks - we had to send them to the other room. The whole while, he allows a boy of maybe 11 to stand there for more than an hour. After about 45 minutes we get a table and soon after, the pizza arrives at our table. The pizza was good but they were skimpy on the mushrooms. There is no wait staff to speak of in that there are no waiters. Everything is ordered and paid for ahead of time. They have runners who bring the pizza to the table and show up twice - the first time to ask if you need a refill on your drink and the second to ask if you have any problems. Yes - not ?? ??Is there anything else you need? ?? But, "Do you have any problems?" Our answer was no, everything was fine. During this exchange, we notice that the owner was blatantly standing behind the girl with two people waiting to clear our table. We were there to celebrate a birthday and were in the middle of opening cards and sharing conversation, while the birthday boy continued to eat. Well I guess they didn't like our answer because "Lou" then positioned himself in the other room and essentially stared us down for the next 10 to 15 minutes until we finally left. As we left, my husband took Lou??s hand and said we won't be back.
If you are in for a novelty experience - go to Big Lou's - if you want a good family experience and good pizza - go to your nearest Double Dave's and order the thin crust where the staff is always nice and you have some games to entertain the kids to boot.

Cons: The place offers nothing beyond the novelty.

We had a great experience at Big Lou's. We went on a Wed night and ordered the 42" with everything on it. I thought it was fine to order first, then get seated. The wait was not that long and they warn you first that the giant pizza's (37-42") can take up to 1-2 hrs. We knew this going in, and were pleasantly suprised at how fast it actually came out (less than an hr.) Our waitress was very nice and very attentive. Big Lou came over and talked to us awhile and even took some photos with us. The crust was so thin and delicious. The toppings were smothered under the cheese. I would definately eat here again.

I went there this Sunday at 1pm and first you walk in and stand in line to place your order, then you have to wait again to be seated by the "hostess" which will not take your name down until you order your food. You have to wait to get your table before you get your drinks and then be prepared to talk to some friends, do your taxes, and read a book because you are going to be waiting. And conserve your drink because after your "waiter" seats you, you are not going to see them again until your food is ready which will be a while. We waited in line for 20 minutes to get to the front of the line and then the girl behind the register stood there listening to the other register talk to the cook for no reason before she took our order. We then sat around for 30 minutes before getting a table. Drinks finally brought out, but the cup was too big for my 5 year old niece so we asked for a small lidded cup like we got for the babies water. Waitress said she would be right back, but did not come back until 45 minutes later when the pizza (2 - 16 inch pepperoni pizzas) was brought out. At which time I again asked for the smaller cup and a refill of my Dr.Pepper, again waitress gone for 20 minutes by which time we had walked up to the register to get a to-go box since waitress no where in sight before waitress returned and brought my refill of Dr.Pepper and joked "sorry almost forgot about that." We had already packed and were getting up to leave when she came back. The worst dinning experience I have ever had and I have been in foreign countries many times. Do not go to this place until they fire every last one of the wait and register staff and get a better plan on how to run a restraunt. And by the way, they had the gaul to include a mandatory tip at the begining when we placed our order and paid becuase we had 4 adults, a 5 year old and a baby for a waitress that gave us 1 round of drinks, brought out 2 pizzas, and handed me a large glass cup as we were leaving that I had to drink down quickly before we left. This place is terrible,

Pros: Pizza is very tastey

Cons: Setup is stupid and wait staff are terrible.

.

Ordered a pizza to pick up on my way home for work, when I arrived 30 minutes later they said they had no order. When I tried to complain I was told to leave. They have a good business but if they keep treating people like they do it may not last.

Cons: Poor service, rudness

We have always been a fan of big lou's. We have been going ever since it was at it's old location. Well Jimmy is one of the rudest people there. The last 2 times we have gone he has had something to say. We only go when our family from out of town wants to go eat the huge pizza. Best thing to do is Take it To-Go!!! One incident was I was pregnant and my father-in-law pulled a chair for me to sit down and Jimmy took it away from me and told me we had to wait to be seated. My in-laws will not go in there anymore!!

If you want a big pizza go there, if you want a good pizza and good service, go elsewhere! The bartender is rude, the manager is even more rude. Final impression: small business who could care less if they get your business. Last time I spend my hard earned money where it is not appreciated

First time to Big Lou's, ordered the 37" and it was awesome. When we seen it coming we all laughed. No way could we eat all that pizza. Then came the test, it was very very good and the service for a Friday night she was outstanding. I am hooked! We'll be back.

I've been to Big Lou's twice now both times on a weekend night, parking was tight, waiting was long, but the atmosphere and the pizza made up for that. Both times we have had the same waitress, Lisa, who each time went out of her way to make sure our party of over 20 were taken care of, you could tell she loves her job, and the family "Big Lou" or "Pops" as people call him. And "Pops" what a character, he made his appearance brief but impressionable, we also met Jimmy, the manager/bartender, after a couple of his Margaritas even he was charming. Now for the food, the best pizza and the closest thing to real New York style pizza I've ever had, my wife had the Alfredo, delicious. They make a show out of delivering this huge pizza to our table, then showing us the right way to eat it, everybody loved it, thanks Big Lou's WE WILL BE BACK

I am a bad customer--I started eating at Big Lous when they first opened their tiny pizza place, and I was in love. So in love, I decided not to tell anyone about this place. Of course, my plan didnt work. People realized very quickly how great this place was. Not just their GINORMOUS pizza's, but the salads are ALWAYS COLD & CRISP, the fettucini alfredo is to die for!!!!! I apologize for being a bad customer in the beginning, but I am telling you now--Big Lou's Rocks!

My husband and I eat at Big Lou's every week, no matter what. I would eat there more if i could. We absolutely love the food and the service. The salads are ALWAYS fresh and crisp, which amazes me...not one piece of slightly wilted lettuce, ever. The cheese bread is filled with so much yummy goodness, my mouth is watering right now thinking about it. The pizza is absolutely perfect every time, whether it is a 10" or 42". The lasagna and alfredo are also wonderful and just as good the second time (the portions are huge, so you have some for lunch the next day). I have and will continue to recommend this restaurant to every who mentions the word pizza.

To Big Lou's: see you in a few minutes

Also, check out my husbands' 42" big lou video at youtube and search big lou's 42"

Pros: very good pizza, no attitude, good friendly service

Cons: takes a bit of time but what do you expect when you are not the only customer and it's fresh..

.

We've been eating at Big Lou's since they were at their other location. Their pizza is always fresh, hot, cheesy and delicious! If you don't want pizza, their buffalo wings are finger licking good....spicy, well cooked and full of sauce. I love their salads....the lettuce is NEVER wilted, always fresh and crisp, the mushrooms full of flavor, and the bleu cheese dressing is very good. I've had better, but the salad makes up for it!!! The business is part of the community, a very important part of the community, and those that don't like it, thank you for not coming back....more seating for those of us who love the food, the atmosphere, the staff! I don't care how long we have to wait to be seated, it's worth it!
The beer is always ice cold, the margaritas better than some I've had at "better restaurants"(and they're made by the quiet, mysterious, friendly man with the tattoos). What I appreciate more than anything, is they will not sell alcohol if they feel you have had too much. They are not there to make a quick buck with the sure thing of selling, but actually care about their patrons.

Our family has been dining at Big Lou's since they first started out at the little building down the street from it's present location. We have never been so happy & satisfied & at ease at any other restaurant. The atmosphere is very friendly, & the staff makes you feel right at home. The first person to wait on us was Jimmy, & he is still taking care of us today. Val became friends with our daughter! We love it when Big Lou's Dad comes around the tables to chat & socialize with us customers, & asks us how our food is, & talks about stuff, he makes us feel like family, very welcome. They are very conscious of the customer & they strive to meet & often exceed all expectations. We are very proud for them that they have come this far from the old place, they have done this by HARD team work, they are totally devoted to the business of making good food, & pleasing the customer & The food is excellent, no, it is EXCELLENT!!! We have tried just about every item offered on the menu, & every thing we have ever eaten there has been DELICIOUS. If you've never tried the Pizza Rolls, they are great. The Chicken Alfredo is to die for! You'd best be real hungry when you order a Spaghetti or Lasagna with a side salad because, believe me, you will get alot of food for your money! The Chef Salad is scrumpcious! The sandwiches are Heavenly, the bread is so lite and delicious, it's unreal! It's surprising how reasonable the prices are. I work for a large company, & after introducing my boss to Big Lou's, now alot more people from my work know about it & love it almost as much as we do. Our family spreads the word around about San Antonio's little "best kept secret", & nowadays when we go in there to eat, we do have to wait a little longer than we used to, & that's because alot more people know about BIG LOU'S, but we have watched Big Lou's grow from a tiny place to a bigger establishment,& we beam with pride & admiration for ya'll. Thanks, Big Lou's & We Love Ya'll, God Bless.

We have been to this establishment many times and we just had a birthday party there today with 20 people! My husband went there about 45 minutes early and reserved a space and staff was very helpful! We ordered the 42", which was delliicciioouuss!!!! Service was very prompt and owner was very friendly! With the huge pizza, another 20 inch pizza, salads , and 20 drinks, the cost was so low!! I am very impressed and my son is already planning next years party at Big Lou's! Very good, friendly staff and low, low prices for fresh food!
Will return many times in the future and so will all my friends that ate there for first time today! Thank you!

What can I say...........The Pizza is GREAT along with the customer service. Everytime I have gone to Big Lou's I have experienced excellent friendly service along with excellent food. I've been going for years and I have to say I am always satisfied along with the people I bring with me (expect more service). You can't please everyone.... that's life! There will always be those people out there. They can do us a favor and go somewhere else so we can have more room! : ) Thanks again for everything and I'm sure we'll be seeing you soon!

First off to those who appreciate hard work and dedication we truely appreciate your business.
For those who have nothing good to say about our restaurant we apologize for either giving you
poor service or poor quality food, however if you choose to hide behind the internet and are not
adult enough to address the problem while at our establishment then shame on you.I guess it is not
easy to speak up and say what you feel because you are either afraid or have no backbone. I will
have you know that in my eight years in business I have tried very hard to please as many people
as I can,But I have come to the realization that people love to bring good people down and that you
just can't please everyone. Everyday we open up and try the best that we can to deliver a fresh
product. We make all our products fresh daily from our sauces to our dough, but we are far from perfect
as some of these lovely customers love to point out. But I challange them to try and serve the
public! As for my guy with the tatoos he is loyal and honest and has never had a problem with
the law he just likes body art.If you have a problem with him please speak up I know he can be
tough and to the point but please understand we sometimes deal with very rude people, and it's
just not easy to sit everyone at the same time because of the big parties we attract. So we
apologize for any inconvenience.AS FOR THE LADY THAT HAS SLAMMED ME ON EVERY SITE POSSIBLE
PLEASE COME IN AND I WILL REFUND YOUR MEASELY $8.00,BUT SO YOU KNOW A PIZZA CAN TAKE TIME TO BAKE,
WE ONLY TOOK 20 MIN. TOTAL FOR YOUR COMPLETE ORDER,PLEASE TRY HARD TO TELL THE TRUTH, THERE
IS MORE TO THE STORY , YOU AREN'T PRESENTING ALL THE FACTS.

Pros: Fresh Food Evertime

Cons: Not Enough Seating Or Parking To Go Around

The service from the wait staff all the way to the owner was the worst I've ever experienced. I will never go back there again. They took too long with my order and were very unwilling to refund my money. The manager stated the owner's (which is also the cook) the boss and he makes up the rules .I told them to keep their food.

So, there 's this place on the south east side of town, Great Pizza! They have other dishes: Calzones, wings, etc. But, lets face it, you want to come here for the pizza. Maybe you dont want the 42" 'BIG LOU',but hey, any size it amazing. Just be sure you call ahead and give them some time to make your pizza if you think you want to try the BIG LOU.
It's a local spot, family owned, right in the middle of an older community. They recently changed locations, but the food never suffered. Each time I bring a new friend, they end up taking their friends, and so on. Each time i speak of this place at work, some one over hears and the next day, I hear all about their experience. The dinner is a bit small, most tables fitting 4 or 5. It's a house converted to a restautant. The crust is buttery and can be soft or crispy, the toppings are plentyful and all the soda you want, or order a beer, sure! No wonder SA is the Skinniest city in the world:)

IN RESPONSE TO victorphilly I TO HAVE HAD THE PIZZA EXPERIENCE IN THE NEW YORK AREA AND BIG LOU'S PIZZA CAN HANG WITH ANY OF THE SO CALLED BIG BOYS IN THE PIZZA CAPITOL. I HAVE HAD BIG LOU'S ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT OCCASIONS AND THE QUALITY IS IMPECCABLE. THE FOOD WAS PROBABLY THE MOST FRESH FOOD I HAVE HAD IN A LONG TIME AND AS FAR AS THE VALUE THE FOOD SPEAKS FOR ITSELF AND I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH THEY DO SERVE THE LARGEST PIZZA IN TEXAS. SO IN RESPONSE TO victorphilly IT SEEMS THAT YOU EITHER WENT IN THERE WITH A BAD ATTITUDE (IF YOU HAVE EVEN BEEN THERE AT ALL) AND THE GOOD PEOPLE AT BIG LOU'S WOULDN'T PUT UP WITH YOUR POOR ATTITUDE, OR YOU ARE AN OWNER OF ANOTHER PIZZA PLACE AND YOU ARE JUST TRYING TO BRING GOOD PEOPLE DOWN AND TRYING TO SPREAD SOME BAD IMFORMATION. WHATEVER THE CASE I HOPE THE MORE INTELLIGENT PEOPLE READING THIS WOULD GO TRY BIG LOU'S AND FORM THIER OWN DECISION BASED UPON THIER EXPERIENCE.

I went to Big Lou?s for the first time. I LOVED IT! The decor was very fun and casual, covered wall to wall in pictures, posters, etc. The signs were so popular that someone stole them from the ladies bathroom ? poor Big Lou.

The pizza tasted great. It was so loaded with toppings that they slid off the slice, which was the only downside. I had to eat the slice with a fork and knife until it was small enough to pick up. That didn?t detract from the excellent taste of the pizza though. I even ate the crust, which I rarely do.

The staff was also wonderful. The waiter showed my daughter the kitchen and oven where they make ?the biggest pizza I have ever seen!? We went on a Tuesday night when it wasn't very busy, so the service was quick.

I will definitely be back!

I can tell you that this baby is the bomb. Well worth the wait. I went at lunch and had to bring it back to eat it. It was still pretty warm, and DAMN it was good. Best in San Antonio and quite a few other places too. I don't know who Big Lou is, but I am thinking about getting one of those 44" monsters for my daughters Bday in a few months. Gotta try it, gotta try it:)

My family and i love Big Lou's , It has to be the best pizza in town , even the salads are great (how do they get the lettuce so crisp and fresh every single time) Even though on fridays there may be a long wait the pizza is to die for! You surely can 't get that homemade taste at no pizzahut. And don"t worry about asking for extra cheese its always loaded. It's a great place to take the whole family.

Regarding silverwolf72 74 below average rating . I use to work at Big Lou's and would have to say that you are just probably one of those people that would complain even if it is right. Those people at Big Lou's care so much about their customers that even if they get the order wrong they go above and beyond to make it right and just so you know people do make mistakes except of course silverwolf72 74. I have been around the Big Lou family since it came about seven years ago and those people really work hard and compared to other places they care about quality. I moved on to a different job but still eat there and will continue on for years to come. I know not everybody is perfect and I too have received the wrong order before but it was corrected promptly, but there is much more to this place than silverwolf72 74 mentioned. Great food Great people !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have visited Big Lous at different hours of the day. No matter if its busy or dead, they always manage to screw up the order

Ive lived in San Antonio for over 15 years and never heard of Big Lous until recently. I purposely made a trip from the far North side today just to try them out and see what the big hoopla was all about. I was hoping to just get a few slices to go but they only serve whole pies. Yes, I will have to agree that Big Lous does serve one of the best East Coast style pizzas in San Antonio. (I rank Goomba's as #1 and I'm more partial to Chicago Style than East Coast) The pie was loaded with cheese which was hot and gooey. The crust was soft and buttery and didnt have that cardboard taste that you normal experience when you eat at one of the local pizza chain restaurants.

Did I say 42" PIZZA - takes two+ plates to hold a slice and two people to deliver to the table. Takes many more to eat it!!! Best Ever ;)

best pizza in SA that I have found - hands down. as for all those who rated the crappy chains ahead of BIG LOU'S in the readers poll - I suppose your taste buds have been conditioned (and ruined) by McDonnald's!

I have had the opportunity to dine at Big Lou's and also have taken out pizza. They by far are the best in town. They were written up in the San Antonio Express Newspaper and also in the USA Today Newspaper as being one of the best pizzas in the nation and believe me, I agree with them. Have been all over the United States and overseas, this happens to be the best pizza I have ever had. Give it a try, you will not be sorry.
