Doggie Dooz is fine
by ceba a.
Lots of rumors going on between this salon and another one in the area. All I can say is my two dogs go monthly and have for 2 years without incident. We do not need extensive services for our pets, nails and teeth only, but they always do a good job. Friendly as well.

Kelli at Doggie Dooz is worth the trip!!
by Diane B.
Because Kelli, who owns Doggie Dooz, is no longer traveling to Austin each week to groom her loyal customers' dogs, we are going to her this week to once again get the perfect cut and the loving attention that made our pups pull at the leash to get into see Kelli. Since she has been staying in San Antonio, the pups (a mini schnauzer and a schnoodle) now pull away at the leash trying to avoid being groomed. I am not sure what is going on that some of the reviews are not good that I have read, but Kelli is amazing, runs an immaculate grooming area, is courteous and gracious, and loves animals. When our previous schnoodle was in her last weeks of life, Kelli gently groomed her and when we got her back she actually had some pep and vigor that helped her last a few more weeks than she might have without Kelli's massage. So I say, if you have a dog who needs grooming you will not find a better groomer than Kelli.

Change of Heart
by andrea b.
I have an older male dachshund that I have taken to Doggie Dooz off and on over the past 5 years or so. Normally I don't have any problems with the salon or the staff. However, this past week I took my older dachshund and my 1 year old female for wash, glands, teeth, nails, and ears. Their nails were not cut sufficiently, their ears were not cleaned, and neither were their teeth. And I assume they have switched their shampoo because now my older male dachshund is having a severe reaction to whatever they washed him in. It is so bad, he will not walk and when I try to pick him up, he winces and wines.
From reading other reviews and talking to others, I understand there is a new owner. I think I will be sticking to Petsmart for my grooming needs from now on.

Sounds Scary!!!
by JD S.
We found this list of review after reading a craigslist post about Doggie Dooz 'cooking a dog!' What!?!?!? Then after reading this list of reviews it seems that another (different case, assuming the dates are correct) dog died while in their care. No way should anyone risk this place with their animals.

No Life?

I am amazed at the trash talk grooming shops throw around, they are far worse than any people salon. I have taken two of my dogs over the years to Doggie Dooz, both with the previous owner and with the not so newer owner. My dogs are always clean and have much nicer haircuts than any other place around (I to tried them to see what the hype was about), the staff is always friendly and know me and my dogs by name. I to heard the rumours and asked my own questions and took my own tour of the facilities, Doggie Dooz doesn't even own heated dryers! Ask for yourself to see, they told me they have nothing to hide unlike other places I have been to! Every pet owner really needs to question their self and the lack of proof on these outlandish claims made, if you are a follower and can't make up your own mind on issues that directly effect you and yours then maybe it is better you just vent on these reviews and don't take up a much appreciated appointment slot that I want to fit my dogs in! :-)

This Groomer Has It!!!!
by Josie B.
Kelli, the owner of Doggie Dooz has been grooming my st. poodles for years and they looked like they could walk into a show ring after she finishes them. In fact, I drive from Austin every 6 weeks for them to spend the day being groomed to perfection by her. My 2 boys absolutely love going there....and the treatment we get when we walk in the door is first class. I've reccommended Doogie Dooz to all my doggy friends in San Antonio and not one has ever had a bad experience there with the service or grooming.

Never been but after reading reviews I will never take my dog here
by Anonymous
This place sounds really awful. Based on these reviews I will never take my dog to this place. My parents have been taking there dog to Lucy's Doggie Day care off of Thousand Oaks for about 2 years now and they have no complaints and only good things to say, so you might want to check Lucy's instead of this place. If I walk into the door of any place to drop off my dog and receive unfriendly service by the receptionist you better believe I am going to walk right back out the door. Trust your gut instincts and don't trust people because the majority of people are ruthless.

Worst Dog Groomer
by Anonymous
I recently dropped my 10 month old Shih-Tzu off at Doggie Dooz on Stone Oak Pkwy in San Antonio for the first time. As I walked in, the receptionist was very cold toward me and my dog and simply asked in an unfriendly way, "and this is who?? She never once acknowledged my puppy throughout the entire time I was there. She was very unpleasant to say the least. I asked her if she would give him some water and she replied again in a very rude cone, "I'll put some in his crate." I was shocked that a "pet salon" would be so unfriendly, however, I had a very important meeting at work and coudl not be late. I was really worried during the day and could not wait to pick him up that afternoon. I was actually concerned with his safety because of how unfriendly and uncaring she acted toward my dog and I. I asked to speak with the owner when I picked him up. The owner did come out and speak with me, however, never once apologized for the very poor customer service, instead simply stated "I understand, the receptionist should not have acted in that manner and I will talk with her later about it." I was really expecting an apology for this negative experience and maybe even some encouragement to return to allow them to make this up on the next visit, however, the owner was basically as cold and unfriendly as her staff member. She never once acknowledged my dog either. I literally felt as if I had dropped off a piece of luggage for repair. I really thought that the owner of a "PET SALON" would be more customer service friendly to the pets, considering this is their business and, one would think, their personal passion!! I am very upset about this entire visit and regret the day I chose to walk in the door at Doggie Dooz. This has obviously been a learning experience and I will never patronize this establishment again, nor will my family or friends.

Don't let this happen to your pets!
by Kymberlee R.
Dear All Beloved Pet Owners,
I took my Shih-Tzu Londyn Jewels to Doggie Dooz for grooming in Stone Oak on Thursday, March 1st at 11:45am with plans to pick her up at 4 pm. Instead I received a call at 2pm~ with the groomer on the phone in a monotone voice, your dog isnt breathing right and were taking her to your Vet. At the Pet Hospital, they (the groomers) gave three different stories to me, a friend, my husband and the Vet. They told me after getting Londyn out of the cage dryer they put her on the table and she went limp, wet herself and she wasnt breathing right. When they dropped her off at the Veterinarian Hospital ~ her temperature was only 96 degrees, her heart rate was faint and she was fighting for her life (turning blue without oxygen)
The doctor came in and told me she had bruising and hemorrhaging on the inside of her mouth, her lung had collapsed (either her trachea or lung had been punctured) and that she appeared to have suffered some sort of trauma. She died there while I waited alone hysterical! She was just 16 months old, our BABY! We are so incredibly devastated that we cant bare her loss. Were not exactly sure what happened to our dog Londyn and are waiting on pathology which generally takes 1 to 7 days from Texas A&M Veterinary Pathobiology. All we know so far is that our puppy suffered a fatal injury and somebody needs to be held accountable. We have yet to hear from the Groomer/Owner of Doggie Dooz or even receive a sincere apology. The owner Kelly hangs up the phone on us when we call her with questions. She said she doesnt have time to be harassed by her customers. We just want the answers we deserve and need. We took a vibrant, full of life little puppy in just to get a haircut.
With all that being said, we now have a Veterinarian bill of $846.81 due which is to be paid by us. By letting others know of this tragic incident maybe we can stop this from happening to another beloved pet. We have filed a complaint with the BBB, have contacted Animal Cruelty here in San Antonio, TX,also weve contacted an Attorney. We have now become even more upset by the way this has been handled by the owners of Doggie Dooz. As soon as the pathology is in we will be handing over a copy to Animal Cruelty and every media outlet possible. In the meantime, I would like to thank everyone that has offered their condolences. We are deeply sadden by the events that have occurred and wish nothing more than to retrace our steps that day when we walked into what we thought to be a loving, caring and happy place where one takes their little doggie to get pretty. Not end up dead!
We want our Baby Londyn Jewels back but know in our hearts that she will forever be paws in heaven. She is terribly missed by all who loved her~ Londyn Jewels 10-06-05 03-01-07

Great With Animals

I have four large dogs and keeping them clean and the fleas off of them can be quite a chore. I depend on Doggie Dooz to help me with that chore. I can take all four dogs and drop them off to have them shampooed, clipped and dipped and whatever else they decide needs to be don. I pretty much leave that up to them cause they are experts. Then while they are doing that I usualy run home and treat the yard for fleas and ticks. That is the only way I can even begin to keep a handle on the situation. With four dogs it doesn't take long for the situation to get out of hand. My dogs love going to Doggie Dooz and are always very happy when I go to pick them up. I trust my animals completely with these people! They are very reasonable on thier fees!

I have a couple of poodles that I borrow from a friend of mine once a month and i take them over to one of the old folks homes in the area. The senior citizens just light up when they see us coming. Before we go though i always take them to Doggie Dooz to get them all spruced up. They do a wonderful job with the dogs and I think is a definate good sign that when we drive up in the parking lot the dogs get all excited! They love going here and to me that says it all! The prices are very reasonable and the results are great. Give them a try you will be happy that you did.
