Yes I agree with all the one stars!! I had the same experience where I have taken my bichon to be groomed and they shaved him without me knowing!! He was NOT matted I brushed him on a daily basis and was shown by my groomer in California how to do it properly. I cried when I had him returned to me. The owner had nothing to say but rude things to me when I refused to pay. So I am glad they closed due to whatever reason. What's worse is that he was shaking and nervous for the next 3 days, so who knows what they did to him!!
But I would like to tell people about a new place that has recently opened called The Wash Dawg. The staff is very friendly and really seem to take good care of the dogs. The groommer Holly did a fantastic job on my bichon. The owners are very curtious and made sure that I was happy with the work before I left. Max actually runs in the door when I drop him off for his appointment. Yes, I said appointment... They are NOT dog collectors and keep them for hours on end. The last time I dropped him off there and went to pick him up, the front door was locked and I looked in to see Max and 2 other little dogs happily playing with the manager Corrine. She explained when they are able, they allow them to run around instead of being in the kennels. No wonder Max loves it there!!
I highly recommend The Wash Dawg!!
Will put a five star on their site!!

I took my Pomeranian there (the one in stone oak) to get a trim. When I picked him up later he was completely shaved ! They made the fur around his face a square shape and it was completely UNEVEN! They also did not trim his nails or clean his ears properly which I paid for. AND THE WORST he had a RAZOR CUT on his side and his stomach. This place is horrible do not go here at all. I honestly do not trust these people, and I also do not feel comfortable with him there.

I also took him to Polished Pups(in stone oak) but since they do not require any vaccination records I do not feel comfortable with him there knowing he could catch something.

I took my dog Max to Doggie Dooz for the first time. He was very matted and my previous groomer told me I had to let her shave him, my neighbor told me to try their groomer first (Doggie Dooz). The staff and groomer was very helpful and they said they would try every way to not shave him. Max looks like a million $!! He is very white, very fluffy, and nice haircut, best of all no SHAVING!! I encourage all my friends and neighbors to give Doggie Dooz a try. Wanda

It is time to try a new groomer. So disapointed. My husband took our dog to Doggie Dooz at Redland, we have been there before and it's always been ok. He said it was really busy, but its the weekend and kinda expected. But when he picked up our dog and got her home I cried. Her hair was really short and her face was not even on both sides. Her ears were really red inside from being cleaned. My husband did not talk to the lady that is usually there. It was someone else. He felt really bad leaving our dog there with all those others. Like cattle. I am going somewhere smaller and more caring. It must be like a factory.

Scary....Scary...Scary... After a trip to Doggie Dooz on Stone Oak Parkway, my Silky Terrier came out completely SHAVED! The lady told us he was the best dog they have had all day. This could not possibly be true when you read the rest of this review! I don't know why they would COMPLETELY shave him. They have never shaved him and have his records from the last year. I can live with the shaved part- but then I found several wounds on him during his visit to Doggie Dooz!!! He would not eat for 3 or 4 days and hardly drank any water. The only thing I could get him to eat was a little bread and I had to take the water bowl to him. I had no idea what was wrong with him. He wouldn't cuddle with anyone and was so scared of everyone that he slept under the bed for several nights. Apparently, the owner CUT him in THREE different places when shaving him, and didn't even let us know when we picked up our dog, Chance. I found the cuts inside his ears and they were swollen and looked infected! The other one was by his genitals. The owner, Jeff Wright, blamed me when I called to report that Chance had been cut in several places by his ears and his genitals itched and irritated him so badly he couldn't even sit for two days. He refused to refund my money and said it was my fault and even YELLED at me over the phone. After I told him I had pictures of the cuts, he said to bring them in and he would consider refunding my money.
I took him to the vet after a few days since his ears weren't healing and they were starting to blister!
Here is the report from Bulverde Veterinary Clinic on Hyway 281:
Right ear tip 1" tear, left ear 1/3 circular abrasion occurred after grooming 1 week ago; if not better after antibiotics, he needs sedation/ cleaning and a further exam.
Jeff did finally refund my money for the grooming, however, he REFUSED to pay for the veterinary bill.
He also sent a letter to me, stating that he has decided to no longer provide service for Chance. The history has shown to be counter productive for them.
Let's see.... Who groomed him inappropriately? Who CUT both ears and shaved him too closely in his genital area and didn't even disclose that information to the owner of the dog? Who told them to shave the dog to begin with? Who was rude on the phone to their customer? Who sent a letter to their customer stating not to come back again? Who refused to pay the vet bill?
You decide.... but read ALL the reviews before you take your dog to Doggie Dooz. It is not worth what I went through. There are lots of horrible stories from this place.Since my experience with Chance, I have heard many other horror stories from Doggie Dooz! BEWARE!!!

Don't believe everything thing that you read! I take my 2 dogs to the Redland Rd. location. Very nice people, clean shop. My dogs like going there. Every time we go the lady up front will call me when they are ready. If I have a question or need a little more taken off they are happy to make it right. They are not mind readers, and need good simple instructions of what you want. But don't take your sick dog to a groomer to have someone to blame fo his death. Shame on YOU!!!

After reading about the tragic loss of one customer's pet, I will NEVER, EVER allow Doggie Dooz to groom my yorkie.

PLEASE BOYCOTT THIS TERRIBLE BUSINESS! NO PET'S LIFE SHOULD BE IN DANGER WHEN AT THE GROOMERS.

My finace and I recently moved into town and were looking for a groomer that was closer to home. I took my 2 year old 6 lb poodle and my very sweet kitty just this past week. At first I thought they were amazing, the lady at the front desk was nice and talkative and they had all the organic products that I love. However, after my fiance and I picked up my animals my open of them dropped a ton. I paid up front, if I hadnt I would have just walked out! My poor lucky had razor cuts all over his private boy area and cuts all along his tail. His ears were uneven and crooked. His face was not cleaned. His nails were not done at all. My kitty has these weird patches on her where her hair is completely missing. My animals love the groomer and love people. Yes they move around a bit on the table but nothing that an experience groomer would have problems. From now on I will be making the drive back to my old groomer in Universal City at Greener Groomers! They are amazing! If you want a real groomer who your pets well love go there!

I cannot beleive the negative things being said about this place! I moved here from Houston close to a year ago and my maltese/yorkie mix Muffin was in need of a groom badly.I'm very picky on where I take her and I cannot say enough good things about Doggie Dooz. I dropped her in the morning, got some stuff done, picked her up in the afternoon and she looked so adorable. They didn't shave her, they brushed out any matting and cut her hair perfectly. The prices are reasonable and I know my little one can be somewhat difficult, but they were great with her. Of course I'm not there while grooming, but she's never been hurt or seemed upset when I scooped her up! So, great customer service and reasonable prices and a happy dog!

After trying several groomers, and yes I heard bad reviews, but I also heard good reviews. I have to say, Doggie Dooz listens and returns my Yorkies exactly as requested. They have my business.

So disappointed!!! Will never go back.... I took my cat there and gave them detailed instructions on how I wanted her shaved and when I picked her up she looked HORRIBLE! They just shaved her completely, no style at all. She had lines in her fur from the trimmers. It was expensive too!

Lots of rumors going on between this salon and another one in the area. All I can say is my two dogs go monthly and have for 2 years without incident. We do not need extensive services for our pets, nails and teeth only, but they always do a good job. Friendly as well.

I still can hardly believe the garbage being said in a lot of these commentaries. Kelli has been caring for our dogs for over 5 years, and before that for our other dog for over 8 years. She owns Doggie Dooz and does such an amazing job, I drive from Austin every 6 weeks to get her loving expert touch on my precious dogs. They never get wounded, they are NEVER frightened, are always EAGER to see Kelli. She is the BEST!

I have an older male dachshund that I have taken to Doggie Dooz off and on over the past 5 years or so. Normally I don't have any problems with the salon or the staff. However, this past week I took my older dachshund and my 1 year old female for wash, glands, teeth, nails, and ears. Their nails were not cut sufficiently, their ears were not cleaned, and neither were their teeth. And I assume they have switched their shampoo because now my older male dachshund is having a severe reaction to whatever they washed him in. It is so bad, he will not walk and when I try to pick him up, he winces and wines.

From reading other reviews and talking to others, I understand there is a new owner. I think I will be sticking to Petsmart for my grooming needs from now on.

We found this list of review after reading a craigslist post about Doggie Dooz 'cooking a dog!' What!?!?!? Then after reading this list of reviews it seems that another (different case, assuming the dates are correct) dog died while in their care. No way should anyone risk this place with their animals.

I am amazed at the trash talk grooming shops throw around, they are far worse than any people salon. I have taken two of my dogs over the years to Doggie Dooz, both with the previous owner and with the not so newer owner. My dogs are always clean and have much nicer haircuts than any other place around (I to tried them to see what the hype was about), the staff is always friendly and know me and my dogs by name. I to heard the rumours and asked my own questions and took my own tour of the facilities, Doggie Dooz doesn't even own heated dryers! Ask for yourself to see, they told me they have nothing to hide unlike other places I have been to! Every pet owner really needs to question their self and the lack of proof on these outlandish claims made, if you are a follower and can't make up your own mind on issues that directly effect you and yours then maybe it is better you just vent on these reviews and don't take up a much appreciated appointment slot that I want to fit my dogs in! :-)

Kelli, the owner of Doggie Dooz has been grooming my st. poodles for years and they looked like they could walk into a show ring after she finishes them. In fact, I drive from Austin every 6 weeks for them to spend the day being groomed to perfection by her. My 2 boys absolutely love going there....and the treatment we get when we walk in the door is first class. I've reccommended Doogie Dooz to all my doggy friends in San Antonio and not one has ever had a bad experience there with the service or grooming.

This place sounds really awful. Based on these reviews I will never take my dog to this place. My parents have been taking there dog to Lucy's Doggie Day care off of Thousand Oaks for about 2 years now and they have no complaints and only good things to say, so you might want to check Lucy's instead of this place. If I walk into the door of any place to drop off my dog and receive unfriendly service by the receptionist you better believe I am going to walk right back out the door. Trust your gut instincts and don't trust people because the majority of people are ruthless.

We took our cocker spaniel to Doggie Dooz because they are so close by. We were told it would be a 4-5 hour wait until we could pick him up. We called after four hours and were told he would be ready at 4:30. When we arrived at 4:45 we were told it would be another 30-45 minutes. After 45 minutes, our dog appears looking nothing like himself. Instead of the trim we requested our dog was completely shaven...EVERYWHERE. Including his face, ears and whiskers. It looked awful. I will never give Doggie Dooz business again. The staff is also not gentle and kind to your pet...they are treated like "the work", not animals, and part of the family. They will never be trusted with my pet again. Avoid this place at all costs.

I recently dropped my 10 month old Shih-Tzu off at Doggie Dooz on Stone Oak Pkwy in San Antonio for the first time. As I walked in, the receptionist was very cold toward me and my dog and simply asked in an unfriendly way, "and this is who?? She never once acknowledged my puppy throughout the entire time I was there. She was very unpleasant to say the least. I asked her if she would give him some water and she replied again in a very rude cone, "I'll put some in his crate." I was shocked that a "pet salon" would be so unfriendly, however, I had a very important meeting at work and coudl not be late. I was really worried during the day and could not wait to pick him up that afternoon. I was actually concerned with his safety because of how unfriendly and uncaring she acted toward my dog and I. I asked to speak with the owner when I picked him up. The owner did come out and speak with me, however, never once apologized for the very poor customer service, instead simply stated "I understand, the receptionist should not have acted in that manner and I will talk with her later about it." I was really expecting an apology for this negative experience and maybe even some encouragement to return to allow them to make this up on the next visit, however, the owner was basically as cold and unfriendly as her staff member. She never once acknowledged my dog either. I literally felt as if I had dropped off a piece of luggage for repair. I really thought that the owner of a "PET SALON" would be more customer service friendly to the pets, considering this is their business and, one would think, their personal passion!! I am very upset about this entire visit and regret the day I chose to walk in the door at Doggie Dooz. This has obviously been a learning experience and I will never patronize this establishment again, nor will my family or friends.

I asked her if she would give him some water and she replied again in a very rude cone, "I'll put some in his crate." Dear All Beloved Pet Owners,

I took my Shih-Tzu Londyn Jewels to Doggie Dooz for grooming in Stone Oak on Thursday, March 1st at 11:45am with plans to pick her up at 4 pm. Instead I received a call at 2pm~ with the groomer on the phone in a monotone voice, your dog isn??t breathing right and we??re taking her to your Vet. At the Pet Hospital, they (the groomers) gave three different stories to me, a friend, my husband and the Vet. They told me after getting Londyn out of the ??cage dryer? they put her on the table and she went limp, wet herself and she wasn??t breathing right. When they dropped her off at the Veterinarian Hospital ~ her temperature was only 96 degree??s, her heart rate was faint and she was fighting for her life (turning blue without oxygen)

The doctor came in and told me she had bruising and hemorrhaging on the inside of her mouth, her lung had collapsed (either her trachea or lung had been punctured) and that she appeared to have suffered some sort of trauma. She died there while I waited alone hysterical! She was just 16 months old, our BABY! We are so incredibly devastated that we can??t bare her loss. We??re not exactly sure what happened to our dog Londyn and are waiting on pathology which generally takes 1 to 7 days from Texas A&M Veterinary Pathobiology. All we know so far is that our puppy suffered a fatal injury and somebody needs to be held accountable. We have yet to hear from the Groomer/Owner of Doggie Dooz or even receive a sincere apology. The owner Kelly hangs up the phone on us when we call her with questions. She said she doesn??t have time to be harassed by her customers. We just want the answers we deserve and need. We took a vibrant, full of life little puppy in just to get a haircut.

With all that being said, we now have a Veterinarian bill of $846.81 due which is to be paid by us. By letting others know of this tragic incident maybe we can stop this from happening to another beloved pet. We have filed a complaint with the BBB, have contacted Animal Cruelty here in San Antonio, TX,also we??ve contacted an Attorney. We have now become even more upset by the way this has been handled by the owners of Doggie Dooz. As soon as the pathology is in we will be handing over a copy to Animal Cruelty and every media outlet possible. In the meantime, I would like to thank everyone that has offered their condolences. We are deeply sadden by the events that have occurred and wish nothing more than to retrace our steps that day when we walked into what we thought to be a loving, caring and happy place where one takes their little doggie to get pretty. Not end up dead!

We want our Baby Londyn Jewels back but know in our hearts that she will forever be paws in heaven. She is terribly missed by all who loved her~ Londyn Jewels 10-06-05 ?? 03-01-07

I have four large dogs and keeping them clean and the fleas off of them can be quite a chore. I depend on Doggie Dooz to help me with that chore. I can take all four dogs and drop them off to have them shampooed, clipped and dipped and whatever else they decide needs to be don. I pretty much leave that up to them cause they are experts. Then while they are doing that I usualy run home and treat the yard for fleas and ticks. That is the only way I can even begin to keep a handle on the situation. With four dogs it doesn't take long for the situation to get out of hand. My dogs love going to Doggie Dooz and are always very happy when I go to pick them up. I trust my animals completely with these people! They are very reasonable on thier fees!

I have a couple of poodles that I borrow from a friend of mine once a month and i take them over to one of the old folks homes in the area. The senior citizens just light up when they see us coming. Before we go though i always take them to Doggie Dooz to get them all spruced up. They do a wonderful job with the dogs and I think is a definate good sign that when we drive up in the parking lot the dogs get all excited! They love going here and to me that says it all! The prices are very reasonable and the results are great. Give them a try you will be happy that you did.
