Robb & Stucky has a big, beautiful furniture store in the shops of Legacy, in Plano, off the Dallas Pkwy. You would think that they are a solid business. You would be wrong to think so. Last August, 2010, we put deposits on two tables. We were told by the saleswoman that the one table was "in stock" and would be delivered in 1 to 2 weeks. The other table would take 6-8 weeks to come in.

Weeks went by and we made many phone calls to Robb & Stucky. Our saleslady had given us several new dates for delivery. Sept 15, then Oct 15, when that date past we went into the store. We were told another date.....it would be Nov. 15. When that date passed I called the saleslady and she told me that she had no clue as to when the furniture would get in.

We then dealt with the regional VP, who was no better. In late Nov he sent a damaged floor model, with the promise of a replacement, so we would have something for the holidays. The replacement would be here in 2 weeks, we were told. I wrote to their corporate office in FL with no response. Also, the Better Business Bureau, we then received a refund for the one table we never received.

By mid February, we had had enough. At the store, their regional VP told me that they had been "slow to pay" the furniture manufacturer and they were no longer doing business with Robb & Stucky. He was rude and pointed me to the door. It is incredible that these people are in business! They are now to pick-up the damaged floor model and have promised a refund.

I would not recommend buying anything from Robb & Stucky. I don't think they will be in business much longer.

"As a repeat customer of Rob and Stucky, I recently ordered a complete household of new furniture from the Rob and Stucky store in Boca Raton, FL. Several of the items selected had to be identified and ordered from their catalogue, since in-store inventories did not include many of the kinds of items we needed. The store salesperson came to our new home and was instrumental in helping to select the catalogue items, carefully noting all of the areas for which we needed furnishings.. Upon delivery, many of the catalogue-ordered items were way over-sized for the limited areas we had to furnish; a problem not apparent to us by the catalogue descriptions only. Further, we found the quality of several other items to be terribly below standard for a furniture store of the esteem and reputation of Rob and Stucky, especially in view of the very high prices they routinely charge for their goods. Upon bringing these matters to the attention of the salesperson from whom we ordered everything, we learned that Rob and Stucky had little control over certain warranty and quality matters; i.e. that the vendors were "not cooperating". If Rob and Stucky have trouble managing vendors and quality, this is a store, although once great, that is now slipping badly in its ability to control basic operations. I will never again purchase any furniture from Rob and Stucky."

If you live in North Dallas and are looking for good furniture with good customer service (in case you have any issues)...look away from Robb and Stucky. We bought most of the furniture in our home from Haverty's. Any issues we have had in the past with the Haverty's furniture was dealt with promptly and professionally. I have never had a complaint with Haverty's.

Should have stuck with Haverty's...

We decided to look at Robb and Stucky for our furniture in our family room which we knew we'd be using every day. We were looking for a Large leather sectional and a 1 1/2 person chair. We paid top dollar compared to what we could have purchased comparable furniture for from Haverty's. We thought we were purchasing a higher level of quality and customer care by paying top dollar at Robb and Stucky. Unfortunately, the opposite has proven to be true.

We have owned the furniture for just over a year. Lets start with the leather sectional. After one year, the leather piping around each seating surface is worn and unattractive. Further, the seating area itself is already showing wear in that the leather finish is gone in several places. We called Robb and Stucky customer support and after several weeks they sent their "leather expert" out to our house to look at the furniture. He acknowledged the problem but told us that the chocolate brown leather the sectional was covered in was no longer sold...so, he suggested we live with it and use "brown shoe polish" wherever the couch looks worn. I am still in disbelief that Robb and Stucky's resolution to this obvious problem is for me to cover my $5,000.00 sectional with brown shoe polish.

Unfortunately, the 1 1/2 person chair had a hole in the seating surface upon delivery. Robb and Stucky tried to replace the bottom cushion material but they sent the wrong color covering. Weeks later, a rep came out and took the cover off the chair and took it with him to "match" it with a replacement. We are happy if the problem gets fixed but we have been left with a coverless chair (just the white cushion filling) for over a month now.

So beware, if you go to Robb and Stucky expecting a higher level of customer care, forget it...run to Haverty's. I found that if Haverty's does not have what you are looking for on the floor, they can order anything for you...it will come out a lot cheaper than what you can buy identical furniture for at Robb and Stucky and you will go through much less headaches if you ever have a problem.

Good Luck.

Pros: Lots of variety...find what you want then go to Haverty's and have them order it for you.

Cons: Customer Service and Quality

If you are looking for any style of furniture this is the place to go. They have a huge show room and the people there are so helpful. They also have classes that you can go to for decorating tips.
