I hate to write a negative review, especially for a place I love to shop at, but I got 80 cents each for nice items that I left there on consignment. I've purchased a great many items at this store and have NEVER found an item for sale

I'm so shocked at some of these reviews. I don't normally write reviews but felt that I should since I've had such an awesome experience with this place. I have used it for YEARS........probably since they opened and I have never had one

I was humiliated on the day that I wanted to consign clothing. I was told that my clothing was out of style, stained or picked...none of which were true. She, the manager, would not accept any of my clothing and I was told that everything would automatically go on the mark down isle if I left it there.

I have recently lost 25 lbs. I would be wearing those clothes if they fit. So, to be told in such negative terms that my clothing was not acceptable according to her terms...was only a single subjective opinon which had negative consequences. I will NEVER do business with that store again.

Pros: Rude manager

Cons: Assessment of your clothing...

As with most consignment shops (or at least those not trying to be trendy/retro), it depends on the day--you can get a fabulous coat for $1 (literally) OR find things your grandmother wouldn't be caught dead in. But if you're a gambler, you should visit now and again, because you just may find something superb!

I'm somewhat certain the good reviews are either new-comers to Austin consignment OR the owner(s).

A friend of mine had yet another bad experience in Baubles & Beads. I wanted to say "Shame on you!...You know better than to go there." The fact is, regardless, people should be able to go into a store where they are willing to buy merchandise AND be treated nicely...especially if a store is trying to re-invent their reputation. Guess they're not interested in making things better...same old story with the staff, different day.

I have an idea: Hire professionals who have been properly trained in customer service.

I have purchased nice sweaters and tops from this store on three different trips. They look brand new & one was off white! I always recieve compliments from strangers & friends when I wear them & will definitely be back there to shop some more! I have not had the chance to look closely at the jewelry, but it appears that there is a nice selection of this too. Next Time!

Pros: Designer Clothes

.

I have worked in the retail clothing business for 12 years. I have NEVER witnessed such rude behavior by employees as I have at this store. I witnessed an employee speaking to a shopper in the most disrespectful, condescending manner I've EVER witnessed in my years in the business. I immediately walked out with my friend in utter disbelief. To the owner: You must consider all postings here and realize you have a problem with your staff!?! Instead of writing about the quality of your consigned clothing, you should take a closer look at customer service. When consumers are given poor customer service it trumps the quality and price of your clothing. Many customer service training classes are offered and I appeal to you to look into this option. Another option is to get new staff. By the postings alone, your business has likely suffered. Apparently, there is also a problem with adequate payment for goods sold by consignors. This is another reputation your store has in the business community. I love Austin and want local businesses to succeed so I hope you will take necessary measures to better your reputation.

Pros: decent selection

Cons: customer service is far below standards

In my initial experience with this store, I found two pairs of shoes on clearance for $4 each and a fabulous dress on clearance for $65. This definitely beats Persistent Threads in Oak Hill.

The quality of stuff at this consign-place is sometimes good so if you are going to buy, you might like it. But if you are going to put things there to sell, don't do it. They are rude to you if they don't like your looks but will take your really good stuff and shove the rest in your face. They don't give you any accounting and they don't mail you your checks like they say. You always have to ask for them. And then somehow they are only for a dollar or two. I don't have proof that they are lying about what they sell things for, but I am pretty sure they take a lot more than they say they do. I decided it is better to donate my things from now on. my dos centavos.

On the whole, the pricing here is way out of the range of my thrift/consignment budget ($30 for a plain Banana Republic top). This may be due to the large amount of designer clothing, but I think the prices are still pretty high. However, with some digging through wracks of semi-organized merchandise, I did find two clearance items that were pretty good deals. The cashier greeted me in a friendly manner, but then spent the entire checkout process chatting with a friend in Spanish and mostly ignoring me. They do let you keep the hangers, though, which I liked. So on the whole, a mediocre experience. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back, especially since Savers is right across the street.

I am so glad to read that other people have experienced the same level of rudeness and disrespect by the staff of this store - I thought it was something I was doing! I have never consigned with them but my mom has and has lots of complaints about them. I stopped shopping here because it wasn't worth my time to be treated so badly - plus their selection is really not quality stuff.

The person that wrote professional business must have been the owner who was trying to write a good review. I agree with the other writer, this is a horrible place of business. They were rude and just VERY unprofessional. The owner never gave me her attention and I felt like a second class citizen. One of her employees told me to move out of her way and almost knocked me over. Her only response was that "you are in my way and you need to move to the over side of the room." I will never visit this place again or recommend to anyone to visit. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. The clothes are also over priced and look worn.

I was treated very poorly by the employees at this store. I consigned clothing, most of which sold, but I had to practically beg for my remaining items and payment. During my interactions with a particular employee, I was hung up on, told they didn't have time to cut checks, and then snubbed while at the store. The fact they were rude on top of retaining my goods and payment just added insult to injury.

This store needs a better system for keeping up with money owed, otherwise, just to practice better manners. The arrogance of the employees outweighs the merchandise.

I have been doing business with Baubles and Beads for the past 3 years and have always found them to be friendly and polite. They have answered my questions and helped me throught the process of selling my items efficiently. I have never been treated unfairly or rudly in all the time I have been doing business with them. My checks have always come on time and if I had a problem they were always helpful and professional in handling it.
I recommend them to my friends and family and even though I have moved to San Antonio I am still doing business with them and will continue to do so in the future.

While this store offers the opportunity to purchase clothing merchandise at a reduced price, their store personnel are so RUDE that it's not worth the discount. I find better customer service (and even product selection) at Goodwill or Thrift Town.

The first time I was in the store, I thought it was one poorly chosen employee that I happened upon. In subsequent visits, I have found the store clerks to be so INDIFFERENT and OUTRIGHT INSULTING to the customers, that it seems to be a management value to be inconsiderate to the very people who are keeping them in business.

Not only was the woman at the counter rude to me personally, I witnessed her basically telling another customer who was checking out that she didn't know how to do math because she miscalculated the discount that was offered on sale merchandise.

I am surprised that the store can stay in business with the horrible way they treat customers. I know that I will not be going back!

And it's a shame that there is not a better consignment store in South Austin to take my business too.

I peeked inside this store once and thought it a good place to consign. After encounters with a rude employee, a missing item, and a $4 check...I realized I was wrong!

Baubles and Beads consignment policy reads "Checks are ready on the 10th of each month for articles sold ($25 or more) the previous month. Consignor may pick up check before the end of the month. Baubles and Beads will mail out checks at the end of each month, if not picked up by Consignor."

I consigned 5 articles of clothing mid-March. I called the end of April and was told 2 of my items had sold for full price...but for less than $25...and I could pick up a check at the end of May. I went to get the check the end of May and was told it wasn't ready and I would have to come back after the 10th of June. What!?! This wasn't the policy, yet I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I called the first week of June to arrange to pick up the remainder of my things and the check after the 10th. I was told everything would be ready. On June 15th I arrived and was rudely told "You're supposed to call first!" After reminding the woman (Dalinda) I'd called the week before she said "Well, you'll need to come back Tuesday!"

That Tuesday I called first (b/c of the previous trouble) and was told "I didn't mean the check would be ready, but your itmes are ready!" I reminded the woman of store policy and of what she told me the 15th of June. She snipped "Okay, fine, come get your check and your items!"

I arrived...my clothes and a $4 check were shoved at me. Later, I realized I only a dress and pair of shoes were in the bag of items returned to me. (Consigned 5 items, sold 2 = 3 items to be returned to me.) Additionally, I'm not really confident the $4 check covered my %40 each of the 2 items sold. I know the earrings alone I consigned were priced at $15 and sold for full price. My percentage should've been $6 on that item alone.

This store lacks character and human spirit.
