My wife went to Jamel for years at the Lakeline location. He is awesome. Where did he go? Please help. We desperately need his Italian style/cut!

I went to get a new haircut, not sure what I wanted, but found a great Art Director. Joshua did a great job of working with my short hair and making it look new, while I try to grow it out. We talked about New York and Austin and he gave me great advice on life! He is a nice person and excellant at his job.

I started going to Toni & Guy back in January 2010, and ended up with a fantastic stylist, Joshua Howard.

I came across Joshua on Craigslist while he was looking for haircut models during his training at Toni & Guy. I somehow managed to get two free, fantastic haircuts out of him while he was still training. I loved my haircuts so much that I decided it was worth the money to pay him to continue cutting my hair. He is very thorough, has quite the attention to detail, and he takes the extra time to show me how to style my hair when I ask. Plus, he's a fun guy to talk to and honest with me when I decide I want to do something drastic!

The salon itself never makes me feel pressured to purchase product. It is very clean, and all of the staff members I've encountered have been very friendly.

With all that said, Toni & Guy is not the place to go for a cheap haircut. You will not get a haircut for less than $50. However, my personal philosophy is cheap haircuts = bad ones. I may be making more of an upfront investment for a haircut at Toni & Guy, but it grows out well and lasts longer between cuts. Cheap haircuts start to look mullet-y when they grow out in four weeks.

I will continue to take my business to Joshua at Toni & Guy in Barton Creek. And if he ever moves on, I'll likely follow.

I stopped by Toni&Guy in the Barton Creek Mall on a whim because I needed a haircut for an interview I had the next day. They set me up with Josh Howard and I must say, despite my anxiety regarding a new stylist handling my cut, I was extremely impressed.

Josh is incredibly personable and easy to talk to, but most importantly, he is an extremely talented stylist. He's very precise and very much a perfectionist. I've been seeing him for all my clean ups and bang trims and full cuts since that first visit. If you're going to Toni&Guy, I highly reccommend you make an appointment with this guy! He's wonderful!

I am so happy to have found Abby again! She left Tony and Guy about 2 years ago and I had no way of finding her! Of course they wouldn't tell me where she went or how to get ahold of her, which led me to be very unhappy with my hair for the last 2 years. I came acrossed her at Electra Beauty Lounge on south Lamar, not only is she still the best colorist she also now is able to cut my hair and wax my eye brows!! She even tinted my very light eye lashes, and it looks like Im wearing mascara all the time!! If anyone else has lost Abby and looking for her call Electra Beauty Lounge!!!!

When I'm done with this review, I hope it helps everyone find Cig! He started cutting my hair after a former employee of Toni & Guy's at Lakeline gave me 2 bad cuts in a row. Cig is amazing. My hair is very curly and FEW hair stylists "get" how to cut it or how to recommend products for it. Cig gently guided me through fixing years of bad advice. I sighed a deep sigh after learing he wasn't at Toni & Guy and was simply told that he wasn't with the company any longer. I realize that salons never give out information on where to find the stylists that leave, but I got lucky and found his number. He's at Salon Aqua Blue at the Crossroads Shopping Center at Burnet Rd. and Hwy. 183 (along with Pluckers, Chili's, Tabu, etc.). Give Cig and call and you won't be disappointed. Good luck, Cig with this new salon! We love you!

Pros: Cig is amazing with hard to cut/style, doesn't push products.

Cons: None... this is CIG we're talking about!

Stay away from the Lakeline Toni&Guy. I used to be a regular with Jamel. My last hair cut made me hate Toni&Guy salon. I looked at pictures from other times I went there and I realized I have been fooled by the nice atmosphere and have been paying $100 for horrible hair-cuts. Jamel over-does the chopping...way too many layers. I had long hair....went in for a trim...he ended up chopping off my hair and making it look super thin even though I told him I only wanted a trim and shorter bangs. My hair is now horribly chopped and layers are way too dramatic.
I naturally have lots of hair...very full and healthy looking. In this last hair-cut he used razors to do my layers, which I questioned him about. I do not like razors because I feel like it damages my hair. He told me that is what they do in Europe.
So my hair is now extremely unhealthy and brittle looking because of the razor layering. Also, he overdid the layering and made the layers on top waaay too short so now my hair looks way to thin. I hate that he did not listen to how I asked him to cut my hair. He now messed up my plan on having long and beautiful hair for my wedding which is coming up in few months. I am EXTREMELY MAD every time I look at my horrible haircut since I have been growing my hair for a couple years now in preparation for the wedding and now he messed it up right before the wedding.
So stay away...Toni&Guy is NOT worth it!

I recently called to make an appointment to get my hair cut done by my regular stylist Cig. They told me that he no longer worked there and I flipped! Who was going to do my hair? Luckily I was able to find him after I had let someone else at Toni and Guy try to dupplicate his cut...I suppose I should have learned my lesson because this is the second time my impatience has lead me to "ruins" without Cig.I. just wanted to let everyone else know that he is around because I know he has many loyal clients that would miss him tremendously if they could not follow him. He can be found at Aqua Blue Salon located at the corner of 183 and Burnet. The salon telephone number is 512-300-2782 the hours are Monady-Saturday 10am-7pm I know that it is a drive, but you get what you pay for. I have learned that high dollar is not equated to great cut,but Cig is. Cig has a heart of gold when it comes to keeping his clients happy.I will follow you to any salon, Ciggy. here is his cell for loyal clients in need 512-773-6012

I worked at two of the salons and was treated poorly. I was pushed to sell products which is fine but I am not about to bully people into buying things which I saw the owners do. Their products are good but they aren't the best products for everyone. I see it as a huge turn off to go to a salon and be bullied into buying products. I was a client before I worked there and I fortunately was never bullied into buying product. I was treated so poorly as an employee and so are all of the stylists. I know longer work because I was tired of standing up for myself and getting nowhere. The partners of toni and guy in austin do not care about anyone but themselves and their pocket books. I would not recommend going there if you want to relax. I especially suggest you stay away from Lakeline and if you do go there absolutely do not go see jamel. He only really spends 15 minutes with his clients and it's like an assembly line to go to his chair afterwards you will be bombarded with all kinds of product and pushed to buy it. Those that train closely with him do the same thing with the product except they tend to spend quality time with their clients. I am not going to go to a slon and get treated like I am a product on an assembly line and then be bullied to buy product when I am paying enough for the haircut. Oh and if anyone was Cig's client and they need to find him post something on here for me and I will help you get in touch with him.

Pros: There are a few good hairstylists and colorists

Cons: Poor customer service, owners out for #1 at the expense of everyone

No offense but I am a very loyal client of Toni & Guy and it is sad to see some salon using them for their website. Toni & Guy is a world renowned company full of amazing and very well educated people. I am a businessman ....so....it would probably seem fit for this triangle salon with good music and wine...(no offense but that is scary if that is all they have to offer)....to get their own website. I can see a few reviews below that these are a few fellow employees and only makes sense to make others aware, but now you are dogging a salon that is in a mall....so because of the mall it makes a bad salon. So if you are down for good music and wine....go see these folks that were taught the right way...not saying anything bad about them, but if you want some seriously awesome hair that is continuously being revamped by the newest styles....I have a couple of people to go see that I like...and yes grant it a few of the people i used to see are no longer there....I have found a great love for this place and Victoria and just recently Kitty(from dallas) have done my color and it is nothing less than amazing. And Sig and Stewart have given me some of the newest styles to keep me fresh.. I love you guys I am not going anywhere!!!!!!!!!!

I've been to T&G in the Barton Creek mall a few times now and aside from a few amazing stylists, the experience wasn't that great. They obviously invest time and energy in training their stylists but recently, I realized the same thing the last poster did, that my favorite stylist and colorist (Megan and Bonnie) left after they shipped the whole staff out the the Lakeline Mall.

I found them both at a salon in the Triangle. I got a cut and color last weekend and it was the best experience ever. The atmosphere is MUCH more relaxed than it was at the mall, they played great music and even served me a complimentary glass of wine.

The pricing is the same but now I don't have to deal with mall traffic, hectic parking and ditzy receptionists.

I use to go to Rebekah at Toni&Guy @ barton creek mall but i recently discovered that she has left. At first I freaked out because she is the best stylist I ever had....no joke!! Turns out there are a few other stylist there to from T&G. At any rate...the cuts are great and the salon is absolutely amazing!!!

As a guy with thick wavy hair who cares about his appearance, it has been really hard finding a good salon/stylist. Granted, I have not tried all of the high end salons in Austin, but once I found Grace at Toni&Guy I have never felt the need to go anywhere else.
I'm pretty sure Grace is the top stylist for men at this location, and she is renown for being able to closely mimic celebrity hairstyles. From the first day I went, I got the feeling they try to cater to the type of lifestyle I live, and cut/style my hair accordingly - which is great. They take the time to talk to you about what you expect from a haircut, how you wear your hair normally, what products you use, etc.
The clientele of this place is generally people who expect more than just a simple "Supercuts" cut - which is expected of a high end salon. And from what I can see people get up from their cuts looking and feeling great. I also feel like T&G cuts have more of a "personality" than other places. It's like the stylists are trained to see the potential of your hair and can help you step outside the box to have a new, unique style you will love.
Some of my dislikes: the fact that the salon is in the mall doesn't bother me, but they have a fairly small space. The waiting area is very small, and not very comfortable. A bigger space with some comfortable chairs/couches and more literature would be great. Also, the front desk staff can be a bit cold at times, but it's not a huge bother. The prices are certainly on the high side, but again, this is to be expected of a salon of this caliber.
To recap: After finding Grace at Toni&Guy, my search for a stylist is over. She even encourages me to come in every other week in between haircuts to get my hair textured and styled... at no charge! I consider that very good customer service and loyalty. Seeing how satisfied I was with this place, my girlfriend has decided to start coming here as well (with Stewart) and she couldn't be happier with the results.

Seeing how satisfied I was with this place, my girlfriend has decided to start coming here as well (with Stewart) and she couldn't be happier with the results.

Pros: Skill of stylists, attention to detail

Cons: Waiting area

.

I was referred to Rebecca by a coworker who has used her for years and whose hair ALWAYS looks cute. Rebecca did a great job and I have been back to her several times. She's fast and she's good and my haircut usually looks good for 6-8 weeks before I notice it's time to schedule another appointment, which is amazing because it's barely shoulder length. I usually call the same day or just a day or two before and have never had any problems. I will continue to use Rebecca even though I live in Round Rock. It is well worth the drive!

I went to Toni and Guy to have my hair
colored and Tracy was the stylist/colorist. Tracy acted like she
knew my exact color I wanted and prepared the color. After she applied the color she also did a color job on
an employee. She took both me and the employee to wash our hair and then
left to finish up with her co-worker.
The co-worker had someone else blow dry her hair and I was imformed that nobody could blow dry my hair. Tracy
escorting me out to the front without
showing me the color or drying my hair.
When I got to the car I looked and the
mirror and was horrified at what I saw.
She left color all around my face and I
had asked for dark brown and my hair color was jet black. I found out later
that the director was off that day and
that is why the place was in a free for all. A good thing to know is that
the employees are allowed to have their hair colored while they are on the clock.

PROS: none
CONS: worst service / very unprofessional

I just got the best haircut of my life here. Yes, it is on the pricey side and the staff do try to sell products. However, Vincent is an incredible stylest and makes you feel totally comfortable.

I didn't bring in a picture but wanted a big change. When he was near the end of the cut, he asked what I thought and I asked him to change the cut a little. Well, he did exactly what I asked and I've never been more happy with a cut (I didn't even bring in a picture!)

This guy knew all about my hair and gave me all kinds of advice on how to take care of it.

Well worth every penny!

Pros: Friendly staff. Give you what you ask for! Friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Non-snooty!

Cons: It is pricey!

I first went to Toni & Guy because I was in the mall, feeling shabby and was able to walk in and get a haircut. Each time I went, I used a different stylist. All of them were very friendly, stylish, and my haircuts were wonderful. However, I feel the prices are far too high for a place in the mall, even if they do a good job. They stylists are ranked according to experience, so if you go, be clear about who you are getting (you will pay more for the top tier). The real reason I stopped going to this salon is that I dreaded the end of the visit, whereupon they would push products on you. Buying all they products they recommend could easily double or triple the cost of your haircuts. I realize they are probably require to do this, but it's no fun to deal with (especially when you already own all the product you could possibly need).

PROS: stylish haircuts
CONS: pricey, staff really pushes products

Toni and Guy Hairdressing is located in the Barton Creek Square Mall. It has a nice clean place full of hair stylist. They have their own brands for hair care products. If you are there for a haircut, they charge you according to the level of the hair stylist. The lowest level still charges for more than 45 dollars. Very expensive. Make appointsment before you go.

Although they advertise that walk-ins are welcome, I was never able to walk in and receive any kind of service. Once I finally scheduled an appointment, I was extremely disappointed. The cut itself was mediocre. My "stylist" left in the middle of my blow-out to cut another customer's hair, leaving me with the shampoo tech. Although Toni and Guy salons are notorious for product-pushing, I was still surprised at how aggressive they were. You can't pay your bill until you've been pressured by the stylist and receptionist to buy several products. I will not return.
