I have lived in Lewisville going on 12 years and Hartwell's Nursury was one of the first local businesses that I visited. I've always had friendly, knowledgeable service in a very relaxed atmosphere. They know me so well, sometimes I come in just to visit and see what new plants they've gotten in. I've referred all my friends and family members who live in Dallas to come to Lewisville when they need expert advice on plants and trees. After this last summer, I have a lot of things to replace and Hartwell's will be the place I go.

Wonderful people, very knowledgable about what to plant, when and where! Great selection and excellent prices! Much better than the bigger garden center stores!

Hartwell's is a great little nursery. They have a wonderful variety of plants and trees that are well suited for the area. Their prices beat out the "box" stores and their staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. We have been searching for a nursery with these attributes in the DFW area and were thrilled to find them.

There's a couple things I love about Hartwell's. If you are looking for something a little "outside the box" for your yard, there's a chance Hartwell's will have it. Family owned and operated, they are ALWAYS friendly and very helpful. You can't beat Hartwell's $1.89 ground covers and shrubs (although the shrubs are very small) Also a great place to purchase Crepe Myrtles... huge selection!

Hartwell's used to have a great reputation in the Lewisville, Flower Mound area, but others say that is slipping. We found out why.\r\n\r\nTheir crew misplanted our trees despite our polite request to keep root flares visible (for the health of the tree). Sure enough, one of the trees got sick; an arborist told us it was dying. Hartwell's crew again refused arborist instruction planting a replacement tree. And insanely tried to plant with lightning right overhead. I insisted they come back another time and they left in a huff, taking the old tree and leaving us with the new one. Hartwell, the owner, blew up at me over the phone telling me the first tree was healthy and he had made him ""k__"" it by digging it up (keep in mind, a registered arborist said is was dying; and if it wasn't, he could have simply resold it because digging it up wouldn't have k-----d a healthy young tree). \r\n\r\nYou never, ever, yell at a loyal customer. We were polite! I don't know what set him off. A nightmare. Others told us similar tales. Once loyal repeat customers, we'll never return. Other nurseries in the area have given us great service with no problems.\r\n\r\nP.S. The new tree he sold us was suppossedly ""just planted"" from the ground in a 5 gal. tub. Nonsense. It turned out to be root-bound with encircling roots. After Hartwell lost his temper and refused to plant it, we did it ourselves by surgically cutting and straightening the roots. Beware of this nursery. Others are better.

Pros: Some decent deals on some flora.

Cons: Bad advice. Incompetent tree planting by crew. Poor treatment of customers.
