Due to insurance changes I was forced to find a new pediatrician very last minute. I found Northwest Pediatrics on my insurance providers list and they took walk-ins so I decided to give them a go. My 14 month old daughter had been super fussy for 5 days prior to my visit. Three days prior to our visit she started to have very foul, explosive diarrhea so I decided a doctors visit was in order. Before I went to the doctor, I collected a fecal sample in a sanitized baby-food jar in case they wanted to run any tests. I walked into the exam room and put the poop sample on the table (baby-food jar INSIDE a plastic ziploc bag). The first thing Dr Rani does when she walk in is make a discusted look and say ""whats that"" very rudely. I explain its a poop sample since my daughter has been having diarrhea and she immediately replied with, ""well I'm going to throw it away. I don't test poop. If I tested poop every time a kid was sick we would have so much it would fill up the parking lot"". Which made me mad since she doesn't even know what is going on yet, and had no idea how long my daughter had even been sick.\n\nFinally Dr Rani asks me about my daughter's symptoms. I tell her that she had been very fussy for 5 days prior, and that I first attributed it to teething. Dr Rani quickly interrupts me stating ""teething isn't painful, babies do it in utero"". She also 'informed' me that ""orajel and motrin companies are just laughing their way to the bank because teething doesn't hurt"". She told me that when a baby has fever or another 'teething symptom' it is because they are sick, period. Teething doesn't cause fever, runny nose, fussing, interrupted sleep...nothing. And parents need to realize their kids are sick and stop blaming teething. And she pretty much laughed in my face when I mentioned I had given my daughter motrin to help with teething pain (which in her opinion doesn't exist).\n\nThen she looks down at my daughter and says to me ""I can tell you right now, your daughter isn't sick, she is walking around exploring"". I replied with by telling her that at home she is super fussy, won't be put down, naps 3 naps a day instead of 1, won't eat much, has diarrhea etc. And she replies with ""parents always make excuses about 'when kids are at home', but they bring them here and they are fine"". So finally she decides to examine my daughter and sees ""white puss"" on her throat and said ""well maybe she is sick"". She makes me hold my daughter down while she did a flu and strep swab. My daughter was hysterical,; before this minute, the doctor had yet to even acknowledge her, or introduce herself to my daughter. \n\nShe went on to 'council' me for over an hour about parents who needlessly bring their children in for a sniffle or cough. And lectured me about how the human body fights off infections. She attempted to make me feel ignorant, uneducated, and overly concerned about my daughter. And even asked me if I thought I knew more than a doctor when I tried to stand up for medical decisions I had made pertaining to my daughters health. I have never been treated so condescendingly ever. Looking back at what I wrote doesn't even compare to the rudeness of that doctor. I wouldn't step foot inside her office if she was the only doctor in Austin. The encounter I had had with her seemed so surreal, so outrageous, I am surprised she has a practice at all.

When my daughter got sick, I wasn't sure what to do. I didn't like the doctor she had been seeing, so I didn't want to go back there. I called Northwest Pediatrics and they were able to see her the same day! Everyone was so nice. I have found my new doctor for sure.

My sons have been patients at Northwest Pediatrics for years and we have always been treated like family. They always know who we are when we come in or call. I can't imagine going anywhere else. Their morning walk in sick clinic is the best! I don't have to wait for an appointment or some one to call me back when my child is sick. They are always so caring and the doctors answer all of my questions. My kids actually LIKE going to the doctor! I am so grateful that I found this place - I'll never leave!

WOW - one of the worst experiences EVER!! The Dr.'s change too frequently and our son never sees the same person. Today's visit would have to be classified as the worst Dr. visits I have ever experienced. I thought it was odd that their was only one other patient in the office.. now I know why! I would NOT recommend this office to anyone. My "tip".. stay away.

Northwest Pediatrics is truly one of the best choices for any family. The staff is so friendly and compassionate and the doctors are amazing. I have been to many doctor offices as we are constantly moving for my husband's job and Northwest Pediatrics is by far the best my family has ever seen. Keep up the great work!

We came to this establishment with our 2 year old running a fever which started in the middle of the night. I called their number then and it said that walk-in schedule is between 8:30 and 1:30. We came at 11:30, only to be told that new patients are accepted until 10:30 and were offered to come back at 1:30. Fever is not life threatening situation, but the type of stupid adherence to rules, rather then attention to patients is why for the first time in my life I am compelled to write this. Perhaps I am missing something or used to a different type of service in NY, but this is pretty bad.

I have never been happier with any other doctors office. My child does not get sick often but when she does the staff at this office always so helpful. They always return phone calls the same day and usually within the first 2 hours. They are so many wonderful doctors and physician assistants there we never have trouble scheduling an appointment or waiting long once we arrive.
